A lot has happened overnight. The most remarkable development is that the CSTO is sending troops to Kazakhastan. That is fast, very VERY fast. And that proves that the Russians knew and were prepared. I agree with Bernardt at MoA who wrote that “The U.S. Directed Rebellion in Kazakhstan May Well Strengthen Russia“.
I leave you with a machine translation from an article originally posted here: https://svpressa.ru/war21/article/321239/
Kazakhstan and Afghanistan set on fire by a common match
The fire in Central Asia is only getting worse for us. The Russian Security Council warned about the impending catastrophe there two months ago
This is simply surprising: in the context of the catastrophic development of the situation in Kazakhstan, Russia and its closest allies in the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) are acting unusually resolutely, harshly and rapidly before the eyes of the whole world.
This was not the case during the mass protests in Belarus in the summer of 2020 and spring of 2021. We did not see anything like this during the so-called second war of Armenia and Azerbaijan over Nagorno-Karabakh (in the fall of 2020). The CSTO also held the position of an outside observer in April-May 2021 during armed clashes on the Tajik-Kyrgyz border. All this has long given rise to reasonable doubts: why do we need this very CSTO, which does not want to interfere in anything? Even when the streets of the allies are full of gunfire and the blood of civilians is pouring out?
Today, everything is exactly the opposite. Judge for yourself: only late in the evening on January 5, the President of KazakhstanKassym-Jomart Tokayev turned to his CSTO partners for help. According to a RIA Novosti report, he officially stated:: “Relying on the Collective Security Treaty, I have today appealed to the CSTO heads of state to help Kazakhstan overcome this terrorist threat.” And then: “In fact, this is no longer a threat, it undermines the integrity of the state and, most importantly, it is an attack on our citizens, who are asking me, as the head of state, to urgently provide them with assistance.”
Just a few hours later, on the night of
November (correction of typo) January 5-6, an emergency meeting of the CSTO Collective Security Council was held, the main topic of which, as far as can be judged, was the bloody pogroms in Alma-Ata. And already at dawn, military transport planes with Russian Airborne troops stormed into the skies of Kazakhstan to protect ” important state and military facilities, assist the law enforcement forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan in stabilizing the situation and returning it to the legal field.”
Are you able to recall anything like this from the CSTO since the collapse of the Soviet Union? I’m definitely not. But if this happens, it means that we had everything ready in advance. In other words, our Aerospace Forces knew in advance what airfields and in what quantities they should concentrate military transport aviation. The airborne troops had clear instructions from the Defense Ministry and the General Staff on which specific regiments and divisions to alert. Even the necessary cargo, ammunition, fuel and food were probably packed and stored not yesterday at all.
Logically, in addition to having political will, such a development of events required one more prerequisite: Moscow should have known in advance about everything that was being prepared in recent weeks and months in Kazakhstan. And she knew all about it, of course.
Only one detail that is crucial for understanding the emerging situation: it seems that the events there are not viewed by the political and military leadership of Russia today as a fire that is burning only in this separate former Soviet republic. No, the shooting and pogroms in Kazakhstan from the Kremlin are probably only seen as a precursor to the storm that is inevitably coming to us all from Central Asia as a whole. Mainly from Afghanistan.
That is, Kazakhstan and Afghanistan, it seems, are known from where they are set on fire with a common match. The goal is also common-Russia. Accordingly, the Kremlin prepares defensive retaliatory measures in advance. And I am ready to fight for Kazakhstan, as I once did for the Dubosekovo crossing near Moscow in 1941.
In this regard, it is very interesting to look through the information messages of a military-political nature that began to arrive from this strategic direction approximately last fall. Let’s say this: in mid-November 2021, the Secretary of the Russian Security CouncilNikolai Patrushev warned that if the new authorities in Kabul fail to normalize the situation, a catastrophic scenario is possible in Afghanistan. The development of this catastrophic scenario in Afghanistan includes a new round of civil war, general impoverishment of the population and hunger.
And just yesterday, January 5, 2022, the realism and timeliness of Patrushev’s disastrous forecast received convincing confirmation. Not from anywhere — from the UN headquarters. On Wednesday, a message came from there saying that the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan has worsened due to the onset of the cold season and severe frosts. In the country, millions of people suffer from cold and lack of food. Some parts of the country were cut off from external aid due to heavy snowfall. The humanitarian disaster is getting worse every day, and people are running out of food and fuel to heat their homes.
Someone will say: well, let it be… what does it matter to us what happens in this eternally warring country, with which Russia does not have a single meter of common border? But, according to Patrushev’s logic, we are about to talk about millions of people fleeing from Afghanistan, in which it will be impossible to distinguish ordinary refugees from specially trained and trained militants. No one will be able to keep them outside the borders of the former USSR.
And if it is specifically about the militants in Afghanistan, let’s listen to at least a well-known Tajik political scientist, a researcher at the Institute for Sociological Research in ParisParviz Mullojanov. According to him, in the north of Afghanistan today accumulated about 7-8 thousand militants who arrived in this country from other countries. First of all, from Iraq and Syria. Thus, the political scientist is sure, the structures of the “caliphate” that were defeated in the Middle East are gradually being transferred here.
Near the borders with the former USSR, the so — called “Haqqani network” (a terrorist organization banned in some countries – “SP”) began to create training camps and madrassas, which, in alliance with the Taliban, * waged a guerrilla struggle against government forces, as well as against the troops of the United States and other NATO countries. Even earlier, in the 80s, the same organization founded by the extremist religious figure MawlawiJalaluddin Haqqani, fought with the Soviet troops.
Three of its own bases for the combat and ideological training of new gangs near Kabul were founded by the notorious Al-Qaeda **, which quickly found a common language with the Taliban, which came to undivided rule in this country.
“If we sum up all these three factors, the main difficulty is that Afghanistan will potentially soon turn into what the “caliphate” in Syria or Iraq was,” Mullojanov sums up, which is also disappointing for us.
And as for the lack of a common border between Afghanistan and Russia… Yes, between us and the Afghans lie Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan, which was set on fire today, but only a few months ago seemed to be a bulwark of political stability. Here is just what-outwardly the most reliable “airbag” of Russia, 7.5 thousand kilometers of a common land border separating us from Central Asia, from which you do not know what to expect for a long time. Now this barrier between Russia and Afghanistan is virtually gone. It melted away in the smoke of fires in Alma-Ata, Aktobe, Atyrau, Pavlodar and other cities and towns of Kazakhstan caught up in mass riots.
Perhaps our common salvation lies in the fact that our military clearly prepared for such a turn of events in advance. Look here: a record number of live-fire exercises were held in 2021 at our main stronghold in Central Asia, the 201st Russian military base in Tajikistan — more than 300. In other words, for some reason Moscow ordered: “Spare no bullets!”
For a whole year, the cannonade thundered there almost daily. Moreover, the tactical background of these exercises turned out to be very characteristic-actions to repel attacks by conditional bandit groups on military camps in Dushanbe and Bokhtar, defense at the Lyaur and Sambuli ranges, repelling seizures of ammunition depots and military equipment parks.
Another detail that illustrates the gravity of the threat to Russia and its allies from a strategic direction in which Kazakhstan is only a small milestone. On December 7, the Russian legal information portal, literally a month before the current events, reported that Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan had created a special closed joint communication system between their armies. As it is written in the document — to exchange information and coordinate their interaction.
The agreement provides for permanent combat duty at the command posts of the participating countries. It is, of course, carried around the clock. And this is definitely another clue to the efficiency with which the CSTO troops have just been decisively and without any doubts brought into Kazakhstan.
And in the meantime
Armed clashes between militants of the Taliban movement that seized power in Afghanistan and Turkmen border guards took place on the border of the two states. This was reported on Monday in its electronic version by the Afghan newspaper Hasht-e subh.
“Three days ago, border guards of Turkmenistan killed one civilian and beat up another. In response to their actions during the investigation of the incident, the Taliban fired shots, ” said the head of the provincial information and Culture department.Jauzjan Hilal Balkhi.
A shootout between Turkmen border guards and the Taliban took place on Monday, January 3, in the Hamab district of Jowzjan province. Other details of the incident were not disclosed.
* The Taliban movement was recognized as a terrorist organization by the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation on February 14, 2003, and its activities are prohibited in Russia.
** Al-Qaeda was recognized as a terrorist organization by the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation on February 14, 2003, and its activities are prohibited in Russia.
Where is the evidence that it they are foreign operatives?
Besides the obvious fact that they are always foreign, and the obvious fact of how prepared they were for mayhem, there is the telltale calling card of head chopping.
Also, when Jen Psaki protests loudly claiming innocence before facts on the ground have even been sorted out the logical assumption until proven otherwise is foreign intervention. Don’t forget the color revolution M.O. is to always piggyback on legitimate internal dissent and escalate.
There is a color revolution now in progress on Russia’s southern border in Kazakstan backed and organized by the CIA. The disturbance is far too well organized and supplied with weaponry to be a popular uprising.
It’s clear as the sky. Existing videos as somebody drops rifles on the street and people so called demonstrators picked up weapons and straight away start checking them up “whiteout any knowledge checks if’s in full function “ and ready for action. After few hours those “demonstrators “ are on the airport and blocking runway so units of CSTO couldn’t landed. What else do you people want more to recognise that it’s going about another colour revolution under false flag. I can smell even on 5000km . And I’m not writing about another one which shows them on the curbs under control of spec.force and car fully loaded with gps phones &shotguns – really good and peaceful protesters. They supposed to be sanded back to USstanu with notice- no for use at all- for Kazakhstan.
$100 bills are evidence enough these days.
Where is the evidence that they are not foreign operatives?
Where is the evidence that when the empire opens it mouth it’s telling a lie? The evidence is so overwhelming, one can take it as fact. This is an engineered color revolution / coup attempt, planned and instigated by outside forces with animus toward Russia. Don’t mean to sound like a smartass, but If is looks like a duck, waddles like a duck, quacks like a duck; its probably a duck. The Empire is not even bothering to hide anymore. They are either brimming with confidence or scared like hell.
Now don’t tell me you don’t believe that foreign operatives were not involved. Foreign mercenaries and operatives were used in Kiev in 2014 and they were also used against Maduro in Venezuela in that botched coup d’etat.
The CIA and others are using old manuals on regime change and coup d’etats. They tried regime change with Lukashenko in Belarus, which failed and they are trying their luck in Kazakhastan. The Russian response was very professional, as was that of Tokayev. This Western attempt at regime change has already failed. NATO got another lesson when it comes to the efficiency of the Russian military.
Where else have you seen a movement, that is, a crowd of people revolting and the first thing they do is behead and kill police officers, occupy airports and carry weapons?
So my deduction skills was right, this felt like an inside job, the politician that raised the gas price which led to an uprising, the effectivity of these operatives, they knew everything within these citys. The americans are not that good.
But maybe these politicians worked for cia, time will tell.
I dont like Lukashenko and what he did to Belarus, that lowlife have the audacity to tell the Kremlin that he will only talk to the oppisition once Putin talks to Alexey navalny. That man gives bad reputation to Russia.
The preparation for them, is the proof. Confirmed by the tactics, the external commincation needed for the preparation and the flood of young men from the Afghan victory who crossed to the north last year. The foreigners already arrested. The article was not a presentation of proof, but a logic that is convincing.
Chess vs. checkers. Jan. 10 should be quite interesting.
For the 10th Jan to be interesting you would need two chess players. Unfortunately, old Walter De La Mare (5 eyes) doesn’t have that expertise, so expect the Russians to run rings around their opposition.
Just thinking, if you had a combo of 10 thousand or so troops drilling on your western flank, and some Rainbow Flag thing broke out nearby, it wouldn’t take much turn the ‘drill’ (aka, all dressed up with no where to go) into a ‘live exercise’ ……oh, those sneaky Russians, all eyes on Orc border was a ruse, they knew stupid Yanks would take the bait. Now Russia can tie up a loose thread……with peacekeepers no less.
Some are saying Russians were asleep at the wheel…….when you hold the business end of the rope, you sleep whenever you like.
Ahh, Sean, me old mate,
When I first read of this, my immediate thoughts were of Kiev in March 2014 and the fact that the Russians do really play their cards very close to their chests. They couldn’t stop Nuland’s mob without showing their hand, but they stopped the NATO invasion by interfering with the MH370 plot to assassinate the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge as they honeymooned in The Maldives. Then in about April or May they had somebody (who I called Russian Naval Intelligence) actually tell the world where the body of MH370 was to be found..
But it all gets even better when one ties in General David Petraeus and Lt. Col. Paula Broadwell and their agent on the ground, Tamerlan Tsarnaev and of course, Russia’s man, Ibragim Todashev who was murdered by James Yacone, Broadwell’s boss.
As I wrote years ago; “Again, the Russian moves in regard to the revolution in Kiev and its aftermath was not ‘ad hoc’ but a reasoned and planned response that could only have come from prior knowledge. The Russian FSB still has its Philby within the CIA.”
I believe what has happened in Belarus, and now here would demonstrate that possibility. Of course, no matter whether I am correct or not, it is perfectly obvious that Russia is several moves ahead of whoever is planning these deeds in Washington.
And Sean, a belated ‘Happy Hogmanay’ to you and yours, and all of my other friends here! God Bless!!
I track Patrushev quite closely. He has a handle on all the “threats” and speaks candidly publicly.
Therefore, you know the Russian Intel services and all the special forces from all the services are atop the situations in the Balkans, ME, Central Asia, North Africa and the nazified East European and Baltics.
Russia is ready, more ready for these flareups and explosions than you can imagine. The forces are exercised, prepared, staged and alert to immediate response.
Actually, in Belarus, the reaction when needed was immediate. Within an hour of the crucial move against Lukashenko, the Russians had “technical” support into Minsk.
And the new Caliphate in Afghanistan, all due to the planning of the US, will be crushed with SCO and China’s PLA finally showing their teeth in public. It will be coordination and cooperation of Russian and Tajik and Chinese forces that will level the Caliphate. China wants it for tuneup for Taiwan.
If the Taliban are this stupid to allow ISIS-K a Caliphate, their time as government of Afghanistan will be very short.
Russia and China are very ready for whatever the US, UK and Turkey might foment.
The Taliban should be levelled regardless. There is nothing noble about these butchers. They are scum and killers for sale on the take from the CIA from day one.
But is our friend Nicol of Yerevan to be trusted. I hope that serious and important tactical and strategic matters won’t be discussed with this clown. Armenians under his control work for the Evil Empire. He only started to be cooperative after the debacle of the last war with Azeris when his balls got caught in a vice.
Ultimate defeat of the Taliban and such religious extremist groups will not be accomplished in total by ‘going in and leveling them’.
For starters, Russia and the US did not accomplish this despite their most powerful militaries. Yes, perhaps that was by design, to accomplish an objective then walk away. But the difficulties are great. Unlike pursuit of Takfiris and Al-Queda in Iraq or Syria, where the terrain is mostly vast sandy desert plains, Afghaunistan is incredibly mountainous. These young mountains are almost inpenetrable by all but the most foolhardy and knowledgable of mountain rules for survival. It is difficult to get any serious battle hardware up into the mountains, and aircraft, especially helicopters, are sitting ducks passing too close to hidden manpad mortar fire.
That’s the first problem. The Talibs run to the mountains for cover so are very hard to hit en masse. Additionally, they have instilled so much fear in the civilian population that at the barrrel of a gun they can force whole villages to hide them. How can you flush them out without killing a lot of innocents?
The only way to defeat the Taliban, Al Qaeda an Haqqani etc., is at the source.
Look into the faces of the Taliban. Or Al Qaeda. These are not the older heavily-bearded guys you imagine. They are alarmingly young. So many are barely out of adolescence. Look into their eyes and see emptiness. Yes there are moments of humanity and ‘awakeness’, but they quickly lapse back into the void, that black pit where there is no conscience, no thought given to riddling a bound person or even innocent children full of bullets. Or severing a living head still pleading for life, with a hand blade. Think of the mentality it takes to do such a thing. In many cases they have no qualms about doing this to their own people!
And yet, this could well be your son or my son. Why do the young women voluntarily go to them to marry? The oldest reason in the book. Young men that are handsome and virile, seemingly without fear. Seemingly invincible. This is instinctively attractive to young girls who are growing up in lost immoral societies that the West is becoming.
The answer is to strike at the heart, at the very route of the problem. The extremist mullahs that are thoroughly brainwashing young innocent minds. They are harboured in Pakistan, in Saudi Arabian countries. Force Pakistan to stop these people from recruiting and brainwashing these kids, and turning them into cold-blooded murderers. That is the answer to eliminating the Taliban and Al Queda.
I was about to note re Larchmonter445’s comment above, even if absolutely excellently so, how totally defensive what he described of the Russian/Chinese preparedness/response is. I immediately I thought of what can be done to disrupt and eliminate western attack, to turn it back on them?
There must be offense, as well, attack at the source. Attacking The mullahs, the Taliban ideological fount certainly is major locus to focus on. Surely the East can spend some essential focus there
Pashinyan is a known tool of the UK and US. I hate saying this but Armenia is not to be trusted with him in charge.
Sadly, if this was only true. Even main Russian TV pundits are pointing to the fact of the wholesale inadequate approach of Russia to its former territories. Bogdasarov, for one, is criticizing the ineffectiveness of Russian diplomacy and soft power towards all former Soviet republics – he simply stated that it would be a great mistake to deploy any Russian troops to help one clan in favor of the other in Kazakhstan. There is an inner “elite” struggle going on in parallel.
I’ve also just listened to first deputy chairman of the committee of the State Duma for the CIS and relations with Russian nationals abroad Konstantin Zatulin on “soloviov live” and it was a very depressing conversation to listened to. He was just short of admitting that Russia has almost zero influence on Kazakh society and every time they try to apply any little influence they have, they are met with public indignation and almost infuriation.
Patrushev is surely competent, but is wholly the wrong state organ to deal with civil society and frankly power. Russia does not have a coherent strategy and is coming up short in terms strategic conceptualization, planing and organization. Khazin would call it obsolete elite consensus and model of political existence, Fursov, lack of sovereignty and not being a “strategic subject”.
Russia will either repair the damage to its world accrued over the last 30 years of negligence or it won’t. I pray for the former.
……Khazin would call it obsolete elite consensus and model of political existence, Fursov, lack of sovereignty and not being a “strategic subject”………
One should ask the Russian civil services where they have been? Or they knew and allowed everything :))? It is matter of fact that now the Russians have an army in all CSTO countries. Mybe it is time to form a state. Will they? Or again retreat pompously in front of the camera, playing bigger Democrats than Atlanticists. Expecting big steps without the consent of the bosses at the top of the pyramid is probably not possible. It may seem illogical to the people, but that is the case when the state is not sovereign. Sovereignty does not exist near the NWO interests. If countries accept military blackmail on its territory (uKraine f.e), the Marrakesh Agreement, green energy agreements, payments that are not in their currencies, WHO agreements and others to their detriment, “for a better world” then it is not called solidarity but rather “semi-colony”. Accompanied by the propaganda of the non-free media to look clean. We will see.
I have already written once, that if the living apostles are today with us and were trying to teach people something good, they would leave in a few days and say that it is an impossible mission. God’s punishment follows. For all of us, both good and bad, both smart and stupid, and egoists and altruists and activists and pacifists. For the sake of “ignorance”. For the sake of “passivity”.
Hristos se rodi! Christ is born!
The only thing that is of any importance in this life is following God’s order and afterwards, trust the mercy when God will judge you. Anything else is futile
Has the Taliban committed an act of war against any SCO member? Or do you foresee the Taliban government officially requesting intervention from a SCO task force? I agree the PLA needs combat experience, but surely Beijing and Moscow will need a solid legal justification; and I doubt the USA+UK+France would allow a UN Security Council resolution authorising such a task force to pass.
Taliban are required by International Law to rid their territory of terrorist organizations.
If they need help, Russia and China will provide assistance.
The issue is not Taliban per se, so far. But the issue is allowing AQ, Haqqani Network and ISIS-K to use Afghanistan territory.
And of course, if the Taliban attack across their borders, they will be held accountable and dealt with.
Looking the other way as thousands of ISIS fighters move through Afghanistan into Central Asia is not acceptable.
The issue is not Taliban per se, so far. But the issue is allowing AQ, Haqqani Network and ISIS-K to use Afghanistan territory.
Thanks for your clarification. I agree it is the various jihadists that need to be crushed. Last I heard the Taliban were dealing with the jihadists. From a legal point of view the most realistic option would be for the Taliban to make a formal request to the SCO for intervention. Despite the bravado I have heard from Afghan expats, I seriously doubt any combination of Afghan groups or Afghan+jihadi alliance could defeat a dedicated SCO task force.
And of course, if the Taliban attack across their borders, they will be held accountable and dealt with.
The Taliban cannot even muster enough resources to feed its own people, so I do not think they could spare any resources to mount a campaign against any of their neighbours. I also do not think even the Taliban would be stupid enough to launch cross-border raids. As mentioned above, no combination of Afghan groups could defeat a combined Iran+Pakistan+China+Russia army.
Mass migration as a weapon. You establish camp and then you militarize them. Possible to double down with UN mission like MONUSCO, or MINUSCA.
If thé Taliban will play this dirty game. Do not allow thé civil to cross thé border and put condition to furnish the Taliban with thé humanitarian means they need to help their population.
To manage thé camp is a big burden with many possibilities of provocation which will be use by thé mass media of thé west.
Should I hesitate to say that Westen conduct and actions in retaining Unipolarity against the Russian Federation geopolitical system is now forcing the re-emergence of the geopolitical region of the once USSR under another name – The Russian Federation. Meaning, correcting the Gorbachev blunder within his life time.
All they Stans are now being threatened by external Western meddling in effort to inhibit China’s Belt Road System and Russia’s E. E. U. of which they must collaborate to manage and shut-out the West permanently.
Reading my crystal ball, it shows that the West is in abject chaos and cannot fine a real remedy to fore stall its collapse except for piece meal remedies if remedies as see in Belarus and now Kazakhstan.
Thank you for that second paragraph.
I tell everyone the same thing, but they just look at me like I’m from another planet.
So sad the state of thinking.
This is a all because Gorb / Yelt failed to ensure a proper dismantling of the USSR and a treaty with US against NATO expansion. US may have lied but it would have been a big lie difficult to deny if they had a treaty back in 1990.
Now Russia have this slow moving 30 year car crash trying to prevent NATO expansion into its neighbours propping up and dealing with failed stan states and Bel & the Ukraine.
Kaz has just 18 million population to look after & is one of the worlds largest states & oil / mineral producers, you don`t need to be an ecconomist to believe logic dictates it should be one of the richest, what happened.
You are right. Russia does have its finger on the pulse. Sometimes their best moves are the barely mentioned actions they take to nip it the budd before it turns into a desperate situation.
For example: Russian intel was able to break up the assassination plot on Lukashenko. When you hear the details of the plot on the surveillance recording that clearly had some powerful western intel resources behind it.
Also, Russian intel was able to break up that Ukrainian/CIA plot to frame those Wagner contractors that were being used to somehow make Lukashenko believe that they were in Belarus to overthrow him during the confusion of the August 2019 coup.
In this case, I really do think that Russia is playing 3D chess: They allowed the color revolution attempt to happen so that they can exert a greater influence and have a greater presence in the Stans.
The upcoming meeting between Russia and USA/NATO is meaningless. There is zero chance of avoiding military confrontation. I am eagerly awaiting the the collapse of the USA empire.
I agree. The best move was to allow the color revolution to happen in this case. That got the old man Nazarbayev out of the way. Now Tokayev will be able to consolidate power and will be dependent on Russia for security. The US will not be able to use its sanctions move right away because it still has Chevron and other drilling interests there. Imposing sanctions would cause harm to those US companies if Tokayev retaliates against US sanctions.
Andrei, hope you recover fully and promptly.
A color revolution in Kazakhastan is of course a huge problem. However, it entails a bigger one: its effect on the Jan 10th Ryabkov-Sherman meeting.
Once the US fueled the Kazakhastan color revolution, the US-Russia meeting is already doomed, so Russia will resort to the pain dial and we are closer to WWIII. Am I wrong?
“And I am ready to fight for Kazakhstan, as I once did for the Dubosekovo crossing near Moscow in 1941.”
How old was this guy during Watergate, 50 or 60?
Well Dooley, if he was 20 in 1941, then he’d be a centurion today.
probabaly a machine translation artefact, I think.
one is prepared to fight as one did.
The key is in the previous sentence:
“Соответствующим образом Кремль заранее готовит ответные оборонительные меры.
И готов драться за Казахстан, как когда-то за разъезд Дубосеково под Москвой в 1941-м.”
The second sentence is referring to the Kremlin, which is “… ready to fight for Kazakhstan, as” it “once did for the Dubosekovo crossing near Moscow in 1941.”
Let’s regime change like it is Ukraine 2014 all over again. US State Dept / Pentagon action points from ealy 2021 – protecting human rights – check, supporting civil society – check, strengthening media outlets – check, plans for Pentagon facilities – check
April 3 2021: The US State Department and the US Agency for International Development (USAID) will allocate more than $1.5 million for activities aimed at strengthening the capacity of civil society organizations and “protecting human rights and freedoms” in Kazakhstan. According to the State Department’s Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor Relations, the United States is interested in providing assistance to Kazakh civil society organizations whose activities are “focused on protecting fundamental freedoms.” Washington showed particular interest in the development of “freedom of association” in the republic. The purpose of the Bureau is to promote respect for and strengthen the protection of freedom of association in Kazakhstan and ensure that the views of Kazakh citizens are fully represented in President Tokayev’s “listening state” by strong, diverse and resilient civil society organizations that are able to effectively advocate for their interests on behalf of citizens before Kazakh government officials and society at large.”
April 19 2021: The U.S. Embassy is accepting applications for grants to implement projects aimed at strengthening the Kazakhstan media market by promoting professional journalism standards, introducing innovative approaches to news collection or distribution, and supporting the development of mutual information exchange.
Project proposals should focus on one of the following topics::
Topic 1: Innovative approaches to collecting or distributing news, particularly among the younger population.
Topic 2: Promotion of professional journalism standards, in particular, fact-checking, information validation, and fact-based reporting.
Topic 3: Supporting the financial sustainability of the media in Kazakhstan, including alternative sources of income, by training the media in various business models and methods for growing their audience.
Topic 4: Support the development of exchanges or networks of professionals for better reporting, ethical and objective journalism, etc.
Topic 5: Analysis of trends in media content consumption, disinformation / misinformation in Kazakhstan and other biases.
April 22 2021: The US State Department plans to allocate up to $120,000 for an initiative to “strengthen” the media market in Kazakhstan. The program aims to strengthen the mass media in Kazakhstan by improving the professionalism of journalists and reducing the negative impact of fake news in Kazakhstan.
As it is specified, the American side intends to contribute to the” strengthening “of the media market in the Central Asian republic in several ways, for example, by financing projects on the application of” innovative approaches ” to the dissemination of news. Supporting the” financial sustainability ” of Kazakhstan’s media and developing specialist exchange programs are also in the scope of US interests under the new program. As the State Department stressed, priority will be given to the initiatives of those applicants for funding whose projects will bring ” real, measurable results.”
May 20 2021: The United States plans to spend $ 240 million to build military facilities in 20 countries around the world, namely in the Middle East and Central Asia regions, including Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.
BTW Kazakhstan hosts some of the outsourced US DTRA bioweapons research facilities. It is also a center of illicit organ transplants – from poor Kazakhs and Ukrainians to wealthy Israelis. A Kazakh doctor thought to be involved was put on trial for his part.
Excellent post and to think that some folk think it was an indigenous and popular uprising due to rising gas/vaccine mandates when we have the facts as you clearly wrote as well as what MOA, Cassad and others show that the US MIC/NGO Think Tanks “Rand/NED, etc” have been calling for a reset and allignment towards the West.
Merry Christmas to my Saker Family!
HRISTOS SE RODI, VAISTINU SE RODI!!!
I see a trapped media w/no where to go.
Thank you for this post.
All those $$$$$.
If only middle American knew where tax dollars were spent.
When I see these budgets, I always think how many early childcare centres could be free or subsidised.
How many community health clinics could be funded….
or even, how much of that could have been spent to really assist Kazakhstan
It is amazing to see how much America is indebted and in front of the whole world ashamed for the interests of the Anglo-Zio British Empire. At the same time, the English, are using America as their stick, shuffling cards to provoke conflict around the world. It is interesting to see how many Russian, Chinese, Arab, Iranian, Indian and other traitors live in London. The first concentration camps, theories of a higher race, eugenetic institutes were not German, but English. They used to be imitated by the Germans from the lower value complex, today by the Americans. Today, America is exceptional, as Obama says. Where will it end?
8 billion dollars worth of weapons left in the `stan.
Still think it was an unforced error?
83 Billion in military equipment left behind this August.
You are correct sir, …and it was not mistake…
point well taken. those weapons must have now surfaced in Kazakhstan.
@ Dick Lenning and others on the subject of the Taliban.
A voice of reason. Thank you, Dick.
Posters here launch threatening comments left and right, typical armchair generals.
The Taliban are not angels, but we owe a debt of gratitude to them for having kicked the NATO mafia out of the crossroads of Central and South Central Asia. However wrong they are to Western eyes, any people or country that has fought for decades on end against many invaders, and succeeded, deserves some basic respect.
I am sure most of the loudmouths here calling for the destruction of the Taliban cannot fight themselves out of a paper bag.
The Taliban is now under yet another “sanctions regime” and billions of dollars are being denied to the legitimate government of Afghanistan, which makes it unable to take care of their people’s basic needs. We don’t need to blame the victim, but the usual suspects, in the debacle Afghanistan is facing as I write.
“The Taliban are not angels, but we owe a debt of gratitude to them for having kicked the NATO mafia out of the crossroads of Central and South Central Asia.”
Indeed – thanks for a voice of sanity.
Under the Taliban, Afghan poppy cultivation and opium trade was essentially eliminated.
Then the USA brought “freedom & democracy” to Afghanistan, and opium production exploded under the protection of American military and CIA.
Just who are the “good guys” and who are the “bad guys”? Apparently it depends entirely on who’s writing the script and who’s buying the BS.
A further voice of reason. Kudos Line Wolf.
Thank you for the kind words.
The issue, I believe, is whether or not the Taliban are strong enough to defeat the jihadi remnants on its territory alone. Empty stomachs have a way of convincing people to do nasty things; needless to say the jihadists can easily “bribe” the Afghan population with proper meals. I believe the SCO would rather feed the Afghans instead of launching military campaigns against ISIS-K.
I know that Andrei is a bit annoyed by the Judeo-bashers who see their fingerprints all over the place but in this case, risking being perceived as one, I need to state that I at least in one comment sensed Hasbra narrative.
So I wouldn’t assign too much significance to such sentiment.
Russia wouldn’t repeatedly fly and send humanitarian help to Afghanistan, plus kept its diplomatic personal without interruptions if it wasn’t having working relationship with Taliban.
С Рождеством Андрей!
PEACEMAKERS not PEACEKEEPERS. Important difference. And I read Gerasimov is personally controlling this op. That should “send a message”.
In my view, it was a strategic error for the Kremlin to bank on diplomacy and Western good will. Perhaps Russian elites were unable to take seriously Washington’s intent to destabilize the Russian Federation in the interests of Washington’s hegemony.
The question that remains is what is the point of next Monday’s meeting between Putin and Biden?
Thinking about your questions, it occurs to me that there are three basic alternatives.
1. Russian ruling circles are riddled with traitors who have sabotaged most attempts at achieving strategic independence (it took Western sanctions and rapine of Ukraine),
2. Russia’s rulers are all patriotic and efficient administrators, politicians and diplomats but the pressure on Russia is such that it chokes off many/most opportunities to resist and push back.
3. This one is close to your statement. The Russian ruling elite had understood the danger but tried to do the barest minimum to protect the country while leaving the door open in the hope that they’d be accepted as equals by the West. Despite many friendly warnings they only began to abandon their Western dream very recently and only after repeated statements to the effect that Russia is the number one enemy of the West and a prime target for destruction.
In a sense, all three are partly true but number 3 is the winner for me.
I prefer a 4th option: Russias elites are united in their wish to defend Russian sovereignty: Russia does not want war, so it prefers the route of diplomacy and will be patient…but will also prepare for the worst as the Russian Nomenklatura KNOWS that the West is Non-Agreement -Capable and not willing to reach any compromise.. The planning is done in secrecy and sufficient force-mass is built up in advance, so as to achieve tactical surprise. So the tactic of reaching out to the West should not be misinterpreted as a weakness but rather a wish for decency and normalisation of communication.
In geopolitics, you can like non-violence and patience as much as you like. Unfortunately, only raw power matters – however it’s wielded. I shall accept your position as soon as Russia recoups all the losses in land, population, wealth and safety it has incurred in the last 30 years (which are huge). That is, when CSTO troops are at Germany’s borders again and NATO is pushed all the way to the cold shores of the Atlantic (where it belongs).
Sure …i accept your comment…but the Russian way to do this is to be patient and cautious and look at it long-term…and the reality is that ‘most’ of those parts of the Soviet Union and Warsaw Pact that ‘experienced’ the USSR and then ‘flirted’ with the Western Capitalist Cabal have had a very useful vaccination…They got to see the worst of the casino capitalism introduced by the USA and UK after 1990 and now understand that they would have been better off, remaining linked to Russia…( i spent 14 years visiting Hungary and witnessed the transformation in attitude ….so i am optimistic that Russia can regain its influence…not sure about Poland and the 3Bs though?
Sure…true enough….the Russians will also feel a little foolish after they have finally exerted some raw power…and ask themselves “that was easy…why did we not do this earlier?”
But i respect the Russian caution. They need to be sure they have enough force-mass to really punch the bully to the ground.
CSTO testing and response.
According to Avia.pro (https://avia-pro.net/news/v-kirgizii-vspyhnuli-protesty-na-fone-otpravki-voysk-v-kazahstan), peaceful protests took place in Kyrgyztan against sending troops to Kazakhstan as members of the CSTO. 24kg, a news source from Kyrgyztan, stated there were only about 20 protestors holding signs, asking deputies of Parliament not to send troops because “what is happening in Kazakhstan is internal process” and CSTO shouldn’t interfere. https://24.kg/english/219558_Protest_against_deployment_of_CSTO_peacekeepers_in_Kazakhstan_held_in_Bishkek/
A commentary from an “expert” (anonymous) in the Avia.pro article called my attention,
“It cannot be ruled out that the West is trying to find out the position of the CSTO as a whole by arranging such a check, since if the member states of the collective agreement did not react to what is happening in Kazakhstan, then there would probably not have been a reaction to a direct attack on any Russian ally, which would only free the hands of the West. The position of Kyrgyzstan is somewhat surprising, but at the moment the position on rendering assistance to Kazakhstan is official “, – the expert marks.
Kazakhstan can be many things, among them to test the reliability of the CSTO in case of aggression. And the timing could not be better, testing Russia’s vulnerabilities right on the underbelly. Clever and dangerous.
There appears to be a power struggle between Nursultan Nazarbayev (ex President) and Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. With the CSTO now sending troops in support of Tokayev it would appear he won.
I wonder why they did not do colour revolutions in all the -stans.
That would have increased the chances of success.
Which country is next for colour revolution? Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kirghizstan??
India also recently tightened up the activities of foreign funded NGOs in the country. Apparently the amount of foreign money coming to NGOs has decreased to less than a tenth of what it was in previous years.
Maybe they are catching on to the menace of foreign funded so called NGOs.
India is tilting towards Russia, or at least not tilting towards the Empire enough.
Could India be next? Certainly looks like the other Central Asian countries will be the next target.
You are right on the money!
The U S has a “terrorist” stick for India and she knows it. It started long time ago but become clearer with the withdrawal from Afghanistan. Sitting with one ass on two chairs is not going to work in the long run. Erdogan knows better. You cannot compromise with the West.
The Taliban are not a Run of the Mill ,Captagon type (Nusra and Isis) Yankee Jihadists. People in the West just do not get the differences between Ethnicity, Tradition and Religion.
Taliban mostly fought defensive wars and they should have never fought Russia in the first place.
Can the Saker please give your idea as to why Kyrgyzstan refused to send troops to Khazakstan ? thx. 🙏
They have sent troops. Mod.
It is good that CSTO responded promptly; no, it is great even. However, that does not prove that Russia expected the finer details of this colour coup. While Russian intelligence must be knowing more than what we can estimate, the level of details implied to be known in this article is too high.
The clear take away is that the US is not ready to address the concerns of Russia expressed in the memorandum presented to it. Instead, another attempt at overthrowing a government is all that was by the way of reply. Even if subsequently US comes to negotiation table and signs any agreement, it will not abide by those agreements. That’s all.
How about Russians sensing the approaching events in Kazakhstan, which prompted an ultimatum to Nato.
US Americans misinterpreted that as an opportunity to put more pressure on Russia and double down on color revolution, allowing the Russia to call it out and swiftly crashing the “protests”.
By the way, officials in Sweden are in panicking mode. Russian ultimatum is destroying their plans to move the country towards the full Nato-membership. Seems like they are sensing that USA is going to accept the terms. No Sweden-Nato exercises, no common air patrols, no Nato-ships in the Baltic … at the moment when they thought that revenge for Poltava is just around the corner.
The Domino Games are in full swing. Everything Russia and China touch or are part of the BRI has been meticulously infected with metastases in all organs by the Western aggressor and his warhead NGOs.
To prevent the dominoes from toppling further, action should be taken ASAP (NGOs Off, strict Internet, Satellite communications controlling). Speed and Strategy. The fire extinguisher
strategy will otherwise lead to even more chaos that the Western agressor is so eager to spread across the (Eastern) world. The well-organized planning and training of the bloodhounds lights up the sky to Starlink. Follow the flow of money and you will see the fish shining in the murky waters.

OpenElement

Google-translate from Mod:-
Let us notice that the Taliban is not here – he did not take any participation in the Kazakh “Orange Revolution” or in the incident at the Turkmen-Afghan border (05.01.2022).
First, we (RF) with the Taliban, a serious agreement – they will not allow them to violate the bayat (oath of loyalty), besides, it is for the movement of Pushtuns threatens the “Taliban” end of the story.
Secondly, the nationalistic (small) jihad Taliban is limited by the territory of a partially recognized state [Islamic Emirate] Afghanistan.
And thirdly, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Kabul and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan denied the information that “in the border area of Hamyab in the province of Jauzhan, Turkmen border guards killed one Afghan peaceful inhabitant and beat another.”
But it should be borne in mind that in Afghanistan there are about 10,000 foreign terrorist militants who are members of al-Qaida, the Islamic Party of Turkestan (type / Tip / etip / etim), Katibat Imam al-Bukhari (Kib / KIB), Katibat Al Tauhid Val Jihad (KTD / KTJ), Union of Islamic Jihad (LED / IJU) and Jamaat Ansarulla (Ja / JA). https://documents-dds-gny.un.org/doc/undoc/gen/n21/107/61/pdf/n2110761.pdf?openelement
Slip to them, at least 1 (one) of the militants returned to Kazakhstan – so-called. “Repatriated” US from Syria Ms. Blinds (USA) with Tokayev and Nazar-Baev (RK).
Which strongly, and should be recognized as noticeless, the Islamic state of Horacean (ISK / ISK) will be recruited.
I repeat: not ig [Il] with al-Qaeda, who is recovered at least a year, namely, Mr. Horacean, who promises Central Asian jihadists to create World Califat (of course under hidden financing, management … and coordination of the USA)))!
Recently, the central leadership of ISIL (CIA) decided to financially strengthen its Khorasan branch of the IG and … The transboundary movement of militants with recruitment of new militants from Central Asia was activated.
The minimum term of full recovery of Ig Horasan, Igil, Albkida: 4 – 10 months, the term of recovery of IHIL and Alkaida.
Revival of IGH / ISK, armed with modern weapons, incl. The US left in Afghans – is intended to turn the Region of Central Asia (Central Asia), – including Xinjiang-Uygur AR of China, – into the global threat of terrorism, requiring (immediate) international forces / United States intervention with the provision of infrastructure for the deployment of air bases US / NATO in the former Soviet republics.
So-called Podkoka airfields – accurate at the borders of the Russian Federation and the PRC, on the land plot of the new Silk Road of the PRC-RK-RF-EU, PRC-RK-RU-T-Iry-Tr-EU.
In parallel, Washington will play as a map of economic partnership, financial support and protection of human rights as a tool to counter the rise of the Beijing initiative “one belt, one way” and the approval of Moscow of the Eurasian Economic Union.
Merry Christmas! – Happiness to all !!!
“Where is the evidence that if they are foreign operatives?”
You mean, you want them to show their CIA funded NGO’s IDs with their name and address, just in case the Kazakh police stop them they can say “I am a card-carrying member of such-and-such NGO?”
Police officers are being beheaded, where did we see that last time recently? The taqfiris in Syria and Iraq. Man-pads have been stolen, and now the protesters have declared their intentions to control the airspace by threatening airplanes landing in Almaty. Protesters have assaulted police stations, government offices, airports, military installations, you name it, and they are threatening to take Baikonur. Why do they need space rockets if all they want is to lower the price of gas? Wake up and smell the coffee.
No popular uprising I know of, and I know that firsthand, needs Man-pads to further their interests or push for their petitions, whatever those might be. On the contrary, legit popular uprisings, even if violent, avoid the use of weapons that can justify a repressive regime to react killing people wholesale.
Though the reasons for the uprising could have been legit, it was hijacked early on by the usual suspects, which tainted the movement and turned it into a foreign manipulated terror enterprise.

“ Can the Saker please give your idea as to why Kyrgestan refused to send troops to Khazakstan ? thx.”
Seek and you will find.
First, it had to go to the Parliament, which overwhelmingly voted 69-7 to send troops to Kazakhstan within the CSTO frame.
Here is the number of servicemen they will send.
And this is the unit, a special forces unit called “Scorpion.”
An added perk, an article from Russian TASS questioning whether CSTO’s presence in Kazakhstan is legitimate or not, if the invitation was legit. Jen Psaki, lying through her teeth, once again. That’s what she gets paid for.
Киргизия пока не является членом ОДКБ.
Whatever happens, let’s hope it results in humiliation and defeat for Uncle $hmuel.
The article settled it in my mind. The US is desperately predictable and incapable. The article documents the preparation and the recent changes in Russia’s policy to NATO. It us a puzzle no longer. Today the US and Russua meet, the US is due for a public humiliation the end play unfolds thus year…
RATS SCO is ready to provide the necessary assistance to Kazakhstan upon request
– The regional anti-terrorist structure of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization / RATS SCO / is ready to provide the necessary assistance to the competent authorities of Kazakhstan upon request.
This is stated in a statement by the executive committee of the structure, the press service of the department reported on Friday.
The Executive Committee expressed serious concern over the situation in Kazakhstan and support for the decisive comprehensive measures of the country’s leadership to ensure public safety and protect the constitutional order.
“We are confident that the measures implemented by the state, law enforcement and special bodies will make it possible to neutralize the illegal actions of terrorist and bandit groups and cells in the shortest possible time. We express our deep condolences to the families and friends of the dead servicemen and law enforcement officers who performed their military and official duties, “in the statement.
Recall that the SCO member states are India, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
On January 6, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced that he had requested assistance from the Collective Security Treaty Organization in ending the unrest in the country. The CSTO contingent arrived in Kazakhstan and began to protect vital facilities, airfields, key infrastructure.
You are right, but I will add – as they say, news from the field. )))
– Moscow knew about this operation for a long time, the CIA and the Mi-6 (partly the Mossad), in the Kremlin in June Nazabay was strictly warned, in December in St. Petersburg at the forum there was a flogging for the second time together with Tokayev.
– Russia provoked a false start – in the very near term, a terrorist attack with the seizure of the Kazakh-Chinese plant “Ulba-TVS”, which received (?)) On November 16 the Central Asian region along with the military provation of Nazi Ukraine, but …
