Do you remember the panic which spread recently among Russian non-government organizations when Putin passed a new law forcing any NGO which is financed from abroad to register as a “foreign agent”?
Russian bloggers have now compiled an initial list of these organizations. Again, this is not an official list, only one compiled by savvy Russian bloggers who will now submit this list to the Russian security agencies. Still, the list is very interesting, and I invite you to carefully parse it to get a feel for the scope of the US infiltration of the Russian society (since the list is long, I used google-translate to translate the names of the organizations).

That is a rellay interesting list. The great majority of the organizations seem to be small and unknown outside of Russia, while others (like Helsinki Group, Golos, Carnegie Center, the Sakharov and Gorbachov foundations, and Bellona) were already known to be financed from abroad. For me the greatest surprise was that the Mother’s Soldiers and Levada Center.
Matt Rodina posted the list of NED funded NGO’s back in January of 2010 on his blog after I posted a link to the NED website Russian NGO 2008 funding page on a previous article.

I tried to go to Soros and Open Society websites to see if they list the NGO’s they fund but I did not see them on there website.
Good to see the Russian’s really waking up to the scope of the problem.
The Levada center is a real surprise to me as well – I’m always running into stuff from Russophobes that accuse it of being a Putin mouthpiece when they release reports they don’t like.
Most likely this is just funding various studies from Levada, who have a strong independant reputation, but they might also be looking to buy some influence.
Hadn’t heard of the the MacArthur foundation, but looking at the background & funders of the rest of these groups they turn out to be mostly from either the corporate world – the military-industrial complex, the big-banking sector, or the giant energy conglomerates ; or from the US thinktanks/lobbying sector.
