The People’s Republic of China, the French Republic, the Russian Federation, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and the United States of America consider the avoidance of war between Nuclear-Weapon States and the reduction of strategic risks as our foremost responsibilities.
We affirm that a nuclear war cannot be won and must never be fought. As nuclear use would have far-reaching consequences, we also affirm that nuclear weapons – for as long as they continue to exist – should serve defensive purposes, deter aggression, and prevent war. We believe strongly that the further spread of such weapons must be prevented.
We reaffirm the importance of addressing nuclear threats and emphasize the importance of preserving and complying with our bilateral and multilateral non-proliferation, disarmament, and arms control agreements and commitments. We remain committed to our Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) obligations, including our Article VI obligation “to pursue negotiations in good faith on effective measures relating to cessation of the nuclear arms race at an early date and to nuclear disarmament, and on a treaty on general and complete disarmament under strict and effective international control.”
We each intend to maintain and further strengthen our national measures to prevent unauthorized or unintended use of nuclear weapons. We reiterate the validity of our previous statements on de-targeting, reaffirming that none of our nuclear weapons are targeted at each other or at any other State.
We underline our desire to work with all states to create a security environment more conducive to progress on disarmament with the ultimate goal of a world without nuclear weapons with undiminished security for all. We intend to continue seeking bilateral and multilateral diplomatic approaches to avoid military confrontations, strengthen stability and predictability, increase mutual understanding and confidence, and prevent an arms race that would benefit none and endanger all. We are resolved to pursue constructive dialogue with mutual respect and acknowledgment of each other’s security interests and concerns.
Excuse my pessimism. For the below reasons:
1. The empire’s well known habitual lying
2. The empire’s well known tearing up of paper treaties
It sounds like an attempt to trick Russia and China into dismantling their hypersonic nuke warheads while it’s business as usual for proliferating the empire’s dual use Aegis Ashore launchers and further secret development of US hypersonic missile tech.
The west wants to first disarm you of your weapons, and then secondly your finances.
Disagree w/either one, and you get a fight.
No the initiative was driven by Russia. There is no trick – it is a statement and they got the FUKUS to be party to it:
“Joint statement of five nuclear powers’ leaders initiated by Russia – diplomat
Maria Zakharova emphasized that Moscow strongly believes that there can be no winners in a nuclear war and that it must never be unleashed……..”This document was formulated on our initiative and with the most active participation of Russian representatives. Its release was supposed to coincide with the start of Tenth Review Conference of the Parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons. It had been scheduled to open in New York on January 4, but was postponed due to the worsening epidemiological situation in the United States. Nevertheless, given the importance and self-sufficiency of this joint statement, the nuclear powers decided not to delay its publication,” the diplomat said……”
this comment has been flagged as of little/no value (possibly troll) by the saker
Do nuclear weapons actually exist? It has been more than three quarters of a century since their first alleged use. The device(s) thrown on Hiroshima was not nuclear, as physician and microbiologist Michael Palmer has shown (https://archive.org/details/Hiroshima_revisited).
Given the fact that many if not most politicians in high office tend to be psychopaths, is would not seem credible that since 1945 not a single one of them has succumbed to the temptation of using nuclear bombs.
Hence methinks serious doubts are in order regarding the very existence of “nuclear weapons.”
How unfortunate! To suspect me of being a troll is in my opinion absolutely incomprehensible. I included a link to the book by Michael Palmer which I strongly recommend, and which is, in my opinion as a professional historian and author of a number of scholarly articles in peer reviewed journals and solid monographs, a work to be taken very seriously.
I regard your site as a very solid and of high quality, and honestly I would be very grateful if you would if you could explain why you flagged my comment as “of little/no value.”
I fail to understand why a comment expressing doubts about the existence of nuclear weapons would be out of place with respect to a piece on the peaceful intentions of the five recognized “nuclear powers.”
It’s not to a far a leap to go from nuclear generated electricity, to nuclear generated bomb.
And w/video’s and holes, and radiations of proof, perhaps it was the denial that was in question, there’s a lot of that going around in political circles.
Hans, have you ever looked at any of the videos of nuclear weapon tests? https://nuclearfamine.org/nuclear-weapons-explained/nuclear-weapons-tests-youtube-video-library/
The US began dropping atomic bombs on the Nevada Proving Grounds in 1951. Over 1000 nuclear detonations took place there. Wikipedia has a comprehensive list https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nevada_Test_Site
Many regions in the US were heavily irradiated, but the Federal government kept this information secret . . . a physicist named Richard Miller has managed to construct fallout maps from limited data released for thyroid cancer studies by the National Cancer Institute, see https://www.260press.com/gallery-27.htm and https://www.260press.com/nuclear-fallout-nevada-test-site.htm
Hydrogen bombs, which were too large to be detonated in Nevada, were detonated in the Marshall Islands, where 67 enormous blasts vaporized coral atolls and irradiated the inhabitants, leaving uninhabitable islands and 130 tons of highly radioactive waste that is likely to wind up in the Pacific, see https://www.latimes.com/projects/marshall-islands-nuclear-testing-sea-level-rise/
The Federation of American Scientists estimates that there are now about 13100 nuclear weapons in the arsenals of the nuclear weapon states. The US and Russia are estimated to have about 91% of these weapons, see https://nuclearfamine.org/articles/solutions/
I fail to understand why a comment expressing doubts about the existence of nuclear weapons would be out of place
It violates rule #11
That you are unable to understand that is sad, but not my problem.
Yes Hans Vogel, nuclear weapons do exist.
You see, there are no serious doubts among the cadre of competent military analysts.
I would strongly suggest that this line of inquiry is a non-starter here.
Three abject lies in their statement:
“We reiterate the validity of our previous statements on de-targeting, reaffirming that none of our nuclear weapons are targeted at each other or at any other State.”
“We intend to continue seeking bilateral and multilateral diplomatic approaches to avoid military confrontations, strengthen stability and predictability, increase mutual understanding and confidence, and prevent an arms race that would benefit none and endanger all.”
“We are resolved to pursue constructive dialogue with mutual respect and acknowledgment of each other’s security interests and concerns.”
Are these sad fabrications not laughable in a dark manner?
The penultimate news of the day is the insane encroachment by NATO and the US (positioning nuclear weapons and building and operation biolabs) against the Russian Federation.
The words of the Joint Statement are hopes, far-fetched wishes. Like the kind made with a turkey wishbone.
Why aren’t Pakistan, India and Israel signatories? And you might as well add Japan who is damn close to having weapons, just like North Korea.
This is dancing round the maypole.
The Russian hypersonic missiles have the Hegemon worried. So they whip out the old Big Five affiliation and pledge bullshit to assuage the Russians, the only signatory the world trusts. This changes nothing.
Putin said it: Actions not words or treaties that are written with disappearing ink.
What a charade!
The good thing is that it is on paper. With the treaties having been walked away from one by one, this is about all we have. I think it is a good start to the meeting of the 10th with the US – at least the wishlist has been published.
How does one deal with the criminal and unreliable force? You make sure everyone in the world knows what they agreed to. Pakistan and India must follow. Israel (criminal and unreliable) will never disclose unless someone makes them! But their importance is reducing.
Slow down there Larchmonter :-) How fast do you want Russia and China to move? It’s only been a few days!
(Let’s now all sing We Are The World .. lol).
Amarynth, my lady, I can think of some other songs to sing but I don’t think you are old enough to hear them. One starts with ‘Round and round the quarter deck, the Cap’n he……. That’s all that’s suitable for tender ears. Then there’s the one about the telephone operator whose skirts were blue. You ain’t old enough for that one, either.
I would start with the biolabs. They have to go NOW.
I would follow with the new B-61 nuclear warheads. Out of Europe. They are US property and controlled by US. They have to go home.
A new OPEN SKIES treaty so US UAVs and Spy Planes don’t have to fly right into Russia near abroad and borders. If necessary, more open skies flights per year.
Those three Actions would make for reduced tensions.
As for Israel, they get 10 days to own up to their stockpile of nukes or they get all trade shut down.
On the 12th day, they’ll be wide open.
NPT is toothless if it doesn’t use the Big Five power to coerce compliance.
You can’t have a two decks of cards for a game like this.
UNSC power has to be applied to all suspects for nuclear security to have a chance.
Nukes don’t scare me much, it’s a big bomb with a finite blast dispersion area and a finite, in the beginning, radiation dose. Chem/bio scares the crap out of me and has for 50 years once I attended ‘the class’ on that nasty stuff.
Those same people were convinced to pay for those things, you want them to just walk away, return their stuff and get a 50% restocking fee, that’s what you’ll run into if you actually tried that act.
The best you can do is no new sales, no new military recruits, and then let the rust win the war in 15 years.
very good point indeed. The biolabs should be closed faster than ASAP. US keep their biolabs inside its borders. Then all NATO crap move back to where it was in 1991.
“How does one deal with the criminal and unreliable force?”
The Russians forgot a provision that requires the same provisions to back out as for getting in, in the case of Americastan, two-thirds of the Senate.
Looks like another Western fake out to me. I forget which episode of which Star Trek series it was, but I vaguely recall something roughly analogous between a Federation captain and a high level Cardassian where they were talking peace but both new war was imminent.
In the case of the Union State of Americastan, Israel, and Perfidious Albion, the statement is not worth the paper it is printed on without making this joint statement a treaty itself with the above provision the Russians forgot when writing the draft treaties. Otherwise, I see this as something that were it not that 1) we are likely to have the ultimate barbecue as early as the day of American Carnival or even earlier, and 2) Russia and China are involved, it would be something that would be more appropriate on 32 March 2022.
Making deals with the Union State of Americastan, Israel, and Perfidious Albion and getting it in writing is still worse than oral contracts with Ferengis.
SehSha has already been told that the documents they were handed is not a menu to chose from, it is basically ‘do it or else’. Russia does not bluff and SehSha is pulling their usual game of putting off the this time inevitable by doing her best to get in to long term negotiations.
Bottom line, either do what President Putin says or you will speak to General Shoigu. Your choice, Foggy Bottom, your choice. Here, I’ll use the same analogy I’ve used before. The local situation is taut as a drawn bow with the arrow notched and ready to let fly.

How do you explain, Russia selling its gas and commodities to its adversaries? In which currency is Russia paying Ukraine its transit fees?
Russia and its cheerleaders brag about the U$A buying commodities from it. However, the U$A pay for those purchases in the US$. It will be happy to buy all its resources in the US$ and then hold Russia hostage. When Russia buys goods from the U$A it pays in which currency? Why this asymmetry?
Please share the agreements led by Russia’s diplomats over the last decade that have been successfully implemented and the conflict resolved completely. Russia doesn’t have a good track record in the external affairs. Why?
Why are you asking me? How am I to know what currency is paid to the orcs for gaz transit? Maybe Mother deducts what the orcs steal in the transit process and pays them a few kopyeki in addition. Mayhap you should ring up VVP and ask him, I’m sure he has the time to address your concerns.
‘Russia and it’s cheerleaders…. etc etc etc’. Well, here’s reality. I have cancer. I’ve got another 6 or 7 years to go which will puts me in my early ’80’s which is the age the men in my now almost gone family live to. I am a legal resident of Rossiya, not a citizen (that’s later this year).
Every kopyek of my extensive medical treatments is paid by Government. CAT scans, which are frequent, chemo, xrays, blood tests every time for chemo, EKG’s, VCO’s and my 16 days each in Covid Hospital #1 in October (including Doktor visits to house and ambulance with screaming siren for both of us, I went two days after Ye’lean’chka went in), everything right down to aspirin is paid. The only form I ever see is when I sign in to whichever Hospital I’m treated in (either #4 near us or Oncology Hospital on southside.) and that’s just ‘Is you here? Yup, I’m here.’ Hospital does all the paperwork and collects from Government. How’s your health care in SehSha? Cost? Hassle for payments and ‘deductions’? Do you own property? Will your ‘insurance’ come for your property heirs when you kick the bucket? They won’t and don’t here.
I am also listed as 100% disabled now. I get a small pension because of the damage cancer has done to me (can’t even mow the grass, Doktor’s orders), in essence Mother buys my beer and wine, plus I don’t pay in the paid parking lots or buses (we ALWAYS pay in the buses anyway, most are privately owned) and we get a roughly 10% discount on gas, electric and water supply etc etc etc ETC. What do you get? It’s gas income that pays for health care, child care, special education for the disabled children and adults, aging veterans….and lots of hypersonic missiles, submarines that are nothing but a black hole in the sea, nice new antiaircraft missile systems, you know, the things that make life livable in Ground Zero.
As for what successes has Rossiya had? I live in Sevastopol for 17 years. My wife and I are active with 35th Battery, ergo we were in Naxhimov Square on that fateful day in February of 2014 and other days. The Flag of Rossiya floating over The Federal City of Sevastopol and The Autonomous Republik of Krimea is not a success? This begs the question of ‘what is a success in your eyes?’. You don’t live here, you have not a clue of life here. And please don’t come for a visit.

Thanks for your response and sharing your personal story. I appreciate it.
The crux of my earlier comment to you is that Russia-Putin can do 10X better to play the geopolitical game and take on the Empire. Russia has been very slow in non-military dimensions and has been repeatedly fooled (please refer to my comment below in this post for details) by the Empire. Individual lives will be 10x better if the Empire is gone, as nations can create sovereign money and invest in their people. An enlightened citizenry is indispensable for the proper functioning of a nation.
Russia it seems to pay in euros (% of charged amount) to Ukraine. They need to pay only in rubles. Similarly, Russia will benefit a lot and strengthen its currency power by selling in rubles. It won’t have to increase the retirement age for its citizens to 67. The Russian central bank wants Russians to work more but seems to be following orthodox policies when it comes to the monetary & fiscal dimension, disappointing.
Let’s see if Russia will be fooled again this time or get its security guarantees.
In protest of Max’s rudeness to you, and to the occasion of me finally having the ducats, I bought copies of all three of your books in support. Hope it helps a little. And I’m piling on with Incident…right now. Mountains of North Cali where we are having 50 mph guests with snow on the way. We’re cuddled under the electric blanket with hot cocoa and vino, waiting for the sunset as your story unfolds in our mid-winter. Solidarity friend. Peace, comfort and safety to you and yours from Uly, Viv, and Rube.
my feelings. May God warm your heart and bring you peace. We are all on this passing planet, the best is yet to come. You are a champion and connected to justice. Thanks for your precious books.
I have always looked forward to your posts and you have my admiration, as well as my sympathy for your medical condition. I have some problems with cancer, too, and as you say, the medical care here in the US is all about how much private insurance you can afford. I hope you don’t feel poorly and I wish you all the best.
Admiration. Read both books. Heroes. Have cancer too. Wish you long and happy life as a citizen. Hope, God willing, will come to visit Mamayev Kurgan and Simonka, to pay tribute. Respect. Thanks.
Milan, if you manage to visit our fair city please let me know. We will take you to places and you will see things that ‘ordinary’ visitors will never see and talk to locals that no one ever talks to. You have the link to my site so you know how to contact me.
Auslander, thank you very much. Will do gladly.
All the best. Milan
I thank you all for your support. Max is just an annoying troll in my opinion and unfortunately for him, he caught me in an unpleasant mood, which is rare.
I do not fear death, we all die, what I fear is leaving my wife alone. I am all she has so the rest of my life will be spent in preparing for her support when the inevitable happens.
On the other hand, all is not doom and gloom in this household. Our Doktors are amazed that we laugh and joke with each other and with them, a far cry from what they usually see and hear. Our opinion is why not, continue life as normal. Since I arrived in this berg we’ve been through two wars, one still ongoing up north, and a revolution and we’re facing another and very serious war. What else can one do besides laugh in the face of tragedy and misfortune?
This was surreal. It was like a sick joke, or a time capsule back to the empty deliberations of the League of Nations.
Perhaps the double helix is shaping the terrain for Nuremberg Trials II. At this point, in order to save themselves from general annihilation, the less criminal faction will need to deliver the more criminal faction for hanging, for redress and to help the mesmerized insouciants of this Earth move on from a decomposing Empire.
What stood out in this short statement was “…our Article VI obligation “to pursue negotiations in good faith on effective measures relating to … to nuclear disarmament, and on a treaty on general and complete disarmament under strict and effective international control.”…” How to accomplish that!
First: I have not seen this joint statement presented in any Western new media yeat. Why?
Second: I fully agree with Larchmonter 445 on this subject.
Third: The joint statement sound like a PR announcement to a terrified world population. The global population now comprehends the nuclear threat arising from the tension between US-NATO vs Russia-China, and the 5 biggest Nuclear weapons States has to calm down humanity before they riot against their own incineration.
Not since the Cuba crisis has the threat of global nuclear war been greater.
The only action which has ever succeeded in ending nuclear weapons escalation, was the Hippie movement putting flowers in the gun barrel of US soldiers in 1962, while conducting mass demonstrations in the USA against the US nuclear missiles erected in Italy and Turkey, and the resulting erection of USSR nuclear missiles in Cuba.
Back then Nordic leaders realized that the only way to de-escalate the threat of nuclear war was for smaller Nations to declare that they would never have Nuclear weapons on their territory in times of Peace.
However to use such a declaration on a global scale must condemn any use of Nuclear weapons as a Crime against humanity, and the nuclear weapons free Nations must oversee, investigate and charge any use of such weapons at the international court in the Hage. But that has not happened under the watch of the UN.
The UN has failed since the war in the former Yugoslavia, just like the league of Nations failed to avoid WWII.
If the above joint statement is true, then the most positive aspect is that western leaders are finally taking the warnings from President Putin serious.
Superb summation A. Dane. I saw a article on MSN this morning and it didn’t look pretty and of course with a giant Chinese flag and a smaller RF banner. Even to me, it looks like the west grabbing their ankles in mutual intimidation. I also agree one hundred percent with Larchmonter, who I consider a guru of sorts on so many things. I’m totally down with the hippie assessment. Had my father not been sent to Vietnam with his SOG wing of the Air Force, I may have had both a different life and a different world view. I fought tooth and nail alongside millions of others worldwide to end the madness. Sadly, the hippie generation may have been the only generation to win a revolution, end a war, only to lose interest to go drink beer and play Frisbee. Smaller countries need bigger voices. At the end of the day, any nation is the equal of any other. Funny how the US democracy and their woke end of racism meme only exists within their borders. Thanks for some thought provocation.
The 1962 Cuban missile crisis ? There were no public demonstrations during the crisis, and there no hippies until 1965 at the earliest. The peace movement has had precious few moments of success. I participated in events of the era, and hippies were more of a diversion than a resource. Being a hippie was a way to avoid the issues, a way to avoid the military, but also a way to avoid the serious work of building a strong anti-war movement. By 1972, being a long hair was a way to slink away from the hard work. I’m not tooting my own horn because while I was a sort of hippie and relatively very strong in the anti-war movement, I well remember a long argument with a member of the hard-core would-be working class (although they personally were upper-class in origin) movement called Progressive Labor. I favored pot, “doing your own thing”, I hoped the hippies would morph into the anti-war coalition that never happened, and I shared my fear that PL could turn Stalinist. The hIppie movement was always a mixed blessing.
Last thing to say, and this is important, is that the real hippies, such as the Diggers, had a good idea of what they wanted to do and knew it would take years. The Diggers and similar people were overwhelmed when the Time-Life magazine empire ran articles which sent 200,000 American teenagers and young adults off to San Francisco for the 1967 “Summer Of Love”. The resulting chaos effectively destroyed the core of the hippie movement. and in October, 1967, the original hippies staged a public “Death Of The Hippie” funeral. The funeral meant to draw a line between what they wanted, and the mess that existed, but it didn’t work. If the intelligent heart of a movement, an elite you might say, can be shattered and disillusioned, then the decay of the remainder is only a matter of a few years. For the Empire, it was crucial that the hippies not have a hard-core, and the hippies obliged the Empire because they were, after all, just American kids.
Well, I don’t doubt that you lived through those times.
I was not allowed to stay up late in 1962, however we had TV, and saw on the 8 o’clock news the Cuba crisis unfold with JFK in conversation with Khrushchev.
Maybe you (were high and) forgot that a new trend was brewing in America and Europe in the late 50s.
During the 50s Rich Kids were send to universities with a sentiment toward “Authority” quite different than the Red White and Blue supremacy that their parents believed in. These students started the Anti-war and civil rights movements and later it became fashionable (Hip) to be a Hippie (Progressive), even if you could not afford such an “Easy living” or “Free” lifestyle.
The working and middle class Kids were the ones send to Vietnam to fight the war, not the Rich Kids, and the Hippies did whatever they could to avoid the draft. Check out Jack Nicholson: One flew over the cuckoos nest.
John Fogerty (a Southern Red neck) penned the lyrics for this time, in the song released in 1969 by CCR:
It Aint me.
Hello A. Dane,
You ask: “First: I have not seen this joint statement presented in any Western new media year. Why?”
IMO, this was a public relations (propaganda) statement crafted for the NPT Review Conference that was scheduled to start on January 4, now postponed until August.
hello A. Dane,
I also would like to comment on the final paragraphs of your post; you write:
“Back then Nordic leaders realized that the only way to de-escalate the threat of nuclear war was for smaller Nations to declare that they would never have Nuclear weapons on their territory in times of Peace.”
My comment: That is indeed part of Article III in the NPT https://www.un.org/disarmament/wmd/nuclear/npt/text/ which Russia has told the US to honor in its recent draft treaty.
You also write; “However to use such a declaration on a global scale must condemn any use of Nuclear weapons as a Crime against humanity, and the nuclear weapons free Nations must oversee, investigate and charge any use of such weapons at the international court in the Hague. But that has not happened under the watch of the UN.”
I would say that an initial attempt has been made, in the form of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (the TPNW, also called the Ban Treaty), see https://www.un.org/disarmament/wmd/nuclear/tpnw/ 122 states voted in favor of the Treaty; the negotiations were boycotted by the five nuclear weapon states (who presented the Joint Statement written above). The Ban Treaty has been ratified by more than 50 of the signatories and went into effect almost a year ago.
Article 1 of the Ban Treaty lists the Prohibitions:
1. Each State Party undertakes never under any circumstances to:
(a) Develop, test, produce, manufacture, otherwise acquire, possess or stockpile nuclear weapons or other nuclear explosive devices;
(b) Transfer to any recipient whatsoever nuclear weapons or other nuclear explosive devices or control over such weapons or explosive devices directly or indirectly;
(c) Receive the transfer of or control over nuclear weapons or other nuclear explosive devices directly or indirectly;
(d) Use or threaten to use nuclear weapons or other nuclear explosive devices;
(e) Assist, encourage or induce, in any way, anyone to engage in any activity prohibited to a State Party under this Treaty;
(f) Seek or receive any assistance, in any way, from anyone to engage in any activity prohibited to a State Party under this Treaty;
(g) Allow any stationing, installation or deployment of any nuclear weapons or other nuclear explosive devices in its territory or at any place under its jurisdiction or control.
IMO, the primary purpose of the Ban Treaty was to place nuclear weapons in the same category as biological and chemical weapons, and thereby create a moral stigma against their manufacture, possession, or use. The US dislikes this and prefers to maintain the fiction that is is working “in good faith” to eliminate nuclear weapons via the NPT. Of course, all the nuclear weapon states are constantly modernizing their arsenals, and the 52-year-old NPT is described by some as a form of “nuclear apartheid” that allows the nuclear weapon states to maintain their nuclear arsenals.
Nuclear abolition will likely remain a pipe dream as long as the US continues to aggressively seek global dominance. Most Western anti-nuclear activists are brainwashed by the official Washington narrative these days and tend to go along with the various “Russian aggression” themes that dominate the Western corporate news. This is unfortunate, but it probably makes little difference in terms of achieving their goals, since Russia and China will certainly not consider disarmament in the face of increasing provocations and intrusions by the US/UK/NATO.
Perimetr wrote: IMO, this was a public relations statement crafted for the NPT Review Conference that was scheduled to start on January 4, now postponed until August.
My comment: If so it explains the lack of Western News on the subject.

This has got to stop.
And those responsible charged with crimes against humanity.
My bifocal eyeglasses are not working today for some reason. I’m unable to find Israel on the list of signatories to the NPT (Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons) even though the world knows the Zionist State has nuclear weapons in its possession.
Can someone in the Saker community find Israel’s name alongside other responsible nations?
Maybe the Rabbis have evoked a Kabbalah magical word that fools other countries into believing Israel does not have to abide to the UN treaty, because, well, they’re special.
It is not policy until it is denied, at least in the hegemon. The unincorporated territory of France of the Union State of Americastan, Israel, and Peridious Albion does not count. This is two or three days shy of three months too early, 32 March 2022 to be exact, like I would be naive enough to fall for this one.
Larchmonter445’s post is a great reason for a like button.
“We remain committed to our Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) obligations”
The statement by the five nuclear weapons States is a pack of Lies. Take the small case of the jcpoa. All States involved in addition to the UN Security Council agreed to put overwhelming and unprecedented International controls on the Iranian civilian nuclear industry. And what did Iran want in return? That the US would return to Iran it’s Sovereign funds that the US has stolen. What did the u.s. do? Within a short period of time after the agreement had been signed they reneged on the whole agreement and stole even more Iranian funds.
The published statement by the nuclear bomb powers is a pack of Lies.
“we also affirm that nuclear weapons – for as long as they continue to exist – should serve defensive purposes, deter aggression, and prevent war. We believe strongly that the further spread of such weapons must be prevented.”
I hold that when it comes to the topic of nuclear weapons, we should always remind our dear Americans at the beginning of the conversation what they have done. So that war crime is not forgotten. Thus, America used nuclear weapons against the civilian population of Japan towards the end of WWII. That is fine according to American perverted Christian and moral principles. Especially when they put their hand on the bible. So when America talks about nuclear weapons and agreements, we have that in mind.
From this statement in quotation marks on top, it can be concluded that nuclear weapons should not and will not be used in armed conflict between the parties (possessing nuclear weapons). If it is used, (and it will, of course, when it already exists) it will be over an enemy force that does not have the possibility of retaliation with nuclear weapons or if nuclear weapons have already been used. So the planet earth is partially safe. It also follows from the above statement in quotation marks that the possession of nuclear weapons is desirable because it serves as a deterrent. But only those who already have it can have that weapon :-). No one else. Who will decide which country should be threatened with war and which should not have nuclear weapons to deter? Based on interests or moral / theological / humane principles? Because both America and the Russian Federation, the UK, France and others act on the basis of interests and some of them on the basis of international law. Not on a moral / theological or human basis.
Yep. Sure. Duly noted. I’m putting this article directly into my circular file for ultra-secure storage — where it will forever reside right next to the Lost Ark (and, almost certainly, this comment).
Now, moving onto something actually worth reading, we have the following wildly Off Topic article.
Funny, especially if the initiative comes from the Russian side. Why it needs prove itself to the West that has biological weapons laboratories around Russia’s borders? Which has interest to bring nuclear weapons to “certain” countries. The West, which has been destroying the international order for thirty years. The West, which is destroying the UN?.
Putin’s “threat” that the West will die as a sinner and Russia as a saint has now special weight :)).
Just to ask the question ….. whether Israel, as a member that has not signed the agreement, has the right to use weapons for its own interests, North Korea, Pakistan or India. Or they are allowed by NWO rules to reduce the populations of other countries. Will Russia and America, which have large populations of their former citizens in Israel, look through Israel’s fingers? If it doesn’t for them, then because of Elvira and Kudrin, Greif, etc. and of course the settlement bank in Basel?
I believe that after the numerous “intimidations” expressed by US, the Russian leaders will wait for the agreement at the beginning of January and will declare victory :)). Even Kadyrov had to apologize to the Ukrainians :)). Gas flows, swift, and … the mountain shook, a mouse was born.
“The People’s Republic of China, the French Republic, the Russian Federation, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and the United States of America consider the avoidance of war between Nuclear-Weapon States and the reduction of strategic risks as our foremost responsibilities.”
So all of them would gladly agree to the following:
– Setup of an UN-AIEA body formed by 4 or 5 directors of non-aligned countries (for instance, India, Pakistan, Brazil, Argentina and Egypt)
– This new body will establish a schedule of inspections in all of these countries, which will be massive in scale and paid by the 5 “accepted” nuclear powers
– The inspections and enquiries will have unrestricted access to information and facilities, supervised by military personnel of each of the 5 states involved (in order to not leak sensitive defence info).
– Once the inspections and reports are concluded, the body will issue a decision on the mandatory actions so as to assure that no nuclear weapons remain in any of the said states.
– Each nuclear state will proceed with dismantling or destroying their arsenal under UN-AIEA supervision and at their own expenses (if they built these toys, they pay for their disposal).
Similar procedures will be established by the 5 veto members to the “renegade” nuclear powers (Israel, North Korea, India, Pakistan)
Would they accept this or is it just an additional piece of paper?
Bla Bla Bla…
We need a nuclear war…as per the scripture the messiah will come to redeem humanity.
1. Take out Nato HQ in Romania.
2. Obliterate Nato HQ in Bulgaria.
3. Neutralize filth in Ukraine.
4. Nuke biolabs around Russia – at least viruses won’t escape.
5. Do not sign any agreement with the devil, hence no Open-Skies treaty.
6. Let ’em test their own medicine – weren’t they the first country to use nuclear bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki ?
China is a historical fact of truth, which has successfully identified and cleansed the underlying evil, which has destroyed many countries as well as the USSR. China has washed away its Gorbachev, whose name was Zhao Ziyang, and prevented color revolutions in Tiananmen Square, after the deliberate bombing of its embassy, China began unimaginable military progress. China remains one of the most promising paths for the world of creation, which Western nations must join if they are to free themselves from the coming dark age over themselves. And this China-encouraged avoidance of nuclear war and call with Russia, France, England and the US is a peace of prosperity that is a blessing to the world. But what, in the case of a country that is a nuclear power and officially does not have nuclear weapons, what about Israel, a country that is a nuclear wanderer: that should be asked of the West, England and America, because it is really out of control of nuclear war.
Russia can checkmate the Financial Empire, achieve its security either way, and energize a better world! Why do nations have nuclear weapons? To show off or bully, …
Why has Russia been selling gas and commodities to its enemies? Which stupid energize their opponents? No selling of gas, oil, commodities,… to adversaries. Russia needs to declare that it won’t sell gas to nations that want to harm Russia (including its businesses) or provide military bases to its adversaries. In summary, Russia won’t energize its opponents. This will strengthen Russia’s security even without guarantees from NATO and so the U$A will be in a bind.
Also, Russia needs to price its resources in rubles and do currency swaps with partners. No currency swaps with opponents. Nation would be forced to work with Russia and not be a threat. Ukraine will need to decide if it wants transit fees and cooperate with Russia and get those transit fees paid in rubles only. This will enable Russia to achieve security and monetary sovereignty over the long term. The U$A has been following this reasoning in the semiconductor arena to maintain its dominance, and can’t complain. Russia hasn’t played its cards well.
Why sell to adversaries? Why has Russia been selling gas to nations that are a threat?
You can ask the same question from China. Why do they sell their products to the US? The fact is that int’l relations don’t work as you assume. Russia is working on bringing down the USD hegemony, but it can’t do that overnight. They also have to consider the possibility of a conflict with the US that is looking to incite a war to save itself from collapse.
Man With No Name,
Conjecture. Have you thought or asked why China has been selling to the U$A? How has China reacted towards its challengers? Please share your findings. Are you up to date on China’s plans & conduct?
China has been selling its manufacturing services to the U$A so it can build its capabilities and capacities. It has acquired lots of know-how from the U$A & the West. It has purchased many companies in the West to acquire that know-how particularly in the EU, Switzerland,… The key one word that summarize China’s game is “know-how.” It has enabled China to strengthen its core competencies and gain an edge. The competitive advantage of nations.
“Sharply raising the stakes in a dispute over Japan’s detention of a Chinese fishing trawler captain, the Chinese government has placed a trade embargo on all exports to Japan of a crucial category of minerals used in products like hybrid cars, wind turbines and guided missiles.” Also, China has followed an approach of reciprocity towards the EU. China’s biggest trading partner is ASEAN, followed by the EU and then latter the U$A. So China has successfully maneuvered itself. China has a well balanced balance sheet on the international currencies. Please share such an approach from Russia. How many times has Russia been betrayed in the last century by the U$A? “Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.”
More than half of China’s international trade is in its Renminbi. How about Russia’s international trade? More than half of Russia’s sovereign wealth fund investments are in the Empire’s currencies ($, £, €, ¥). Why? It has been fifteen years since Putin talked of challenging the US$. For the first eight years until 2015 Russia did nothing. It was only after the Ukraine crisis it launched its payment network in 2015. China had launched its payment network in 2002. Why was Russia so late?
Russia could have deposited all the transit fees to Ukraine in an escrow account after 2015 and released the funds as progress was made on the Minsk agreement. It could have made those fees in only rubles. First Putin thought Poroshenko will follow on the Minsk, then Merkel, then Zelensky… but none did. Now that the Minsk agreement is history, Russia has to take a drastic action. Russia should have defended its security interest from early 2000. In 2010, Russians were made aware that the Empire will strike back. Russians thought after Georgia and Hillary’s reset, the U$A will be a partner. In 2013 Russia was caught by surprise in Ukraine. So how were Russians fooled?
China’s key future development themes are:
1. High-quality growth
2. Sci-tech progress
3. Cultural confidence
4. Responsible global player
5. National and economic security
Please share Russia’s development themes. It is still working towards its sovereignty. Will it get security guarantees and sovereignty?
For the first eight years until 2015 Russia did nothing. It was only after the Ukraine crisis it launched its payment network in 2015.
Putin is a man of compromise, an international manager. Something he does because of the pressure from within, something because of the oligarchy and the shareholders who export. Something he can not while the treasury is granted to the anglo-zionists. What happened in Ukraine should not have happened, if they already have learned school from the first Maidan. My guess is that they are sticking to old agendas — separating Germany from the West and merging their know-how with Russian raw materials to be the third player in the world next to the Atlanticists and the Chinese. In order to cross the North Stream two, it was necessary to threaten that the flow through Ukraine was in danger. They did the same in the Middle East. When the currents pass, games can start in Eastern Europe and the Middle East. The German-Austrian-Russian three emperors return. That’s one part of the players-jesuit part. Sreder and George town Kneissl part. It remains to satisfy the Anglo-Zionist one. And this often creates problems as some are dragged to one side, others to the other, and the Russian people are somewhere in between. Collateral damage.
Good points. Your perspective validate my assumptions & hypothesis. Thank you for talking about Russia’s cancer. Until it addresses its cancerous tumor, it will continue to be a sick suzerainty. A sick entity can’t achieve greatness.
Will engage when Russia gets healthy, security guarantees and sovereignty. No time to waste. “In God We Trust”
With an apology, in my previous comment, so that there would be no doubt: I meant the bombing of the Chinese Embassy in Belgrade, which was carried out by the Americans.
Is this the Politicians taking over from the Military which assumed control on 911? I sure hope so.
Promising. Really, I don’t think Macron, Putin, Xi, Biden or the Queen want nuclear war but in the NATO and the Neo-Con military doctrine we need to be hegemons, even given nuclear war. Let us relieve them of this heavy responsibility. Let us put nuclear war behind us forever, and the use of tactical nuclear weapons, and never use them in an act of aggression, even Israel.
It is not a sensible situation for there to be this club of 5 having a nuclear (strike) capacity because those who do not do not have their of nuclear defense capability.
The US, UK and France are completely untrustworthy.
India has had to develop their own because of concerns about China in the past and because they didnt trust the UK.
I don’t know what people always have with Israel. Pakistan and India also have nuclear weapons, and they weren’t there either.
Incidentally, it is also a form of psychopathy, but also to immediately kick every positive signal into the garbage can.
The Russians and Chinese will certainly not support any propaganda event of the West.
Let’s gather the evidence of a conventional ballistic missile in your face or one with a nuclear warhead attached. Pros & Cons. I don’t see much downside for me personally, both will turn me into vapour. However, if the nuclear warhead will melt my bones, thus saving on funeral/crematorium expenses for relations who survive me, then that’s a plus, I guess.
Guillotined or Hung? Electrocuted or Gassed? Assanged or Gaddafied? These are the questions that one day I hope we the downtrodden are offering the war criminals and current crop of lowlives masquerading as public servants.
Bombing a port would do more economic damage than a nuke, a nuke does more political damage than economic.
Take your pick and lose, or choose to do nothing and lose.
A joint statement is something, but it could lead to nothing.
Right… wipping out the ports of let’s say: Antwerp, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Le Havre, Marseille and Hamburg would destroy the EU economically for sometime, without lot of victims. These ports are not even defended or very little.
Warmonger EU MFA Borrell going tuesday to Kiev for three days. He will even go to the Donbass frontline…this mad guy is a psychopath he will only be happy if he manage to start a war in Europe.
All the negative commentary is very sad to read. The reason other nations aren’t included is that this joint statement emanated from the UNSC, nor is it any sort of treaty as some assume, although it does allude to the NPT and the potential violations of same contemplated by the Outlaw US Empire. China touted its ability to get the part about targeting into the statement, which IMO is very helpful given reality.
IMO, the Statement reflects a reassessment of reality by the three NATO UNSC members which was welcomed by Russia and China. Germany’s Scholz has added to that by saying he seeks a new relationship with Russia starting from a blank slate. However, there are many who will remain idiots, like Adam Schiff, in positions of power remaining to be purged.
It also appears that many commentators want the Negotiations between Russia and the Outlaw US Empire to fail, which IMO is inexplicable. Most commentators here are Pro-Russia, and Putin has said very clearly that Russia needs peace to continue its national development. One very important reason for the negotiations is to brighten the future outlook for Russians–young Russians particularly–so they’ll feel more confidant to begin or enlarge their families–or maybe too many didn’t see or hear Putin’s very critical comment made about Russia’s demographics: Russia needs people; it only has a work force of 85 million!
All talk and no accountability from the UNSC. The UNSC has a history of making grandiose statements but don’t hold violators accountable. What happens to the UNSC member who uses a nuclear weapon, including one with a lower threshold? Will they be dismissed from the UNSC? Will a global boycott of that nation happen? What accountability is the UNSC backing up this statement with? Why are UNSC nations then spending money on nuclear weapons? When was the last time the UN SC held its members accountable?
The statement states, “we also affirm that nuclear weapons – for as long as they continue to exist – should serve defensive purposes, deter aggression, and prevent war.” If this is the case then let Iran have nuclear weapons. There is then no need for Non-NPT.
Now that the Russia is standing up for its security, NATO nations want to fool it once again through a charm offensive from Germany, France,… Why aren’t Germany & France the signatories to the Minsk agreement asking Ukraine to implement it immediately. Putin was fooled by Merkel on the Minsk and NS2, now comes the new player. How many times will Russia be fooled and fall for fake baits? What has happened to the Minsk agreement in the last six years? Why? What % of security guarantees asked by Russia will the U$A agree to?
Most here at the Saker blog would like the world to be at peace, so nations can develop and Russia to have security and sovereignty. However, the Empire doesn’t care about Russia’s security and sovereignty. Why has it been expanding NATO eastwards? Why hasn’t the UNSC enforced the Minsk agreement that it approved? The Empire is going after Russia so it can capture Russia, the EU and China. The EU and China are dependent on Russia for their resources. If the Empire gets rid of Putin &/or capture Russia, then by controlling resources in the ME, Africa, LATAM and world, it will dominate the EU, China and world. Is this the way the Empire gains its hegemony and dominance back? Has the Empire given up its dream of a global empire?
Russia can brighten the future for its young Russians by ending usury, promoting its international trade in rubles and investing its sovereign wealth fund in Russia. What is the breakdown of its investments, national & international? Also, the young Russians can show unity by boycotting its adversaries goods. How did Chinese respond to H&M, Nike,…?

There is something fishy and scary. What scares me is, the west is planning to use nuclear weapons against other countries with a tacit approval by China and Russia? The west will never run out of tricks. For a simple reason, the west regards the agreements are just another tricks. For the west to honor agreement with an inferior is an insult. They do consider themselves superior and the rest of the world inferior. In ww1 FM of Britain said to FM of France, do you think Great Britain would honor the agreement with few Bedouins, that would be an insult to GB and to his Majesty. In WW1 to get Russia enter the war, GB promised Turkey to Russia as compensation. But the west never had any planing to do that. They started the Bolshevik revolution before the end of WW1. Russia had to withdraw to deal with the revolution. In WW2 the west used Russia and after Russia defeated Germany, Churchill said we killed the wrong pig. They did the same thing to Gorbachev Russia. They conned Russia in the UN over Lybia.
The west play dirty and nothing is off limit. Only the opponent has to play by the rules with ethics.
What scares me is, the west is planning to use nuclear weapons against other countries with a tacit approval by China and Russia?
Right on spot. Guess which country will use it, at least tactical strikes and against whom? And ask yourself, was a deal made with them so that Russia would be allowed to get a part of the cake in Ukraine? Is Russia a sovereign country or a semi-colony of interests of the Red and Black Internationals?
Yes. So as it reads, the United States is held not to use nuclear weapons against Russia or China.
But what of the Ukraine against Russia?
But what of Australia against China?
What guarantee that that the USA surrogates are not being issued with nuclear weapons this very moment?
I would understand the latter as the fact that RF has a tumor in the gastrointestinal tract called the 5 colons.
The aforesaid is not difficult to identify after all of the above.
this still stands??

New Russian policy allows use of atomic weapons against non-nuclear strike
By Vladimir Isachenkov, The Associated Press
Jun 2, 2020
MOSCOW — President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday endorsed Russia’s nuclear deterrent policy, which allows him to use atomic weapons in response to a conventional strike targeting the nation’s critical government and military infrastructure.
By including a non-nuclear attack as a possible trigger for Russian nuclear retaliation, the document appears to send a warning signal to the U.S. The new expanded wording reflects Russian concerns about the development of prospective weapons that could give Washington the capability to knock out key military assets and government facilities without resorting to atomic weapons.
The Associated Press has published outright lies which are provable, and which any news reader with a good memory would know are lies.
Do you have a reputable source ? Since supposedly Putin and/or the Kremlin said it, any official Russian source would be credible.
Suggezt you check this out
I have to say I was rather surprised by the publication of the Statement by P5. I was ready to dismiss it thinking that it was an initiative of fUKUS; a ploy to disarm (as in mollify) R-C.
But the statement was initiated by RF and that changes the complexion a bit:
“The joint statement of the five nuclear powers – Russia, China, the UK, the US and France – on preventing a nuclear war and avoiding arms races was the initiative of Russia, Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in a statement published on Monday.”
How do we read this development then? I’d say it’s another step by RF in getting fUKUS — whether they mean what they say or not — stating on record that they are against the use of nuclear weapons except for defence ie nuclear weapons are only for deterrence; ie back to the state of affairs during Cold War I which in hindsight looks like a decidedly less dangerous time for the world.
It’s a little late for “preventing” an arms race… it already started alongside a space race and essentially everybody capable is littering our orbit with satellites and space weaponry.
I have nothing more of input as others have said all that needs to be said.
Given that all the major powers have sufficient conventional power to fully obliterate one another, I’m not sure why they are bothering with Nukes in the first place. Nukes are basically a waste of money. And considering most Nukes can be neutered before they get off their launch pads with high-speed missiles, Nukes have become a modern-day Maginot line.
It is the smaller countries, the ones who did not sign the statement, the ones who do not have sufficient conventional power, and thus rely on nuclear weapons as a deterrent, that are creating the problem for the major powers (basically to the Western powers who like to invade small countries having insufficient conventional power.)
Maybe the subject statement is a ruse to lull the smaller countries into casting away their nukes? The major powers would have a better argument if they cast their nukes away first. The major powers would have an even better argument if they quit invading small countries.
Iran provides an interesting defense. It has a large number of hypersonic missiles tipped with conventional warheads aimed at every major town of their number one adversary. They go on to state, “One wrong move, or else!” Exemplary?
I believe it is really the hypersonic missile delivery systems the major powers are really freaked out about.
I find it silly that there’s a joint press release saying that NATO nukes aren’t aimed at each other. Well for obvious reasons they’re aimed at Belarus, China, Iran, North Korea & Russia… it’s asinine to think that USA would aim nukes at say… Germany.
What WAS the real intent of their joint press release but to fearmonger?
A few comments:
China reported today that they were in a large part responsible for the existence of this joint statement. At least there, in most of the major media, this was front-page news.
So, those that question ‘is it even real? yes, it is real. Use a moment of your time and stress your reading ability and you will see that is a statement from the Kremlin.
Please note it is a Statement. It is a statement of values, i.e., people would look right stupid if they break this. It does other things as well, and the statements of first use from certain hegemonic powers now look a little different.
This is the first time in our world that we have something like this. Zakharova said in her style that this rare demonstration of unity shown by the nuclear powers is very important amid the deteriorating international security situation. “We hope that in the current complicated international security environment, the approval of such a political statement by the leaders of the nuclear powers will help to reduce the level of international tension and curb the arms race.” This is major news in the Russian English press.
Yet this is far from being a sure thing and it looks small, but it binds the ‘lying and deceiving kind’ to something. I did not check the western press, but seems to me nobody did a modicum of homework before joining the ‘Tower of Babble’. Somebody should please check the western press and restore my faith in the Saker commentariat :-). Most of the comments seem very knee-jerk to me.
At this stage of tension, every little bit helps.
it is a counteroffensive from the empire. The empire wants to be cunning in the game, and will try everything. You need to have a lot of baggage and life experience to understand the very delicate current situation. Right now the US is arming and training Ukraine. US know how to make a lie policy, they are ingenious to lie. Putin’s New Year’s speech was long. In the end he had serious vocal intonation. Only those who are insightful, and not sophists (good words without content), will be able to understand that we are at a crossroads: 1- political fall of Russia and end of Russian civilization. 2- or kinetic warfare and probably nuclear. I can add one way out: 3- the empire is distracted and implodes quickly without acting with arrogance and violent spasms, allowing Russia and China to be at peace. Option 3 seems to be less likely. Only God knows.
I am not sure on this declaration …. I do not have a good feeling on that ….
To what purpose?
Why without India and Pakistan and Israel?
Why only 7 days upfront the bilateral talks between Russia and the Empire?
Why some days after the telephone talk between Biden and Putin? Why not the same day in a prepared press conference?
Why during a phase where the whole Russian Pacific Submarine fleet left Kamtchatka base – purpose and destination unknown?
Sorry folks – but for me this declaration/statement looks like „Pfeifen im Walde“ (German saying) – a desperate try to impress somebody AND yourself while at the same time you are nearly dying of angst ….
Why mentioned the new German Chancellor today the urgent wish to travel to Moscow for a restart(sic!) of the relations between Germany and Russia still in January – while at the same time neither the German embassy in Moscow nor the Russian embassy in Berlin had any information on this … summit?
Does not sound good for me – to many contradicting and even surprising events / messages in a very short time.
Prepare for the worst. War!
„Niemand hat die Absicht, eine Mauer zu errichten“
„Nobody wants to erect a wall“
(Walter Ulbricht, Head of State of East Germany – 10 days before the erection of the Berlin Wall)
While the intention is admirable, the reality is actions determine outcomes.
Importantly, US-NATO objectives translate to eventual situations of war. These objectives include plans to forcefully integrate Crimea (that voted overwhelmingly to rejoin Russia) into the US-NATO bloc, moves to further develop Taiwan as an offensive platform against China (Taiwan being integrated into US military-missile architecture), planned ‘regime change’ in (and/or partition of) Russia, China, Iran, the DPRK, Belarus, etc…..
Despite efforts by all parties involved to prevent direct kinetic stages of conflict (that would in some cases translate to world war scenarios), uncompromising US-NATO-allied objectives logically translate to eventual situations of war. As such, while the prevention of war remains a priority for Russia and China, it would be prudent for the military commands of two nations to quietly prepare for unwanted but increasingly probable situations of war.
Note: As the US-NATO bloc is pursuing nuclear primacy (efforts to overcome mutually assured destruction through close proximity fast-first strike potential with multi-layered multi-phase missile interception capabilities), it would be respectfully advisable for Russia and China to develop integrated operational plans for certain scenarios and similarly quietly seek the attainment of nuclear primacy (to be adequately prepared for all situations including worst-case scenarios).
A nuclear warfare event, if it were to in time occur, would likely be the product of reaction rather than calculation.
In this context, it is worth noting the globally expanding wars of the US-NATO-allied bloc have progressed to forms of warfare against Russia, China, Iran, the DPRK, Belarus, etc…. An intensifying hybrid warfare domain is moving towards direct kinetic stages of conflict in various regions. All involved parties are preparing for such potential (arguably probable) situations. Importantly, US-NATO-allied bloc objectives translate to eventual situations of direct military conflict. As escalation is a feature of war and missile warfare will be a key component of any military conflict (with minimal time from detection to response and radar data unable to determine if incoming missiles are conventional or nuclear requiring worst-case assumptions), the potential for a resultant nuclear warfare event should be self-evident.
Recognising the implications of the globally expanding wars of the US-NATO-allied bloc, I would respectfully suggest a world war has been active and gradually developing for some time [a concept supported by statements such as in Reference 1], recognition of this being obscured by the sequential format and forms of warfare involved (global military expansionism under the guise of anti-terrorism operations, successive ‘regime change’ operations/engineered colour revolutions, economic warfare [‘sanctions’], commercial and political isolation operations, etc.).
It would be prudent to monitor developments closely. If direct kinetic stages of conflict between the US-NATO-allied bloc and Russia and/or China occurs (with other regional conflicts developing concurrently), this event is increasingly likely to subsequently occur (not immediately but in response to a significant escalation as is a feature of war). Although I hope I am wrong, I am comfortable and confident I am not. While prevention of war remains a priority, I respectfully suggest the attainment of nuclear primacy by China and Russia should be a priority.
Note: If a nuclear warfare event were in time to occur, it does not translate to human extinction. It would however eclipse previous world wars. Those prepared for such scenarios will be better placed than those unprepared.
1. – Speaking to a group of college students on 2 April, 2003, former CIA Director Woolsey revealed, “…the United States is engaged in World War IV, and that it could continue for years.” Woolsey described the Cold War as the third world war. He then said “This fourth world war, I think, will last considerably longer than either World Wars I or II did for us. Hopefully not the full four-plus decades of the Cold War.” (Wikipedia: R. James Woolsey, Jr.)
The overwhelming majority of US senators in Jan will support Ted Cruz’s bill on sanctions against NS2, restrictions will be imposed on organizations responsible for the design, construction &operation of the pipeline.
Germany(->EU) should not compete with the country’s occupiers
Ukraine closed off part of the Black Sea near Odessa for military exercises.
US Air Force reconnaissance Boeing E-8C approached Russian-Ukrainian border earlier.
So, Ukraine &NATO exercising near Russian border- its OK.
Russia, within its borders,-its an “aggression” against Ukraine?
Ukrainian naval exercises in the Black Sea are not the sort of reply the Russians were looking for in response to their draft treaties. Ukraine has 9 exercises with NATO scheduled for 2022 (is this one of them?)
https://www.perild.com/2021/11/29/ukraine-to-conduct-nine-exercises-with-nato-in-2022/. (Ukrainian website)
In 2022, Ukraine will host nine exercises with the participation of units of the armed forces of other states. Bill No. 6359 published on website Verkhovna Rada.
According to the document, the costs associated with the preparation and conduct of multinational exercises in Ukraine and abroad in 2022 will amount to UAH 106.5 million (of which UAH 52 million in Ukraine).
So, exercises are planned:
Joint Efforts 2022 multinational exercise. Duration: up to 45 days, February-December 2022.
Ukrainian-American exercises Rapid Trident-2022. Period: up to 45 days, March – December 2022.
Ukrainian-British exercise Kozak Mays-2022. Duration: up to 45 days, March – December 2022.
Multinational exercise Light Avalanche-2022. Duration: up to 45 days, February-December 2022.
Ukrainian-Polish exercises Silver Saber-2022. Duration: up to 90 days: 1st stage – up to 30 days, February – April, 2nd stage – up to 30 days May – July, 3rd stage – up to 30 days August – December
Sea Breeze 2022 Ukrainian-American exercise. Duration: up to 45 days, March – December 2022.
Ukrainian-Romanian exercises Riverine-2022. Duration: up to 45 days, March – December 2022.
Maple Arch multinational exercise 2022. Duration: up to 45 days, March – December 2022.
Viking 2022 multinational exercise. Duration: up to 45 days, February-December 2022.
Is the deal the FIRST step? The big 5 (P-5) agree on a nuclear MONOPOLY (restricted to them only). they don’t use them and they wouldn’t allow other people to use them either. It is in its own interest to prohibit its use. When the big 5 is at an impasse, the next thing to do is define its zones of influence. The US is BLOCKING its gains while it’s still ahead (although it’s showing signs of aging). Mike Pompeo’s definition was short and clear: – “We lie, we cheat, we steal”.
Biden wept and agreed to everything Putin ordered him in the last phone call. This statement is the result. The US nuclear arsenal is very old and outdated. Meanwhile, the Russian Federation has spent more than 20 years upgrading its missile technologies to the point where it is now no longer possible for the West to catch up. So which side has more to worry about, do you think?
It is because this kind of statement that I believe large-scale war, probably nuclear, is increasingly unavoidable.
Let’s look closer:
* Rivals getting armed to the teeth, but still openly talking about peace. Is it because they have already decided by war?
* Where are Pakistan, India, Israel and the People’s Republic of Korea?
* Since when do peace treaties prevent anything ? Mainly considering at least one of the parties (US) has historic of not honoring agreements.
* Who of the signatories will drop its weapon systems first?
This statement seems a hoax to me. It is that simple. It’s like a code for “run away and look for shelter”. So many times we did see such plot…
Hmm…the Joint statement of five nuclear powers’ leaders was initiated by Russia! There may be important implications consequent from the P5 statement for the RF-US talks next week. Unfortunate that many commentators here have gone into knee-jerk mode and missed it.
This is probably how RF MFA looks at the situation:
Said the straight man to the late man
“Where have you been?”
I’ve been here and I’ve been there
And I’ve been in between
I talk to the wind
My words are all carried away
I talk to the wind
The wind does not hear
The wind cannot hear
I’m on the outside looking inside
What do I see
Much confusion, disillusion
All around me
Is this not a clear sign the USSA is now greatly weakened? It can no longer dominate. The USSA is the only country to inflict a nuclear holocaust upon a civilian population, without remorse. The USSA is the only country, since 1945, to invade others and murder untold millions, without remorse; 500k Iraqi children was ‘worth it’. The USSA has reneged on every agreement and declaration it ever made, without remorse. Who you gonna trust? This is but a USSA ruse. If China and Russia stand strong, the world may be saved from the criminal USSA.
So the US is cancelling the nuclear sub (with nuclear missiles) deal with Australia. Must be relief for Australian tax payers
To complete your comment, it comes to my mind a film produced by Howard Hughes near or at the sites where these tests were carried on, some or many of the actors got sick because of the radiation and died soon or some time efter the film.
Anyone who trusts any document signed by the United States Military Empire is a fool. There are no exceptions.
Any document not backed up with hard, verifiable action is useless. There are no exceptions.
One must remember how Hitler tricked Stalin with his “agreements”, only to have Operation Barbarossa cut deep into the Soviet Heartland.
I expect the following to occur first, before I would consider the signature on document to have any value…
A complete end of any efforts, discussion or funding of NATO expansion Eastward towards Russia. This needs to be verifiable.
A removal of all American nuclear weapons out of Europe. This needs to be verifiable.
Movement of all United States nuclear armed delivery systems out of Europe, and the Mediterranean Sea. This needs to be verifiable.
For China, I would add…
The end of construction of all nuclear servicing, storage and launch facilities in Australia, Korea, and Japan by the United States Military Empire. This needs to be verifiable.
All in all, I find this a positive POTENTIAL result of the brave and important message “telegraphed” to the White House by President Putin. However, it is not the time to rejoice. I strongly suspect that this is just the start of what the United States considers to be a wide-open “field of useless discussion” and media posturing. I expect more great words, and more great promises but absolutely zero hard verifiable and tangible changes.
And, concerning trolling and deflection tactics on this article and in this community. On my blog we perma-ban such trolls. This important subject should not be derailed by nonsense.
Missisipi Senator Roger Whittaker’s statement on national television about using tactical nuclear weapons against Russia prove what an utter lie the U.S.’s statement is. NO one should ever believe one word that the U.S. authorities say or sign. As the world has learned they are utterly incapable of anything honest or ethical.
Significantly, this ground-breaking statement was completely ignored by both the NYTimes and the WaPo.
But not the White House: https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/statements-releases/2022/01/03/p5-statement-on-preventing-nuclear-war-and-avoiding-arms-races/
It must be remembered that Trump’s biggest sin against the Deep State was talking with Putin, in order to possibly organize a detente. Trump also was unable to bring the troops home from Afghanistan (“bounties on US soldiers”, ox-walking the withdrawal).
Biden, however, has stuck his thumb in the eye of the Deep State with forcing the Afghanistan withdrawal, thereby denying billions in off-the-books cash flow to the CIA. It is vaguely possible that Biden is actually acting in the interests of America, and could negotiate a peace with Russia.
However, to accomplish this, Biden must position against the Senate, and the Deep State, in order to create a situation where a treaty is inevitable (instead of immediately revoked, see Sen. Cotton et al. vs. the JPOAC). This is where the actual, big fight lies. And both Putin and putatively Biden would understand this.
So this is definitely a first move by Russia, and possibly a supporting move by team Biden, to position the narrative. This gives potential for hope.
As a related note, today Argentine newspapers informed that a release of classified documents from the UK (published by The Guadian) confirmed the load of nuclear weapons on UK ships on the South Atlantic war of 1982. Ths deployment of such weapons is strictly forbiden by the Tlatelolco Treaty of nuclear proliferation, even for the 5 official powers since the Souht Atlantic was intended as a non-nuclear zone
It is clear that using nuclear weapons against Argentina had the sole purpose of reversing a potential conventional war defeat, since this country did not have such weapons to severely hurt the UK. Thus, how seriously could be taken such a commitment of powers?
I can imagine that the statement that non of our weapons is targetted that other nuclear powers as not being worth the paper it is written on. Surely the database of target sets uploads to a missile in less than a second a few minutes or less before it is launched. the whole declaration is just PR as operationally it must be meaningless (because the US signed it).
“We reiterate the validity of our previous statements on de-targeting, reaffirming that none of our nuclear weapons are targeted at each other or at any other State.”
If anybody here believes this statement in general, I have some Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMDs) in Iraq that I would love to sell you. They are on sale–Buy One, Get One Free!
The American Pentagon, CIA, White House, State Department, US Congress, and corporate media can all vouch for the authenticity of these WMDs.
Any treaty, agreement, paper, contract signed by NATO/US/UK/EU/Israel/Erdogan has zero, I repeat ZERO value.
Another colour rev today in Almaty with Nexta telegram (Poland services), MI6, CIA, USAID and co..
No need to lose time next week in unecessary meetings, only force must prevail.Or at least a very credible threath to use it imminently with full power.
You are right, many ominous signs are swirling round the info-sphere. All of these manoeuvres are worthless because it would beyond naive to expect the US to abide by Russian treaty when all it was doing under Drumpf was getting rid of all possible nuclear and other missile treaties. This was convened by Russia in order to create some form of a baseline from which further negotiations can proceed.
Unfortunately, this will be read as another sign of Russia’s weakness and the endorsement of the declaration by the Western powers just another poker chip to be used in making demands. I don’t think it is the US any more. The EU Reich has been increasingly acting as a nominally independent political body with its agendas, anti-Russian strategies and moves.
Some days ago, I bet that Russia would not do anything to hurt its partnyors even if they – as they are – ignored its plea for security guarantees. I gave a deadline of 30th January. In order to accommodate the Beijing Olympics, I am moving the deadline to the end of February. If before then Russia does anything that can be construed even most loosely as inimical to the interests of the West, I shall stop commenting. If on the other hand it does nothing, I might return and discuss openly and respectfully the problems that Russia needs to address if it is to parry this unprecedented offensive.
I wonder if any commenters have listened to VP speaking at the annual Valdai conferences, or his annual address to the nation, which can be lengthy. I’m not talking about a ten minute presser, or a fifteen minutes scripted state of the nation address as in the U.S. I’m talking about deep analysis and profound respect for constituency while answering unscripted questions off the cuff as per VP. Well, I have, and got the measure of the man as a result. I rate VP as a statesman and diplomat of the highest caliber, an intellectual, a chess player of top quality and therefore grand strategist, as well as being ethical and morally courageous. Because VP possesses these qualities I have faith that he will do the right thing. I could not say any of those things about any other world leader at this juncture, there is no comparison.
