So what is it that Putin has done that doesn’t satisfy you, comrade communists?
Recently our resident (users of the “Cont” website) “communists” who are furiously criticising Putin again became more active. For what? Well, for anything, Putin doesn’t please our red-bellied guys, and that’s all.
Perhaps it is necessary for these faultfinders to see Putin furiously shaking his fists and threatening the whole world with an “atomic bludgeon”; to see in Putin the “double of comrade Kim”, threatening the US with his missiles? Or the “double of Trump”, who doesn’t shun to launch missiles at a sovereign and independent country?
Putin is not as they want to see him.
I would like to draw the attention of these people to the following circumstances. Let’s briefly run along Putin’s biography.
The political career of Putin started in 1990. Still being an employee of KGB, he was appointed to the position of the adviser to the chairman of the St. Petersburg city council.
Putin is often reproached for “carrying Anatoly Sobchak’s bag”. But in reality it was a developed and brilliantly performed KGB operation that aimed to introduce Putin into the security structures of Russia. It’s not known if Putin took part in the development of this operation himself. And it’s unlikely that we will learn about it one day.
Further there is the “Moscow period” of Putin’s career. The year of 1996. Pay special attention to this date.
After Putin’s move to Moscow in 1996, he was appointed as the deputy head of department of the Russian President. This position is much higher than all his previous positions. And just two years later he became the head of Federal Security Service.
In 1998 Putin is already the “head of the FSB”! A meteoric career, don’t you think?
Already at that time Putin obtained the rank of an incorruptible and experienced head with a great influence.
In 1999 “certain comrades”, perhaps also led by Putin, made an offer to Yeltsin that the lover of power couldn’t refuse. Yeltsin had to delegate power to Putin in exchange for lifelong guarantees. During this same year Yeltsin appointed Putin to the position of the Russian Prime Minister.
The year 2000, Putin becomes the President of Russia.
In only four years, Putin, from an unknown “colonel of the KGB”, reached the top of power. He became president and Supreme Commander. He stood at a wheel of the country, which was nearly breaking up into “appanage principalities”. He stood and prevented the disintegration of Russia quickly and ruthlessly. The regional elites were tamed or jailed “for corruption”.
Back then something similar to what is depicted on this map was prepared for us.
But, Putin came………
And our Motherland, our Russia, was saved from disintegration and collapse.
Now about the “indecision and sluggishness of Putin” that he is criticized for by both the “right”, and the “left”! By both communists and liberals. I ask to consider one thing: Putin is always guided by expedience and what is beneficial for Russia. Always. And takes the necessary actions at the precisely calculated time, with precisely calculated effort.
Let’s remember, in 90’s the so-called ” Semibankirshchina” – the seven richest and influential people in Russia – ruled Russia. They ruled and impudently plundered Russia. They literally “kicked open the door of the president’s office”, they were the real rulers of Russia. Everything was in their power.
Putin considered it expedient to destroy “semibankirshchina”. It was destroyed, quickly, effectively, and ruthlessly. Where now are these people who at the time were the most powerful in Russia? Their fate was sad, some have already passed on, and some are still alive and have been deprived of all their assets and billions, leading a miserable existence. Some were left a little bit of money “for life”, as an example for others.
Khodorkovsky – the person who imagined himself almost as a god; the person who wanted to rule Putin; the person who decided that he is allowed to hand over Russia to the West! Putin decided that it would be expedient to boot Khodorkovsky. Khodorkovsky was jailed – qualitatively and for a long time. His billions and assets were nationalised.
Putin is a pragmatist, and in some measure a ruthless person obsessed with one idea. This idea is Russia! Everything that goes for the good, and for the benefit of Russia, should be done. And it is being done!
Thus practically all mineral deposits, oil, and gas handed over to the West in the 90’s by this same “semibankirshchina” were returned in Russian jurisdiction.
From the 260 Production Sharing Agreements concluded in the 90’s, in accordance with which the US and other countries of the West got bagels, Putin quietly and noiselessly, without waving red flags, without menacingly shaking fists, without shouting out trenchant slogans, cancelled 258 of them, and for the two that remained the conditions were revised in favour of Russia. Now the “bagels”, sorry, money, goes to the budget of Russia, and the US, and those like them, receive the holes from the bagels.
This, of course, can’t please either the US or the other countries of the West. And of course, they don’t like Putin very much. And in exactly same way, Putin is not liked either by our communists or our liberals. A strange and interesting coincidence of interests.
Now a little about the “indecisiveness and cowardice of Putin” in terms of foreign policy.
I will not speak in a circumlocutory manner, I will just mention his “Munich speech” in 2007, in which Putin, on behalf of Russia, imperiously declared Russia’s claims for “a piece of the world pie”.
In 2014 Putin decided that it would be reasonable and useful for Russia to attach Crimea. The operation was performed resolutely, accurately, and without glancing back at the “world’s opinion”! Do you think Putin did not count all the consequences of this step? You simply do not know Putin. Putin calculates all of his moves way in front. Like the grand master – nine moves ahead.
I am often told that in 2014 Putin could have easily taken all of Ukraine for himself too. He could have – back then in the military sphere the UAF was simply not able to show at lease some resistance to the army of Russia. In 2015 Putin considered it expedient to destroy ISIS on the territory of Syria, and ISIS was thus destroyed.
Putin considered it expedient and useful for Russia to support the president of Venezuela, and Guaido’s putsch failed, and the US silently sulked.
We know little, only what is shown to us by our and foreign media, which also doesn’t know any more than we do. And so we, with our “knowledge” scraped from the media, undertake to criticise Putin, who possesses considerably more knowledge than we do, saying that he “was mistaken”, that he “did not venture”, that he “was afraid”, and so on.
In our faultfinding we resemble these “internet experts”, I only ask that offense isn’t taken if someone recognizes himself or herself in this description.
As I already said, Putin is pragmatic and ruthless. Putin was criticised also for the fact that he didn’t give the order to the Russian Air Force in Syria to down the missiles of the western coalition and to destroy the carriers of these missiles. You simply do not know Putin – if he did not give the order, then it means that he considers it to still be inexpedient.
If this step will be expedient, if Putin will consider it to be useful for Russia, then he will give this order without hesitation, with his quiet and inexpressive voice. If Putin will consider the destruction of all NATO countries, with the US at the head, to be expedient and useful for Russia, then he will give such an order – the NATO countries will disappear.
If Putin will consider liquidating the “fifth column” in Russia, as well as all liberal and communist movements, to be useful and reasonable, then it will be done – quickly, accurately, and ruthlessly.
So who you are, “comrade Putin”? And who sent you to Russia, literally at the “last moment”? When it already seemed that Russia died and disappears from the world map! So who you are, the saviour of Russia? Will we have answers one day?
Who knows? Perhaps in 20 years it will be declassified.
We comunists hope nothing bad to comrade Putin it is only excessively worry
Sim.Putin é mestre em jogar o jogo!!!
Yes.Putin is master in playing the game !!!
First I want to thank Saker for informing us so well, just a pity that I have met you a short time ago. I am Brazilian and it would be a dream to have a president who had a nationalist vision and who loved our country, I am sincerely jealous of Russia for having a president really worried about his people, meanwhile we are being ruled by a delivery man who is destroying my country, That’s why I tell the Russian communists to thank you for having a Putin in your country, but if you want we accept the exchange but then we won’t return it. Hugs.
Eh, most of us commies (“tankies”) were at least hoping the Anatoliy Golitsyn tall tales about a massive plan to resurrect a stronger USSR were secretly true, and Putin was the catalyst. We support Putin and Russia for anti-imperialist reasons much like we support Assad. Although I do have to say in Golitsyn’s silly book New Lies for Old, “Eurasianism” was seen as a strategy to dupe the West. IDK, it’s fun to dream, no?
Indeed, my biggest criticism of Putin is that he hasn’t restored the USSR and buried the degenerate west. But hey, I’m not omniscient and maybe Putin and his successors are not done yet. I wish success to our comrades Russia.
Putin is a secular Priest which is a very rare and very difficult role to play on the planet. Napoleon was also
A Priest role in Different times and for different challenges .
Putin dedicated himself to service and he was conceived from two people in love whose life of suffering and sacrifice for each other and Russia drew a high soul to them for nurture and sustenance
He was their blessing left to Rus.
He is not perfect but he knows what he is and what is required of him.
How many of us can say the same of ourselves, truly and humbly?
Putin is a multi generation Russian Patriot whose parents were blessed to give to the world. We keep him in our prayers. He is what the United States needs. Unfortunately ….Americans have become soft and stupid as a result of credit created currency brought to us by the so called ” Chosen People ” who have been a scourge to humanity for close to two thousand years.
It is funny how the Mainstream Media of the West has almost given up on its claims that Putin has “billions” stashed away abroad. :)
They haven’t found anything and they never will. He is unblackmailable. And they are “agreement-incapable”
”It is funny how the Mainstream Media of the West has almost given up on its claims that Putin has ’billions’ stashed away abroad.”
Even funnier, they might have come to actually understand what a silly ’accusation’ they were peddling, even if the garbage were true: ”Hey, Putin is smart, strong, and rich. What’s wrong with him stashing away his dough as he sees fit?”
oh please. whata fawning article, almost reminiscent of what the Trumptards say about Trump. Trup is the best, he is the smarter, the most billionaire, the richest, the at of the deal guy. baloney
A few truths a few half truths, a few fantasies, a few lies.
lets talk about Ukraine,e one of Putin’s biggest mistakes to date.
Putin certainly could have taken over Ukraine Militarily, but back then he , but he was still hoping to make business with the West so he didn’t want to ruin it. Thats why he didn’t take over Ukraine. And trust me he and Russia will cry bloody tears over Ukraine.Ukraine will eventually be taken over by NATO and NATO Will place weapons there. Ukraine is forever lost cuz Putin hesitated. Fantasies are not truth. Putin took Crimea when he saw Ukraine was lost and USA was getting ready to kick Russia out of Sevastopol.
Only in the last year or so Putin and Russia FINALLY REALIZED Trump/The West doesn’t really want to be friends with them and has been stringing them all along. It was a bitter pill to swallow, thats why Putin FINALLY decided to act in Syria too. Too late once again.
Lame anti-Putin bot drivel, re-warmed and spilled here.
Ignorance becomes you.
We’ve been down this silly path of droppings so many times.
More than enough said. Go elsewhere.
your post doesn’t consider a more thorough way of thinking.
Why should president Putin have taken Ukraine ? A country extremely corrupt and without a commercial significance ? Just to put money and infrastructure into it ??
Whereas his main point is to bring Russia into the 21st century with a more technical (inclusive military) and commercial standing within the first 10 countries on our earth ?
President Putin doesn’t take decisions without thorough calculation of each side of the coin. Moreover he wouldn’t waste any money of Russian taxpayers (for example as is doing the USA !!). For sure he loves his country very very much.
The future of NATO is disintegration, Turkey is showing the path. Because to be honest how many NATO countries would go to war against Russia following US orders? Possibly only the rabid russophobic East european (Poland, Baltics, Romania) and the UK lapdogs thats all.
Agreed. I would certainly be interested in predicted dates for NATO and EU dissolution. I’d put EU about 2023-24, with NATO following.
The East European Russophobes hate one another more than they hate Russia. In Ukronazia it is illegal to mention the genocide of Poles carried out in Galicia in 1943-4, while the Ukronazi fascists CELEBRATE it every year. And in Wojtylastan, it is illegal to deny it. The Poles are on the verge of civil strife between the fascists allied to the Church (it keeps the unfolding clerical child abuse revelations off the front page)and the pro-Western social liberals, too.
Why not follow the Guaidó template and declare yourself President of Russia? Even if it didn’t work out for Guaidó, you should at least give it a try.
So in your expert opinion, you think it was just last year Putin and Co. Decided the West wasn’t going to allies? Not even when the west was looting Russia? Not after the Yeltsin era? Not after the expansion of NATO? Not after the treaties torn up since the days of Bush? Not after the invasion and destruction of Libya which is Russia’s ally? Not after seeing the warheads placed in Europe? Not after the numerous sanctions?
Go watch some of your Hollywood movies, order Pizza, get drunk shouting USA then sleep
The article ends with, So who you are, “comrade Putin”? And who sent you to Russia, literally at the “last moment”? When it already seemed that Russia died and disappears from the world map! So who you are, the saviour of Russia? Will we have answers one day?
I choose to ignore the rhetorical aspect. Most likely, the intelligence service concluded that the USSR would not survive and quietly picked a small number of future leaders, and Mr. VVP was the finalist.
It would appear that their intelligence service (I’m an American) is more intelligent than our intelligence services. One wonders how long the selection and grooming process had been in play. They get VVP and we get GWB.
Just ‘mania’ 2c –
Those few paperclips sure prove to be extremely expensive!!!
I sometimes wonder if VVP switch geography w the other, would USSA turn out better?
Does the man make the country or the country make the man?!
If you are religious, you might believe that Mr Putin was sent by God or one of his angels to ensure the survival of Holy Russia.
He does rather give that impression – far more like an intellectual monk than any other politician. He doesn’t indulge in asceticism, but he does not seem attached to any worldly pleasures.
The world needs a lot more people like Mr Putin.
For a start, I’d like to order one as UK PM instead of the unbelievable Boris Johnson.
Always wondered how Putin came to power. I had read he was the front man for the Siloviki- high-ranking Russian military & intelligence class patriots to the nation and security of Russia.
They chose well.
The Western oligarchy Deep State’s plan to dismember Russia and gobble up its resources for devalued kopecks was well underway. The map is eerily reminiscent of Zbigniew Brzenszki (spelling? but you know who)’s ‘Grand Chessboard’ book. It is available free on internet- blithely describes West destroying Russia to dominate broken smaller statelets.
Just like plans of the Empire for MENA.
If the Mod doesn’t mind, I’d like to reprint something more metaphysical from the adjacent Saker thread ‘Which Putin’ which has a religious theme and concern about why is Putin seemingly friendlier to Israel than any previous Russian leader. A long and interesting read, especially about the origins of US pro-Israel Christian Fundamentalism.
This is what I posted there:
In-depth scholarly piece thank you.
But all this religious affiliations makes me despair- if it wasn’t for my faith in an omniscient omniloving Creator.
Yeshua the carpenter from his Nazareth was clearly in direct communion with our Creator – filled with the Holy Spirit one could say. Fully human/fully divine as Orthodox and Catholic theology have it.
Why, because in his deeds and words he showed we are all chosen, we are all special, no-one more than anyone else.
But all have the gift of free will and can choose selfish paths or believe what they wish, or out of inner existential fear ascribe narcissistic chosen special status to themselves and their religion, projecting human jealousies onto the One Infinite Creator – because they really haven’t understood Christ’s message that we are all loved equally.
Having become intrigued by Putin over the years and watched and listened to him a lot, I think he perhaps as a practising Orthodox Christian or perhaps despite it – gets Christ’s message.
Hence he is friendly to Assad and Netanyahu but in a way that supports their nations’ basic rights and needs to survive.
But Russia is not omnipotent, far from it, and Putin can only do what is humanly possible. Preventing WW-III seems to be Putin’s number one goal, hence his constant refrain- respect for each country’s national interests.
Thank God for someone like Putin.
The anti imperialist communists here in Sweden verry much avoid criticising Putin, on the contrary they defend his actions regarding Ukraine and Syria. It’s our trotskyists, and the more liberal political left that can’t stand Putin. They always come to the same conclusions regarding international politics as Washington.
Stefan, the Trots I suspect are infiltrated groups. Some of them are front groups for western interests. They split the communists. They’re always seemingly pro imperialist.
True, the Trots used to be heavily infiltrated by all sorts of reactionary provocateurs. Nowadays, rather than infiltrated, they are just plain infantile, LOL. Spouting the same worthless drivel for generations without adding a single independent thought of their own. And, yes, forever siding with Western imperialism against ”backward” peoples in the Third World.
The neo-conservatives in the USA, as well as being almost all card-carrying Zionazis, are mostly former Trotskyites, as well.
I just will quote this phrase:
“And so we, with our “knowledge” scraped from the media, undertake to criticise Putin, who possesses considerably more knowledge than we do, saying that he “was mistaken”, that he “did not venture”, that he “was afraid”, and so on.”
It´s TRUE, folks.
I´d realized a long time ago.
Many thanks for this article.
“Everything that goes for the good, and for the benefit of Russia, should be done. And it is being done!”
Noam Chomsky’s definitions:
“Democracy” is when a national government ceases to do anything for its own national interests, or the interests of its people, and becomes a wholly-owned subsidiary of the USA.
“Communism” is when a national government ignores Washington’s commands and acts in the interests of its own nation and people.
Clearly, then, Mr Putin himself IS a communist! 8-)
Thanks for those Chomsky’s quotes. I’ll throw them at the Yanks who by and large believe their government is Leftist, Socialist or Communist!!! A swamp of unimaginable imbecility.
It was not Vladimir Putin who ruled the USSR when it collapsed to the West, though he was part of the system. It is inconceivable that his vision for Russia could have been anything other than reversing the country’s experiences in the 1990s, when that vital security interest – the buffer zone – had been taken away, the one that Stalin was so relieved to have gained after victory in the Great Patriotic War. Putin has moved cautiously, and does not seem to desire war with NATO. Neither side wants to go to war: but either side will, if faced with existential threat; that’ the fall-back position of Deterrence doctrine. President Putin will ‘consider the destruction of all NATO countries’ should the circumstances be created. The circumstances that led to the first two world wars must not be repeated, yet events suggest they are.
I’m sure that Putin simply realises that war between Russia and the crumbling West would end human civilization, and probably the species as well. Unlike the psychopaths that ‘liberal democracy’ produces, Putin is rational and humane.
When you identify yourself as Communist or whatever, you identify yourself as NOT Russian. Or whatever.
The kaleidoscopical map included looks like it had been — originally — been put together during a Western acid trip, which probably isn’t too far-fetched an idea. Sakhalin ceded to Japan and the land right to the West of it ceded to China — yeah, right.
Stalin and Putin, the former a communist and the latter a Russian patriot, are the two most formidable leaders to have ruled the USSR and Russia. Fearless, determined, and intelligent as they take on the rotting West. The attitudes of the Russian liberals are no mystery whatsoever — they have been backing the wrong horse based upon their greed, corruption, and total loathing of Russia; state and people alike. The Russian (anti-Putin) communists are more difficult to make sense of. Unlike the West’s proud ’anti-authoritarians’, Trots and anarchists in particular, the traction within Russia’s political milieu of infantile disorders such as Trotskyism and Anarchism is minuscule. So the question to be answered here is what their problems with Putin are all about.
“I am often told that in 2014 Putin could have easily taken all of Ukraine for himself too. He could have – back then in the military sphere the UAF was simply not able to show at lease some resistance to the army of Russia.”
That argument – going to full war against Ukraine – has been the most predictable strawman to show the pervasive idiocy of the critics of Putinism (the belief system according to which everything the man does turns to gold) except that supposed argument has never been seriously considered, only sputtered by misinformed or ill-minded hotheads.
What was suggested by many people back then (here too at The Saker) was to apply the same geopolitical principle applied to Crimea and Ossetia. Everyone to a man and his dog (except NATOland politicians approved of and lauded the Crimean intervention; why got to the Donbass?
It could easily have been done, as the author stated, and would have saved many thousand of Russian lives in addition to telling the US and puppets that Russia meant business when her national interests were on the line.
Had Putin done so, the Eastern part of Ukraine would return to its Russian origin as a Russian protectorate as Ossetia, or as a UN mandate with borders policed by the UN blue-helmets. Putin had a chance to legally and morally justify the intervention as peace-keeping and then force the UN to apply its own rules to keep the warring parts aside as done in many places. If the UN NATO allies vetoed the resolution, Putin would be justified to use the Ossetia precedent and avoid the ATO. Eventually the Crimean example – with the involvement of the UN for legitimacy – supported by a referendum would enable Putin to reunite the Donbass with Russia. If necessary, the Kosovo precedent could be used to shut up the sanctimonious West. Fait accompli!
Apologies for the typos and lollies for the detectors.
The story follows my own view. I may not myself be a communist, but I have always been in the “zone red”. Putin is not my president, but it is obvious he’s as said above… One of religious bent might even see him as a Great Man in the History – one of the agents of God…or whatever.
Isn’t what’s described precisely what KGB was for?
I thought it was obvious years ago.
Of course what’s not said is itself very interesting – not said? Yes, how KGB snookered CIA and ultraconz and presumably the zionistnazis – snookered them into believing that Comrade Putin would be theirs.
They believed in the “ringer”, in an imaginary Putin they’d own… (El Commandante Fidel did something similar)
Instead they got a real live “Soviet Man” – a product of the Soviet Processes, miraculously conceived in the furnaces of the Great Patriotic War…one could spin out a mythology…and that probably will happen, in Time.
(yeah same guy, & howdy)
