I am posting today the speech of Colonel-General Igor Sergun, Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GRU) of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Russia. To say that his man, or the GRU is secretive would be an understatement. Almost all the information publicly available about Sergun is in the short biography (researched by Scott) which I have placed at the end of this post. As a general rule, the GRU never makes a public statement, nor does the person heading it. It is thus interesting that on one of the very few occasions were General Sergun agreed to speak in public, he chose to focus on the risks of the so-called “Islamic” extremism and that in a relatively short presentation, he made four reference to the fact that these “Islamic” terrorists are basically a creature of the West. One might be tempted to say “nothing new here, we all know that” – but that would be missing the point. The point is that the head of Russian military intelligence is openly declaring that the so-called “Islamic terrorism” is not an original or indigenous phenomenon, but an instrument in the toolset of western imperialism which is used to subvert the countries which dare oppose the worldwide hegemony of the AngloZionist Empire.

THESES OF THE PRESENTATION
of the Head of the Main Directorate of the General Staff
at the IV Moscow Conference
on International Security
devoted to: “Global Security: Radical Transformation
or Creation of New Rules for the Game?”
(April 16, 2015 г.)
“Hot Points” of the Global Fight with Terrorism “
Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
One of the most dangerous challenges of the current times is presented by the international terrorism, which is rapidly acquiring a political nature and is being turned into a real force, striving to come to power in certain countries.
We are witnessing a steady trend towards globalization of activities of extremist organizations. This includes a wide geographic spread, strengthening of the interaction between previously disparate groups, as well as swift adaptation to situational changes.
Among international terrorist organizations, the role of radical Islamists is increasing. Their leaders are developing collaboration and seek to create zones of instability, which include not only countries but entire regions.
The “Terrorist International” under creation aims at restoration through military force the “Great Caliphate” within the borders encompassing the Middle East, the Caucasus, Northern Africa and Iberian Peninsula. A campaign for formation of the united front of the “Global Jihad” was announced, with the aim of conducting armed struggle against the “main enemies of Islam”, represented by the USA, Western European countries, Russia and Muslim countries with the secular governments.
Currently, terrorism presents the greatest threat for Iraq, Syria, Libya and Afghanistan, where ” Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant “, ” Al-Qaeda “, ” Jabhat al-Nusra “, Islamic Taliban Movement and other radical groups are active,
Al-Qaeda’ remains one of the most powerful terrorist organizations, although in current conditions it has become to a greater extent “the banner of the war against infidels” for the Islamists, while the related regional groups operate virtually independently.
Lately, the ” Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant “, which managed to force its control over a significant part of Iraq and Syria, is successfully striving to occupy leading position among the extremist organizations.
The terrorists have declared the establishment of an ‘Islamic Caliphate’ on occupied territories and started to set up their own ‘public institutions’, including financial and judicial systems. Sustainable centralized control over the armed groups has been organized.
The strengthening of ISIS has seriously destabilized the situation in Africa. ISIS provides substantial military and financial assistance to the local extremists, sends reinforcements composed of the Syrian and Iraqi terrorists. The groups receiving such support are ‘Ansar al-Sharia’, operating in North Africa, and ‘Boko Haram,’ in the West of the continent, while the greatest threat to the stability of East Africa is the Somali terrorist organization ‘Al-Shabab al-Mujahedeen,’ responsible for a number of high-profile actions.
Equally alarming is the situation that is developing in the Middle East and Central Asia, where extremist organizations such as the ‘Taliban’, ‘Hizb-ut-Tahrir’ and Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan maintain high combat potential. We estimate that currently, in Afghanistan alone, about 50 thousand militants are fighting. Afghan and Pakistani territories host a network of terrorist training camps, including the training camps for suicide bombers.
Active dissemination of radical Islamist ideas has a negative impact on the development of the situation in Southeast Asia. In particular, unpredictable consequences could be caused by the extremist organization, ‘Jamaa Islamiya’, whose main goal is the creation of a single Islamic theocratic state within the borders of Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and the Muslim provinces of Thailand and the Philippines.
In recent years, the level of terrorist threat in Europe has increased. This is primarily due to the insurgents returning from the “hot spots” ready to use the gained experience at home. About 600 jihadists returned in the past four years to Germany alone.
The extremists’ influence has spread to include some South American regions. The Tri-border Area, located along the junction of Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay, is considered a springboard by the extremists.
An undercover activity of some of the states aimed at achieving their own foreign policy missions through secret financing of Islamic structures destabilizes the situation.
While flirting with the extremists, some Western countries seem to be sure that the so-called policy of controlled chaos in far-away regions shall not result in tragic consequences, at least, in the middle term, but I think such opinion is unsound.
It is no secret that it was at the instigation of Western ‘partners’ that since the 1980s, Islamic extremism was rapidly gaining momentum. To counter the Soviet troops in Afghanistan, there was heavy arming – with the funds from the United Stated of America and other NATO states – of scattered groups of Jihadists and Mujahideen who subsequently merged into major terrorist groups and movements. With financial and military assistance from Washington and its allies, rendered in order to eliminate the regime in Syria, unwanted by the West, the ‘Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant’ and ‘Jabhat al-Nusra’ were created. Military intervention in Libya by the Alliance entailed similar results.
Availability of the stable sources of financing for the extremists is the reason for a serious concern. The most reliable cash-flow channels include various non-governmental organizations and foundations. For example, in the states of the Arabian Peninsula there are about 200 such organizations.
A major source of income is the control over drugs production and trafficking. This activity brings the Islamists of the Middle East and Central Asia up to US $500 million a year.
It happens quite often that actions of Washington and the West in general in various regions of the world contribute to creation of serious problems, including drug trafficking, religious extremism and terrorism, after which Washington heroically mobilizes the international community to neutralize the problems.
In general, under the slogan of struggle for ‘pure Islam’, international terrorism is becoming a form of transnational crime. In fact, it has become a lucrative business with capital turnover running into billions, with drug trafficking, hostage taking, smuggling weapons and precious metals.
In search of additional sources of funding, jihadists purposefully develop links with nationalist organizations, pirates and separatists.
Thus, we should expect that, in the short term, the level of terrorist threats in the world would remain high enough. Scaling up of extremist groups, among others at the instigation of the United States and its allies, especially in the Middle East and Central Asia, poses a real threat of terrorism export to European countries, the republics of the CIS and the Asia-Pacific region.
Thank you for your attention.

International terrorism has become one of the most dangerous threats to mankind and it has turned global. This is the considered opinion of Colonel-General Igor Sergun, Director of GRU, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Gen. Staff of the Russian Armed Forces. Speaking in mid-April at the IV Conference on Security in the Defense Ministry in Moscow, Sergun provided a detailed analysis of the problem. Since he is not among the public figures frequently cited in the media, RIR decided to offer its readers the most complete summary of the key theses of the general.

10. Igor Sergun’s Speech at Moscow Conference on International Security 2014 [Source]
Igor Sergun’s speech was made available on the conference website. He noted that the Taliban views the withdrawal of ISAF forces as a success. They expect victory, so see no reason to bother with negotiations at this point. He discussed the three most likely scenarios for future developments in Afghanistan, including some fairly ridiculously exact percentage likelihoods for each scenario:
1.Balance of political forces within the country remains relatively unchanged, supported by a limited Western presence. Afghanistan remains a source of terrorist, extremist, and drug threats for Central Asia. Likelihood 39 percent.
2.Taliban seizes power in the absence of a foreign presence. Islamists could begin infiltrating Central Asian states. Likelihood 27 percent.
3.Afghanistan disintegrates and is divided into ethnic enclaves. This scenario leads to an increase in battle for influence by local and regional powers. Likelihood 31 percent.
In the second part of this speech, Sergun discussed the logistics of the ongoing withdrawal of ISAF forces from Afghanistan. Given the amount of equipment present in the region, his analysis showed that Western states would not be able to withdraw their equipment in the allotted time frame. He argued that while the 40,000 personnel could be withdrawn by the end of 2014, it would be impossible to complete the withdrawal of 40,000 vehicles and 300 helicopters any earlier than 2017. As a result, he claimed that Washington will soon need to start a propaganda campaign to convince the international community that U.S. presence in the region will need to be extended at least through 2024 in order to ensure regional stability. However, this will not change the threat posed by the Taliban to Central Asian states.
This man is obviously a crazy conspiracy theorist….
As Chris Black writes in http://journal-neo.org/2015/05/21/russian-embassy-attack-terrorism-or-act-of-war/ “everyone who is not blind, deaf and dumb knows it is the United States of America and its lieutenants in crime who are engaged in the war against Syria; Britain, France, Canada, Jordan, Turkey, Israel and Saudi Arabia. It is not a matter of these countries “enjoying influence” as the Foreign Ministry stated but a matter of their direct support and control of the forces that attacked the consulate”
EU Nazis and their demented brothers here in Canada and US say one thing about Kosovo that they separated from Serbia by force and killing civilians and then building one of the largest military bases outside of US on stolen land is OK but for people to vote and separate like the Crimean’s that is not OK.
It’s OK for US to spend $5 billion to destabilize Ukraine but it’s not OK for Russia to support the Syrian government.
It’s OK for Cheney’s gang to turn Libya into stone age to take their oil for Halliburton and destroy one of the most prosperous states in Africa and scatter its people to the four winds as they did in Iraq and Afghanistan and now are doing in Yemen.
Who do you think created the death flotilla across the Mediterranean but NATO?. Who do you think created the death march across the southern deserts as people move North from Central America but history of theft and slavery by ITT, American fruit companies and other corporations. International gangsters that is what EU and NATO represent since they do not respect international law or any treaty that they have signed with others. To them everything is changeable retroactively.
The part that you are blind to is NATO’s propaganda that incites hatred towards another people, in this case Russians, or government that are not their prostitutes and to incite calls for aggressive war. I rather spend a month cleaning outhouses with a Russian than a month at a beer garden in Munich with you. NATO has unleashed fifty or so wars in the last 60 years without any remorse for the death and destruction of the whole society. All the war crimes that flow from aggressive war that NATO participates in are crimes against humanity and prohibited under international and national laws.
I think he was being sarcastic (but not sure).
Looked sarcastic to me, that’s why I approved it
it was sarcasm:)
Better make the most of it.
Soon it’ll be a dead serious statement if it is up to Cameron, French and Canadian law, basically Western rhetoric
Yeah — we need a sarcasm flag.
Or maybe he’s just reporting what was heard on US ‘news’ media…
I saw an email from a right-winger the other day saying Putin is a communist, and one from a liberal saying he’s a fascist, and there are plenty of ignorant clowns saying he is both — at the same time.
How do you do sarcasm during a food fight in the zoo’s monkey cage?
; ) winks work;
or pseudo html tag, /sarc (‘turn off’ sarcasm).
I had a FB Friend call President Putin a “crazy communist.” LOL Yes, I did find it funny because it shows the extend of the corporate media mind control propaganda.
I just make corrections to statements like that and post articles that I hope at least someone else checks out.
speaking of mind control and media, I am again watching (one of?) Chomsky’s long (over 2 1/2 hours) speeches on ‘Manufacturing Consent’ (also name of book he wrote with Edward S. Herman).

It’s still fantastic, even watching it multiple times, and still very much in date even if not covering most recent events.
Anyone who has not watched this, by all means do so, and those who have, it’s worth seeing again — it’s that’s rich and packed with information.
I closed my FB account for this very reason. I find FB saddens me, being as an observer to the mass brainwashing of a species is not my kind of entertainment. If I want to watch a field full of sheep I can take the dog for a walk – I have better company and at least I’m out in the fresh (chemtrails permitting) air :D
Western aggression and brutality is easily understood when you remember that Western elites are hereditary claques consisting almost entirely of psychopaths. Hence murder and destruction does not dismay them-it excites them and brings them pleasure. US wars are always fought against materially weak enemies, are genocidal and the US military invariably prefers the most cowardly means of combat, being scared to death of death. The quintessential US tactic is the use of the death-squad to terrorise restive civilian populations into surrender. Another favourite pursuit is torture, a constant feature of US life, not just abroad, not just taught to vicious stooges, but omnipresent in the Heimat, in prisons, police cells, secret police torture chambers and even in schools. And like their Judaic controllers in Israel, the American elite see genocide as a divinely ordained sacrament, demanded by ‘God’ throughout the Old Testament/Torah, and celebrated every year at Purim and Passover.
For those who still believe in the superiority/civilize behavior of the “West” :
The slave states, the USA, UK and Canada sabotaged the recent five yearly review of the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (which was totally unreported in the Western MSM) to once again protect their Masters in Israel from an Egyptian resolution, supported by most of the world, to make the Middle East a nuclear-free region. So Iran is harassed, its people die in the absence of sanctioned medicines and it is threatened with illegal attack, for its non-existent nuclear program, while the Treasured Nation, the Eternal and Chosen People once again pull on their slaves’ leashes and the world is held to ransom.
Forgive my naivety, but how do we now that the US does/did support ISIS? I find it difficult to believe, after all they have been bombing ISIS and killed or injured several of their high military leaders. The Saudis alright, but Obama? Seriously? The most plausible explanation I have read is that ISIS is largely a perverted form of Sunni Arab nationalism, with many of Saddam Husseins old generals in command. One source for its success is the Iraqi shiite government’s discrimination against Sunnis, a policy which was not supported by the US but carried out by Iraqi president Maliki. See the following article:
“Baghdadi’s effort was further aided by a new round of de-Baathification launched after US troops left in 2011 by then Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, who set about firing even those officers who had been rehabilitated by the American military.
Among them was Brigadier General Hassan Dulaimi, a former intelligence officer in the old Iraqi army who was recruited back into service by US troops in 2006, as a police commander in Ramadi, the capital of the long restive province of Anbar. Masked Sunni fighters in Ramadi in December following raids by government forces Brigadier General Hassan Dulaimi was dismissed as the police commander in Ramadi, which is now partly controlled by Isis
Within months of the American departure, he was dismissed, he said, losing his salary and his pension, along with 124 other officers who had served alongside the Americans.”
Thus ISIS was hardly created by the US. As usually is the case, there is some agency on the ground and these terrorist movements are not simply remote-controlled by the “imperial masters”, even if their interests would sometimes happen to coincide.
Nice logic. They didn’t do it, therefore they didn’t do it.
I rest my case.
The US CIA and DIA and all the contractors thank you.
* They may bomb them to control them to go in a different direction.
* They may pretend to bomb them, to be able to air-drop supplies to them (this has happened several times this year, some of it on camera).
* Or they may pretend to bomb them, as an excuse for bombing some place the on-ground groups cannot destroy badly or quickly enough. You will note they bomb “them” in cities full of civilians, not out on the open road on their way there.
Of course they start out with small groups that have an existing fight with someone else. But doesn’t have a lot of weapons or people.
Support consists of all types of supplies and some controllers on the ground, as well as training camps. Just this past year in the Middle East alone, they jihadists have been seen with at least 5 different sets (each set different colour) of matching Toyota trucks, in one case enough to make a convoy nearly 2 miles long. That stuff doesn’t grow on trees: it costs big money and organisation to order and deliver.
… or what about pretending to bomb ISIS, but actually using that as cover to “accidentally” bomb regular Syrian Army forces (“chaos of war”), in support of ISIS? (Syria without ISIS = no USA flights over Syria; Syria + ISIS = USA flights over Syria.)
That, and they also supply the takfiris with ammo etc. that way.
Oh and – back then in Iraq they flew some 2000+ sorties a day, while against ISIS they fly like 10-20 a day. There you can see the real “effort”.
They are posting the stats in real-time on military websites, don’t have the link handy but it’s easy to find.
The fact is that the more the USA “bombs” ISIS, the more powerful they become.
Notice how since the war on terror, it increased drastically? kinda like the war on drugs where it turned out cia and other intelligence agencies were fueling it….
Biden and Cheny and Wolfowitz all wanted Iraq in pieces. Kurd, Sunni and Shia sectors.
They also wanted Syria sliced and diced. And that is what ISIS is used for.
When the end of those projects is in sight, they will put ISIS away in the region and move them North against Orthodox nations and East against China and Russia’s Central Asian partners.
Get on board reality. These enormous events are nurtured. There is nothing to this related to Saudi nationalism. Wahabbism is the spiritual core. Funded by the Kingdom to go raise hell in the world against Iran, the West, and Orthodox Russia.
The Kingdom funds the liver-eaters, as does Qatar. Do you think they want those loons inside their kingdoms?
What you say merely is lacing together erroneous information.
“Forgive my naivety”
Stop reading US/UK propaganda outlets.
There are Baghdadi articles a-plenty…….search the archives of,
for articles featuring Senator John McCain, meeting and greeting, Al-Baghdadi who did time in US detention to obtain street cred (similar conditions to Stepan Bandera in Sachsenhausen), but is really an Isreali operative.
“As one Iranian leader noticed…yes they could mistakenly drop supplies once…but five times? in 1 day!.”
The US and friends routinely bomb oil refineries and infrastructure vital to the Syrian people, the same as they did in Jugoslavia, Ukraine, Yemen,Gaza,Libya,Iraq and everywhere else.
It is their standard MO,and ISIS/IS is the military version of ‘rent-a-crowd’ or ‘Revolutions-Are-Us’
When Baghdadi dies, the CIA will put another star on their memorial wall.
Alongside al-Zaqawi, and Osama bin Laden and patsies. And not to forget Lee Harvey Oswald.
Exactly. The Anglozionists have been using terror as one of their favourite tools for a long time.
Meyssan’s report on McCain and Ibrahim al-Badri alias Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi is here. Many others on US Air Force destroying Syrian infrastructure allegedly “to prevent it from benefitting ISIS”.
They also perpetrate individual acts of terrorism, like the assassination of Alfred Herrhausen, one of chancellor Kohl’s most important consultants, who, back in 1990, promoted European economic integration up to the Ural mountains and a new Gründerzeit in Europe (period of extraordinary prosperity). Which is why the Anglos assassinated him.
Basically, whenever there is an act of terrorrism, like when “a pilot or co-pilot commits suicide” (as in flight Germanwings 9525, note the symbolism in the airline’s name) you can assume it’s the Anglozionists at work.
There are pictures of McCain and other American officials meeting with ISIS officials and offering them support.Very similar to the meetings with the coup plotters in Ukraine before the coup. That is one of the first clues of US involvement .
There is a very strong rumor that ISIS was first supported and helped to be formed by the Israeli Mossad.(Some of their fighters seek medical treatment in Israeli border hospitals.Hardly an act of “charity” that Israel is known for.)That isn’t nearly as strange as it seems. The Israelis helped in the creation of,and bankrolled, the start of Hamas. They wanted a group of extremist Islamists to split Muslim support away from the secular PLO.They thought they could control them. And their extremism would taint the Palestinian movement among secular Arabs, and Westerners. But sadly for Israel,Hamas took their ideals seriously and turned on the Israelis. Now the Israelis try to hide their start up of Hamas from the Western public (I’m sure the governments always knew about it). And pretend they are the “innocent” victims of the, oh so mean, Hamas.
The US and Israel have a long history of using jihadi thugs to get what they want in the MENA. And those jihadi groups they’ve supported, have a long history of ending up turning on them.As long as ISIS was only working against Assad in Syria, the US was happy with them. But when they routed the US trained Iraqi army, and attacked the Kurds. Then they became a problem for the Empire. Hirelings aren’t supposed to turn on their masters like that. What is the world coming to when your own hired killers get “uppity” and want more than the money and arms you give After all, they were going to have Assad’s head (and maybe liver as well),what else did they need.Oh yes, there is that jihadi “thingy”,they are supposed to be fighting for. I guess the rank and file take that more seriously than the leaders.
Personally,I believe we are dealing with a two pronged problem.I think that the Israelis and US only have some of their aims in common, leading to problems.Such as the reported killing by Americans of what turned out to be Mossad agents (helping lead ISIS teams) in a bombing attack. And while they both use these groups. The US has particular aims in mind.Such as the overthrow of Assad. And along with their third pardner in crime (the Gulf Monarchies),to diminish Iranian influence, and build a pipeline for gas to Europe through Syria. Therefore sticking a knife in Russia’s back as well. While Israel is happy for those groups to just spread terror and destruction throughout the MENA. Preventing any state to become strong enough to give Israel problems with their ongoing ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people from their homeland.
Israel certainly has aided the al-Qaeda franchise, al-Nusra. Hundreds of al-Nusra murderers have been medically treated in Israel, and Satanyahu even visited to congratulate them on working for the destruction of Syria, according to the Oded Yinon Plan. The UN actually complained of Israeli co-operation with the takfiris threatening UN forces.
The US has been reaching out to gangsters, fascists and cultists in foreign lands since using the Mafia at the end of WW2 to keep Italian partisans down.
How? You google us supports isis and get pages of links.
Please note the rampant gains made by ‘IS’ since US, UK, Canada, Australia arrive in Iraq and gong through the back door to Syria ‘to fight IS’.
There are numerous reports of US & UK “accidently” dropping weapons to IS, and other reports of Iraqis downing a plane / h’copter in process of dropping arms to them.
Insiders from Syria are saying that after Palmyra was secured – IS was given air cover to get back in.
As for flattening Kobane, some suspect there is a gas hub motive for clearing that town.
(BTW : I assume Kobane and all the grain silo’s destroyed in Syria by US mst have been done with feather bombs, as there is still so much hysteria about emotively termed ‘Barrel’ bombs – which are Russian design ‘FABs’ / general purpose tunnel etc buster bombs)
One needs to ask too : Why are fundamentalist terrorists out with bulldozers and hammers flattening ancient sites.
(Did an Anglohadi of US or Juhadi of JS sniff gas or oil beneath them was my cynical partners question).
Then the much Hollywood heroic hullabaloo about killing ONE terrorist (on the day Syria nabbed other big fish), I’m not convinced it happened … not one pic that I could find, so it could well be ‘an Osama drama’ … at a time when surely observers must well be asking how come IS making so many gains with the entire Anglohadi Crown Colony there to fight them.
That whole drama lent credence to more boots on the ground warranted in Syria .. and you may recall, it was all juxtaposed with a (good looking crisis actor) mother of a never mentioned before missing journalist in Syria pleading for international intervention to go find her son …
So a lot of the now standard kabuki theatre – and IS deliberately being strengthened with arms and invading numbers – as well as united and professionally co-ordinated.
Anonymous who asks “How do we know US supports ISIS?”
Here’s a whole bunch of links and some excerpts, too. If you want more, search “US Behind ISIS” in Globalresearch.ca search box.

To say that there is something strange about ISIS is perhaps the understatement of all time. Can we call them “The Not Very Islamic State?” What they seem to have is friends, people who give them intelligence help, satellite photos, people who train them to operate complex American weapons, people who shepherd their personnel around like diplomats. What they also have are business partners, partners who are clearly above the law. Who has that kind of influence? http://journal-neo.org/2014/12/31/something-strange-about-isis/
http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article40347.htm Germany’s international broadcaster Deutsche Welle (DW) published a video report of immense implications – possibly the first national broadcaster in the West to admit that the so-called “Islamic State” (ISIS) is supplied not by “black market oil” or “hostage ransoms” but billions of dollars worth of supplies carried into Syria across NATO member Turkey’s borders via hundreds of trucks a day.
The report titled, “‘IS’ supply channels through Turkey,” confirms what has been reported by geopolitical analysts since at least as early as 2011 – that NATO member Turkey has allowed a torrent in supplies, fighters, and weapons to cross its borders unopposed to resupply ISIS positions inside of Syria. There is a long pause in the middle of the video which you must wait thru; it’s not over.
10/19/14 finian cunningham http://nsnbc.me/2014/10/18/washington-admits-fsa-equals-fictitious-syrian-army/ The open secret of weapons supplies to extremists from the US, coordinated by its Central Intelligence Agency and routed through Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Jordan, is not even a matter of controversy in the Western media. It has already been reported with mundane indifference by mainstream Western media outlets, such as the New York Times and the Daily Telegraph.
http://nsnbc.me/2014/06/15/isis-unveiled-identity-insurgency-syria-iraq/ Christof Lehmann (nsnbc) : The ISIS/ISIL offensive of June 2014 in Iraq and any political or military responses to it cannot be understood without first “unveiling ISIS”. ISIS/ISIL brigades seized Iraq’s northern city of Mosul and most of western Iraq within days. Iraqi military withdrew from Iraq’s second-largest city after no more than token resistance. Unveiling ISIS, all trails lead to the royal house of Saud, CIA headquarters, and their shared network for global mercenary and terrorist operations called Al-Qaeda.
Origin of ISIS/ISIL as Al-Qaeda in Iraq – Weaving the Veil of ISIS. ISIS / ISIL is a successor organization of the former Al-Qaeda in Iraq, allegedly established by Abdullah al-Rashid al-Baghdadi. Al Baghdadi, however, was a creation of Al-Qaeda, a publicity figure with the function to endow the Saudi-U.S. creation “Al-Qaeda” with an Iraqi face, whom radicalized Iraqi Sunni Muslims could identify with.
Thanks Penelope…as usual you come up with the greatest links…and educate rather than blow your stack at such an ignorant comment by … another anonymous … who else ? … it’s probably never going to be known whether this naive anonymous reads all the links you’ve provided so selflessly.

Since the first bombing of isis in Syria, isis has doubled its territory. The bombing of syria is done for the destabilisation of the Assad regime and the advancement of isis which u will see unfold shortly.
If you consult Pepe Escobar, Land Destroyer, Voltaire Net and numerous other sites you will see that Daash is entirely a creation of the USA, NATO, Saudi Arabia and the other evil Gulf tyrannies and, of course, Israel. Seymour Hersh’s ‘The Redirection’ of 2007 outlines how these evil scum decided on fomenting a Sunni/Shia war, after Hezbollah’s defeat of Israel in 2006. The whole genocidal scheme also fulfills the infamous Oded Yinon ‘Zionist Plan’ of 1982, to destroy all Israel’s neighbours, one by one, by fomenting sectarian strife, so that God’s Chosen could live in safety their ‘California lifestyle’. The millions of dead Moslems must be thought of as so many mitzvot, as Judaic religious authorities have repeatedly insisted, over centuries, that killing enemy civilians is a religiously sanctified ‘good deed’. Their monstrous allies and ‘cousins’, the Wahhabists’ think exactly alike regarding non-Sunnis, and non-Wahhabists to be precise.
The conspiracies go back decades. We Americans paid for the road in Afghanistan that enabled the Russians to easily invade that country back in the 80’s. http://www.garynorth.com/public/13836.cfm
since generations the demons are rejoicing with the blindness of the American for the dangers of habitual lying on every time of the day and layer of society, where ” a dirty success still is a success” …
They are like medicine doctors eagerly questing worldwide for social infective ideas not to fight them but to spread them for their Anglo-jewish “divide and rule”-game.
But we are not longer alone – this is about the opposite scale weighing out the evil loosers:
Anglo-Zionist divide & rule game– not Anglo-jewish.. Jews are a much broader swathe of humanity, most just as innocent as you and I.
You discredit yourself when you vilify by race, ethnicity or religion. And heaven knows we need as many credible, persuasive people as we can get. Thanks for considering it.
Totally agree Penelope.I despise the zionist establishment in Israel ,but that does mean that I despise Jewish people.Among the zionist group is included many christian people ,neocons would be a better word, that have been brainwashed and salivating for their rapture. What utter nonsense from a group of people that are being used by an evil entity .
You supplied terrorist with wapons to kill Russian and with mney and political support.
… IF you believe Gary North, super-puritanical Calvinist, extremist, Christianist takfiri, who believes that the U.S. should be an old-testament theocracy that executes “sinners” by stoning (because that’s what “the bible says”).
Gary North wasn’t cited for his biblical views but for a factual matter regarding who built the tank-capable roads into Afghanistan.
In any case, it is not in any way central or necessary to the current discussion of the proofs available for US backing of ISIS, al qaeda, boko haram, etc.
Thank you Butte Bill. Extremely interesting link.

Well said. It’s like leaving a “calling card”.
This speech from Sergun seems to be the second example I know of the Russian government letting it be known that they not only know the USA is behind these “Muslim” terrorist ops, but that it is based on strong intelligence evidence in their hands. The first was when Putin said Russian intelligence had solid evidence of American involvement with the “Muslim” terrorists attacking Russia. What these men are revealing one can be sure is just the tip of the iceberg of what they know of American control of these terrorist armies.
This entry needs to be quoted all across western blog and media sites. The more people in the west are exposed to this information, the more difficult it will be for the ZPC/NWO to continue using these terror ops to wreck countries independent of their parasitism.
The Western MSM sewer suppresses all this easily accessible information, while peddling all the lies with 100% Groupthink. Scum-holes like the ‘liberal’ Guardian are amongst the worst. They are, most definitely, complicit in genocide, before, during and after the act, yet with that vile hypocrisy that Western presstitutes have made their own, they nauseatingly pose as ‘moral’ agents. I hope and pray, that someday, like their exemplars such as Julius Streicher, they will face justice for their perfidy.
Well now that he has brought the problem up.What does he plan to do about it. As many people know. The old Soviet KGB had two parts (maybe even more. But I know of two). The internal, shall we say “secret police” section. And the foreign intelligence and operations section. Oh,how I miss that foreign sections abilities. If they still operated correctly. There would be a string of “missing” and dead terrorists, nazis, and Western coup plot leaders, from Washington to Abu Dubai, and everywhere in between. And no,encase anyone was wondering.I wouldn’t shed one tear about them. After seeing the millions that have been murdered and maimed because of those hyenas (and the many more to come.Including possibly in a nuclear war).My “milk of human kindness” has all dried up. Today’s FSB/GRU may be identifying the problems. And that is all well and good. But solving them is what’s needed. And talking with “our pardners and colleagues” is not “cutting the mustard” with solving those problems.Surely there are some of the younger “old hands” from those days that would be willing to help today’s “youngsters” with their past expertise.I know from what we see, the Novorossians could use a whole team of them just by themselves to deal with their genocidal enemies.
The only reason they are not used is because Putin is a stickler for law and order. If you noticed, he always uses established rules to go by. Even the way he supports Syria and the NAF. Although he often overlooks what others are doing, he does not do it. Drives me nuts but the guy does things only his way. I would not think doing things the AZ way would be difficult and a lot easier to get results. I think it might be because he wants a world with rules and laws and everyone has to follow them no matter how high or how low. Him doing things out of this would make him a hypocrite. For an intelligence operative I am surprised by his ethics in the matter. I know I know.. But other than mud slinging by the US or UK, they have not shown any proof he ordered any putative action against his enemies. Even going after them using laws already established in Russia or the UN rather then using cia tactics.
If anyone was wondering about “why” all the US continuing interest in Afghanistan.Well,of course there are the more well know interests, drugs, stir trouble throughout Central Asia. But there is another interest as well (just encase,no its not humanitarian). It seems Afghanistan is an Aladdin’s treasure chest of mineral wealth. The Soviets did geological surveys there during the 1980’s.Hoping to see if there was anything to help modernize the economy, and discovered all that. The US found all the Soviet maps and checked them out. And sure enough the Soviets were right:
While I’m on the subject of imperialists stealing (or wanting too). There is a story of the Israelis again claiming all Palestine for the Jews:
“It’s all ours’: Israeli deputy FM slams Western interference, saying Holy Land is Jewish
“We need to return to the basic truth of our rights to this country,” she said in her speech, which was cited by AP. “This land is ours. All of it is ours. We did not come here to apologize for that.”
“We expect as a matter of principle of the international community to recognize Israel’s right to build homes for Jews in their homeland, everywhere,” she said.
I think I know why so many Jews have no problem agreeing with the Bandera in Ukraine. They think the same way concerning Israel.
The truth is that ‘antisemitism'(TM) is at once an invention, used to terrorise, vilify and intimidate those who criticise Israeli barbarity, and the crudest psychological projection of the true ‘Oldest Hatred’-Judaic antigoyism. As the Jews created themselves in eternal separation from and opposition to non-Jews, that antigoyism is clearly the source of the hatred, and Judeophobia a reaction to it. Not that Judeophobia or antigoyism are in any way acceptable. Hatred of the Other, of any group however defined, and of every member of that group, no matter what their individual character or behaviour, is plainly mad and wicked. But let’s not allow ourselves to be fooled about who is, historically and contemporarily, the aggressor in the majority of instances. Just ask any Palestinian.
I am projecting that the Russians and Chinese will soon have a strategic operation that deal with some of these manifestations.
Iraq and Syria are serious issues for both nations. Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan are serious issues for both nations, and Pakistan is a serious issue for both nations.
Using SCO, with Russia’s enormous Intel and Military experience dealing with Wahabbis sponsored by Saudi and US, we are about to see a complete Eurasia offensive to rollback ISIS.
Iran will soon be out of the penalty box of sanctions and will implement actions as an SCO observer, earning very early entrance into the organization.
The pronouncements from the Kremlin and Foreign Ministry and now GRU are preamble to the use of force. And knowing how both these nations, Russian and China, prefer to act, I suspect, too that they will go to the UNSC to get International sanction of whoever finances the ISIS machine.
These two nations just did nighttime live fire from their coordinated navies in the Mediterranean exercises, all of which were designed for action against non-state adversaries (pirates and terrorists).
The boots will be on the ground soon. Not US or NATO. SCO special ops boots.
Totally agree, Larchmonter, except for Iran being out of the penalty box for sanctions.
I can’t see the sanctions being lifted. Obama said the nuclear-related ones, openly reserving the right to maintain all/any sanctions put on for other excuses. I am not even sure Iran really will go along with the proposed inspections regime. You can’t prove a negative, USA will never be satisfied, and the plans I’ve read about already include rights to inspect anywhere they “suspect” even if not military or industrial. It virtually lets them crawl all over everything in Iran at will.
Do you think they’ll agree, just to see if the sanctions really go? or to prove how big a lie Obama was telling?
I believe the sanctions will remain in place for leverage.
This field is shared between Qatar and Iran, the nuclear issue has always been for public consumption.
This is the largest gas field presently, Almost available, the US cannot be seen to be ‘horse trading’ for Qatar’s interest, but these are all US/UK bases, proxy special forces and all round ‘can-do’ boys.
With China and Russia exponentially increasing their industrial capacity, sanctions against Iran are really irrelevant, after all India, China and Russia sidestep them constantly.
Once Russia’s version of SWIFT is a go, the US sanctions will only be
adhered to by US vassals, the recent AIIB signups have shown the US which way the wind bloweth.
The legal details of how this gas field is to be shared might prove very illuminating, like, can the Qataris liquify gas and sell without consent?
I believe the UN-based sanctions are doomed. The US Congress-based sanctions will remain.
And the crack in the wall already exists. The Iranian economy is ready to burst open for the greedy EU investors. They want in.
China and Russia want the sanctions lifted and will work to get that crack in the wall widened.
The US had sanctions on Iran since ’79, but it was only the last few years when China and Russia joined because it was about a nuclear deal that they see as the correct way to go.
I think something less than all sanctions dropped will happen.
Especially, if Pakistan and Saudi really are talking about a transfer of technology (and maybe pre-made warheads). Then Iran has to get freed up and move fast under a Russian-Chinese umbrella of defense. Distance saved them from Israeli nukes. There is no limits if Saudis get nukes.
Nuclear proliferation has been controlled fairly well, but Wahabbis will be a nightmare if Saudis get nukes. Thus, the Iranian recognition must be they can be a giant if there are no more nukes in the Middle East. They will be a target with three nuclear-armed existential enemies if the Sunni bomb moves to the ME. US, Israel and SA would force Iran back inside its borders and cripple their economy with the need for massive military defense spending far beyond what they now need.
Two notes on non-proliferation.
1. France is a nuclear power. Germany isn’t, yet US has stationed nukes in German (& perhaps other European countries?). US says it can do this cuz the nukes are under US control, not German control. There is no provision for this little trick in the NPTreaty. Just this week Russia made a statement about “Nukes not being necessary in Europe”, perhaps referring to this. If US can station nukes in Germany, then Russia or China can station them wherever, too.
2. The NPT was not intended to create a permanent class of haves & have nots. Rather, in signing the NPT, the have-nots were doing so under the explicit understanding that the haves were going to move towards eradication. Everybody seems to have forgotten this.
Plus, the haves were obliged under the NPT to help the have-nots develop the civilian nuclear sector.
The nuclear weapons that Usania has deployed in Germany (as well as Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands) may be under Usanian control but are to be delivered, if push comes to shove, by German Air Force.
Penelope… I agree with your conclusion.. if you can have nuke in Germany why in new military block Russia/China/India can have it in Iran…
Kat Kan, that reminds me: This is the month that Russia was supposed to complete the international part of their alternative SWIFT program. Has anybody heard anything?
Thank you for asking, Penelope
Russia’s alternative to SWFT is up and running since April 2015 for the Russia’s banks.
On May 23, 2015 the new national payments system is made a decision on a name and design of a new national payment card: Mir (Peace) with a blue globe. the name and design is based on the result of a national contest. A woman from Udmurtia won the first price. http://narodnayakarta.vesti.ru/
The new national payment card will replace Visa and MC on December 1st, 2015.
More on the new national payment system here:

Russia Switches to National Card Payment System for Business Sovereignty
Thank you, Scott.
I don’t like the name they chose for the card. MIR = world, yes, but it is not written that way in Russian. How will westerners say МИР? There are plenty of suitable names they could have chosen from letters that look and sound the same in Latin letters, and would be ok as credit card names. This IS going to be used elsewhere I do assume.
hahaha, the Chinese word for atom transliterates to yuánzǐ how close to yuan is that?
“While flirting with the extremists, some Western countries seem to be sure that the so-called policy of controlled chaos in far-away regions shall not result in tragic consequences, at least, in the middle term, but I think such opinion is unsound.”
Well, yes and no. Of course, Western imperialism has a highly justified historical reputation among its faithful domestic subjects for offering “benign protection”. The more so since the accompanying deception and violent coercion of aforesaid benign protection would be the eternal privilege of the enslaved global majority outside Western Europe and North America.
But things are changing, and it’s going downhill ever faster. The proverbial 1% has no real commitment to the well-being of any of its bootlickers, be it their Corporate Presstitutes, their Politicos, their mercenaries, or the plain, average, arrogant Western bigot further down the food chain. Western social cohesion is becoming a thing of the past. Personally, I feel highly disposed to believe that mayhem and squalor is coming our way with the full approval of the 1%. The 1% keeps launching unending imperialist wars with a view not just to steal and rape, but also to create refugee torrents and hence illegal immigration to the West. This, in turn, breeds Western insanity and paranoia — usually referred to as “right-wing extremism”. Actually, for the time being, much of the latter only results in craven, utterly futile pleas to the 1% for “Imperialism Without Immigrants and Refugees”, but there is always the ‘Breivik’ risk factor. Igor Sergun is correct as he mentions the policy of controlled chaos in far-away regions. And, maybe without knowing it, he has been 100% corroborated already of this being an “unsound idea” — provided the 1% really cared, of course Anders Behring Breivik showed eloquently how this policy backfires (literally!) unless the 1% exports all the psychotic offal to their battlefields around the world. Needless to say, a growing Islamist underground recruited among directionless young urban poor will bring about similar niceties as well.
Lastly, it is the 1% which constitutes the real extremists. Totally psychotic and evil all along the line.
Thank you Saker and Shed. Wonderful to hear a Russian speak so frankly. This speech was given 4/16/15 and I’ve certainly not hear a whisper of it till now. According to you footnote, just a week later he said the US was responsible for every war taking place. Again not a peep have I heard. One doesn’t expect it from the corporate media, but I wonder why no one in alternative media picked it up sooner. Oh well, I guess they will now.
South Africa is under heavy terror attacks in all sectors, educational institutions, government, police, business, banks, shopping centers, intemediation in streets etc
Anonymous, I posted this the other day. Re-posting it here cuz it sheds light on why S. Africa under attack.
5/20/15 The newest de-stabilization: S. Africa. She is the force behind pan-African integration, the African Renaissance program, and creation of the African Standby Force. So 3 mysterious events are occurring: 1. somebody is attacking African foreigners in S. Africa. (Leaving untouched Asians, Whites, Pakistanis, etc). 2. The media is showing photos of a different time and place of people being burned alive, presented as if they were a current event in S. Africa. The media is unanimous in using the word “xenophobia”. 3. Massive numbers of text messages sent out to orchestrate fear & attacks. http://nsnbc.me/2015/05/20/the-attack-on-south-africa-round-three/
Islamic State is self financing. At one point a Saudi sympathizer donated to them (bribe in hope of not being killed later.) Once activated, they made their money trhough bank robberies (just one heist of Iraqi central bank yielding half a billion dollars!) hostage ransoms, hijacking, stolen oil sales, etc. Their weapons and equipment have been bought on the black market, stolen, or foraged from the enemies they destroyed, including heavy American weapons that were captured after wiping out FSA (CIA bay of pigs type group) and the Iraqi army (joint Iranian-American group). Their emphasis on mobility allows them to capture some supply drops from a largely inexperienced and impotent coalition (US-UK).
BRICS countries are using a propaganda campaign to make IS appear to be under US control (it isn’t and never will be) to create negative publicity about US-Saudi-UK. US-Saudi-UK have their own IS propaganda campaign similar to Iraq war. Their population wants war but their militaries are too weak to do anything meaningful, and any significant military usage would amount to admiting that the US lost the Iraq war (mission accomplished).
IS attacks on Saudi Arabia are already underway. Not too long ago a Saudi General was killed by an IS attack group, demoralizing an already ineffective military. Saudi’s have started constructing a high tech border wall (worse than worthless maginot line) in response. Several occasions IS has blasted through weak Saudi border guards and infiltrated the nearby towns. Saudi’s have arrested several IS cells within their country, but there are likely many more. As of now the Saudis are deporting and purging en masse; they face a dual threat of Yemenis and IS. The latest Al-Baghdadi recording heavily criticizes Saudi Arabia.
In this instance, Sergun knows that IS represents an existential threat to any and all nation states (IS doesn’t rely on nation state stability. It thrives on its destruction.) He no doubt remembers the Chechen economic attacks on gazprom and rosneft and knows that IS is capable of far, far more than Chechen mujahadeen were able to accomplish. He also knows that many members of IS are Chechen, who likely have sympathizers or dormant members in Russia itself.
IS can afford to openly challenge the Iraqi government (weak, corrupt) but they will most likely not attempt similar tactics if they were to attack Russia, US, or anywhere similar.
So let’s gets this straight, they are self-financing (GRU head admits it) and equipped by black market links, quasi legal channels (US weapons on ebay) or stolen. They are attacking key US allies (Kurds,Saudi, Iraq puppets), killing US nationals and allies and video recording it with more or less impunity (exposing US impotence) attacking the US itself (failed Texas attack, though there are likely many more preparing for attack) and absolutely every nation state is launching relentless propaganda against IS, knowing full well how dangerous they are. They’ve shown the world just how pathetic and ineffective the US military is after its defeat in Iraq And people are still believing that the US controls or benefits from Islamic state’s actions? lol.

It’s very important to the ZPC/NWO that nobody realises that these “Muslim” terrorists are ZPC/NWO proxies. I understand that. Thank you for confirming that in fact they are.
Yep, you’ve got the US propaganda line down pat. But there’s overwhelming evidence that Israel and Turkey treat ISIS, al qaeda, etc. wounded. Also that they are supplied out of Jordan & Turkey. US supplies are flown into both airports & the materiel is trucked in. Training takes place in the same two locations.
There are witness accounts of seeing US airdrop emergency supplies to them. US has admitted this on at least 2 occasions (It was a mistake).
That Saudi general who was killed was probably part of a purge. After all, ISIS is largely paid by the Saudis. They crossed the border, killed the general who happened to be at a border checkpoint & re-crossed the border.
Early on, a TV reporter explained that the ISIS headquarters that the US had hit & was bragging about had been empty for weeks and all the locals had told her that. Remarkable how fast the TV station cut her off.
Self-financing (untrue) or not, all armies need a supply line & obviously neither US nor its allies is interrupting that supply line.
Corporate media is there to manufacture your consent.
When they sell oil they sell it at $10 a barrel. They have 100,000 mouths to feed everyday.
They robbed some banks. The trucks they drive by the hundreds, maybe thousands cost money. They are always new Toyotas.
The notion that they self-finance is ludicrous. (What? Cookie sales?)
Saudi and Qatar have been financing these swine for years with billions of dollars.
Guns, ammo, fuel, lubricants for vehicles, medicines, uniforms, food, water, bribes, media, etc cost hundreds of millions.
Yes, they got abandoned heavy equipment from Iraq, but not much in Syria. The Syria supply comes from the US through Turkey. That’s what Benghazi was all about.
There are teams of “doubters” we have become festooned with on these topics of late.
Hard to tell whether these Anons are stupid, naive or trolls.
I’m betting the latter.
As another poster below, funding something is not controlling it.
Israeli treatment of wounded. Israeli-US-UK create (with advanced anouncement) FSA to attack Assad regime. IS rapidly infiltrates, forages, absorbs (one of many revenue streams) material of FSA for quite some time. Based on several pictures. Incompetent western forces cannot tell who is who and are easily fooled, maybe some managed to get some treatment (medical version of green on blue attack). Global economic interconnection (internet, cheap shipping) enables them to get whatever they need. Most transit states are hollow and corrupt. Material passes through with few losses.
Supply drops that fell into unitended hands? Was the NVA a proxy army, too? lol. Americans are famous for screwing up supply drops, and frequently abandon useable material.
Ultra low operating costs (don’t have nation state burdens and waste, simple sharia rules) + access to black market economy that is larger than the “lawful” economy (plus reestablishment of old trade routes not possible under Saddam or American occupation) + drug cartel grade multitude of revenue streams, and equate that to cookie sales? lol.
Saudi general. All IS attackers were killed in the attack, if I recall correctly. Wouldn’t have been surprising if they didn’t escape (corrupt security) but it appears they didn’t intend to (glory from death in battle more popular than weak Saudi/Iraqi/American troops who are in it for the paycheck). IS has proven to be competent in acquiring targeting information (airforce pilots after pilot burning.) Probably found the General the same way. No evidence of purge victim; plenty of evidence it was IS.
Actually it is very important for ZPC/NWO (?) to make people think that they are strong, so as to reduce the probabilty of meaningful resistance (reduces potential challengers to cower in fear.) They rely on self activating conspiracy theorists to self-indoctrinate in order to create a narrative of American invulnerability and omniscience. This narrative works well for NWO (already dead) despite the obvious state of the military (always loses, destroying itself) and security apparatus (jacks off to porn, plays videos games, spys on wives and girlfriends, distracted by false positives, too much data to analyze.) They have you. Others (IS and affiliated groups, drug cartels, MEND, autodefensas, other non state groups, BRICS) know better, and are taking advantage of the spasming corpse that is the Americans.
You’ll know it’s a US proxy army by one fact alone: they quickly get absorbed, neautralized, or annihilated fairly rapidly (bay of pigs, arvn, kurds (not yet) georgian army, ukrop, Iraqi army etc). Their proxy armies may have their day for a bit, but they can’t withstand any serious challenger for too long.
Supporting someone and controlling them is not the same. US obviously supports Israel, and yet has trouble controlling it; US supported Saddam for many years, and yet lost control; US supports Saudis and yet they do not strictly follow orders. And that’s besides the deceptions.
Your reductionist thinking leaves a great deal out.
In case anyone needs an outright confession of Western complicity in ISIS, there’s one available here: http://levantreport.com/2015/05/19/2012-defense-intelligence-agency-document-west-will-facilitate-rise-of-islamic-state-in-order-to-isolate-the-syrian-regime/
Mods please note that the CAPS above are in the original source.
There’s plenty of supporting links to follow as well.
Sure they are self financing..they even steal Iraqi oil, transport it hundreds of kms in trucks on flat open terrain, and then sell it openly inside Turkey, a NATO member and US ally, yet the region is supposedly under surveillance by high resolution NATO military satellites. Heck, they are even being given free medical attention in Israel and Turkey and being sent back to behead more people! You must think the GRU is led by fools and Saker readers to be imbeciles. Pathetic.
“In general, under the slogan of struggle for ‘pure Islam’, international terrorism is becoming a form of transnational crime. In fact, it has become a lucrative business with capital turnover running into billions, with drug trafficking, hostage taking, smuggling weapons and precious metals.”
Even GRU knows they are self financing. He even uses the word “lurative.” Passing through corrupts states under NATO surveillance is no problem (forgery, bribes). But go ahead and keep shilling for the nonexistent effectiveness of the zombie NATO and US (only wins in movies). They have you.
Another way to view this is that it was the USSR that created the conditions for the rise of terrorism because of their invasion and occupation, for 10 years, of Afghanistan. The US, Pakistan and the Saudis certainly took advantage of this conflict to support and arm the various groups there but these groups already existed and were formed to confront the invaders and their minions.
Sergun is a bit disingenuous when he points his finger only at others, who certainly share some blame, when he and others in Russia today were involved in that bloodbath.
wayoutwest…what a trollish thing to say…Russia’s part in Afghanistan is decades over. And the jihadists there were trained by CIA…not Russia
Armed and trained. And money flowed to sustain them. Money always flows in, even if it is just payment for the heroin crop yield. Heroin was very big from the region.
In reality you are asking the “chicken and the egg” question, which came first. The Soviet “invasion” was because of terrorists expanding attacks in Afghanistan against the government there. Threatening the security of the Soviet Central Asian border.I’m not sure also, how their action could be called an invasion since the Afghan government invited them in the first place. But that is another issue. What is not a question is that the West took advantage of the Soviet “invasion” to massively spur the growth of terrorism in Afghanistan.Which led afterwards to the spread of Islamic terrorism Worldwide.
There is NO argument about this as brezenski on CNN said it was his proudest moment, Why even bother discussing it when the architect of it openly agrees he was the one who did it. There was even a movie to cause confusion about it blaming some Texans about how they were the ones who actually implemented it. I would think those guys were just minor players and would not have been able to carry about things of such magnitude on the scale they did. Including supplying heavy weapons which even the Pakistani army was envious of and did not want to give some donkey riders. And only the US government would have been capable of giving them surface to air missiles in those days. Even the photo of bin laden and brezenski showed laden showing off the latest American gifts on display.
And no the USSR had nothing to do with the creation of these terrorists which did not exist before. Even the Palestinians did not act like terrorists at the time. But seeing tactics used by the US trained forces, they also adopted such tactics which were also copied by the tamil tigers to a far greater degree.
I should have put the word ‘Terrorists’ in quotes because it is a brand used too often to label anyone who resists domination. The Russians certainly terrorized the people of Afghanistan so they just as the US have earned that designation also.
The people of Afghanistan, a very conservative religious people, did not support the PDPA coup government that came to power in 1978 with Soviet backing, They had good reasons besides the so called reforms instituted, the PDPA executed between 10-27,000 opponents in its first year in power.
Another minor fact is that the first thing the Soviets did after their intervention was to assassinate the then ruler Hafizulla Amin and have the KGB infiltrate the government to solidify their control.
There is no mystery why the Mujahedeen grew into a 250.000 strong force on a jihad to destroy the godless communist invaders and their minions in Kabul. The US and Saudis certainly supported these fighters through the Pakistani ISI for Cold War reasons but it was the people of Afghanistan who fought this war of liberation.
Liberation? the Taliban? followed by the US of A? very liberating.
PDPA killed political enemies; Taliban killed women and girls; USA killed wedding parties. Some choice.
Now USA is stuck there because Russia won’t let them use Russian territory to get their gear out, and they don’t want to leave nice air conditioned tent cities for the locals. But they’ll get fed up with not getting regular supplies coming in; just last week I saw an Afghan-deployed soldier’s mother complain he complained they don’t get hot breakfasts anymore, poor babies.
One of the things the afghans complain about is when the US leaves they throw out the ac’s and refrigerators, but they destroy the components under the guise that it can be used to make bombs. Making the equipment worthless.
Like Afghani’s cant buy ac’s or refrigerators.. The US even destroys buildings because they might end up being used by so called Taliban or undesirables. actually be used by the local leader who can hold on to it, but why quibble..
Go in destroy everything, then build everything and when you leave, destroy everything and leave.. Guess bringing democracy or religion can get to be expensive for the taxpayer and a bonanza to connected contractors.
I would like to add this piece to the puzzle of what the Russian hierarchy is telling us.
1. They have the Intel.
2. They are about to act on it in their own national interest and security.
3. They have issued several “warnings”, heads-up, hey you, stupid! to the command and control and financiers that the they are entering the war.
Putin never does not act if he warns. There are no hollow threats from Vlad.
Allowing this level military Intel officer to speak openly is equivalent to the red phone call to the other side.
The Chinese, the Chinese, the Chinese.
President Xi, the Chinese Dream, stability, and energy supplies, The Eurasian-New Silk Road.
All that is “face”. Chinese must protect face in their culture.
They know Russia knows what and how to handle the terror threat. They already are emulating the Russian tactics in their actions internally.
With the two giants working within SCO, we will see different war waged against ISIS.
It has been decided, agreed, planned and it will happen.
To speak in terms of investment: go short on Saudi Arabia and ISIS. Invest long on Eurasia.
“With the two giants working within SCO, we will see different war waged against ISIS.”
The 2 giants are fastracking Pakistan and Iran into the SCO. Both bring a wealth of tactical experience and data to the table but have lacked the weight to deal with international terrorism strategically. Their addition adds strategic depth to the 2 giants’ planning.
I sure hope you’re right Larchmonter…it’ll be like Chechnya…’We’ll kill them in the toilet” … Putin’s famous speech….
And then think of how the world will view Russia…not the politicians but the peoples … except unfortunately the American people. they will be sorry for the poor ISILs….
I’m so glad ISIL’s name is no longer ISIS…a beautiful Goddess of ancient Egypt.
“I’m so glad ISIL’s name is no longer ISIS…a beautiful Goddess of ancient Egypt.”
And more importantly, the name of one of my feline masters (or masteresses?).
If the US does not close the southern border gateway, they will be begging for Kadyrov’s Chechens from Russia Federation to come help them fight the jihadists.
Tragedy will hit as surely as the Twin Towers were hit.
There are so many independent players pledged to the Caliphate that no one controls all of them.
Imagine a mall attack like Kenya’s in a major city.
A smart tactician would pick St. Louis. The police there because of the Ferguson nonsense are afraid to act. They will think that the Feds will have to okay any action. By then, thousands could be dead.
Yes, the America public doesn’t know which end is up about anything any more.
No Man’s Land
You obviously have confused this site with freerepublic.com.
Russia and China are in no position to wage a slog against IS and afilliates. China is rife with problems (pollution, internal dissent, water location, etc) The new silk road and energy supplies…with none of the infrastructure built for it. A different war waged on ISIS, and a different war waged by ISIS. IS sympathisers (mostly chechen population) and Uighers in China + commercial transport gives IS the opportunity to retaliate or position in advance quickly if attacked. Doubtful it will be gory terrorist (didn’t work against the Russians) attacks. They would be better off repeating Chechen campaign against gazprom and rosneft (did work). Similar campaign can also work against China. They’re both giants if their energy infrastructure isn’t destroyed; if it is, like giants, they fall hard.
It won’t be easy, but it has to happen and these public statements make it clear that it’s about to begin.
The “slog” will be part “Kill them in the toilet”, part regular military hits on strong points, part diplomatic activity with ISIS sponsors, part financial control. The new Russian-Chinese bank settlement system may be part of the strategy.
I suggest that the yet-to-be-built infrastructure is also part of the strategy – employing 1000s building bridges, waterworks, railways removes them from ISIS’ recruitment pool, and also diminishes ISIS’ passive support in the population. In any case, good old fashioned physical labor works wonders on young hotheads (did on me!) and gives them a stake in building a society. No-one bombs their own house, especially if he built it.
The proliferation of the “US supports IS” nonsense is an attack against IS recruitment, and also makes the US look even worse. Any military involvement against them will likely increase IS volunteers. Again, the Chechen economic attack against gazprom and rosneft will likely be one of the templates for which IS will use against BRICS. Reduced fuel and gas imports and cascading power blackouts can bring any industrial nation state to its knees. That is their achilles heel unless they decentralize their infrastructure (unlikely.)
Give them jobs to reduce IS influence? lol. I’m going to go out on a limb here and assume that you were not raised in a madrassa setting and are not a religious zealot. This is the audience that IS is looking for, and they also encourage self activating lone wolfs. Large parts of IS are volunteers. So send them with in striking distance of emerging critical infrastructure projects and pay them (finance their attacks). What could possibly go wrong? lol
Not so. ISIS survives because it gets daily sustenance from its main sponsors, Saudi Arabia and Qatar. Russia/China will only need to destroy the hornet’s nest and head of the hydra inside those nations, and if the US interferes in a bid to protect them, then it will be world war. Once the decision is made though, Russia/China won’t back down till this evil is destroyed. Its that simple.
I hope you are right, but Putin did give a hollow protection to the Donbass. He wasn’t going to let the crazies in Kiev kill women and children, or something like that.
One thing that has to be kept in mind is that Russian policy makers haven’t wanted to get into a fight where brute force is the deciding factor. They had no choice in Chechnya, but that was inside their own country. Attacking important things in other countries is a step they have tried to avoid. If the Russians blow something up in Qatar or KSA, what would stop the West from doing the same inside Russia?
Now here’s an interesting twist:
ISIL Complains Recruitment Down Due to ‘Conspiracy Theories’
03:13 23.05.2015(updated 07:19 23.05.2015) Get short URL
In the latest issue of its propaganda magazine, the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS) terror group complains they are losing recruits because of supposed “conspiracy theories” tied to the West.
the magazine also features an article in which it warns about Western and infidel-backed “conspiracy theories.”
Entitled “Conspiracy Theory Shirk [sin],” the article implies that the group’s fighters have become delusional because of what it claims to be conspiracy theories about IS being a puppet for Western intelligence.
They should hire Chomsky to debunk all those evil ISIL=western (Israeli-American) tool conspiracies. I’m sure he’d be game, given his past role in this regarding 9/11 and the JFK murder. :D
Chomsky is amazing and wonderful — but he’s earth-bound in some ways, and has difficulty in trying to fly, or cross the great water (symbol of consciousness, BTW, for those who haven’t run into it before). Maybe all those years with zionist parents and in US academia?
The zionist and American academia influences are no doubt a part of it, but Chomsky’s way at looking at history is fundamentally flawed from an analysis standpoint. Some very useful perspective about this:
Michael Parenti: THE JFK ASSASSINATION II: CONSPIRACY PHOBIA ON THE LEFT
Good article that finally highlights the purpose of conspiracy theories and their creators. They are inherently pro-American regime because they all have one thing in common: they make the regime appear powerful and omniscient when it is in fact a corrupt festering ineffective institution (art of war: appear strong when weak). It doesn’t matter how many security breaches, attacks, disasters of all kinds occur that highlight the collapsing American state; the pro-US regime conspiracy theorists ignore it or call it a false flag (a favorite) with no evidence (or cherry picked) to top it off. It’s practically an industry at this point. This is done to reduce the possibility of any and all resistance (appears to be working against IS).
A genuine anti-regime media outlet will focus on the regime’s vulnerabilities, so as to get people to believe that the regime is weak and can be defeated (French resistance). Could you imagine the disastrous results to French underground newspapers had they followed the pro-US conspriacy theory narrative? Every sabotage attack against Nazi infrastruture would be a false flag. Every drive by shooting would be an SS black op designed to take away nonexistent freedoms. Every uprising would be scoffed at because “they burn down their own neighborhoods.” And every attack against nazi vehicles would be futile, since they’ll just be replaced. Glad that French didn’t do that.
The basis of the American regime’s security apparatus is not its institutions; it is its self-activating population (boston marathon attack aftermath. Cops chase their tails. Bomber gets caught by a guy smoking a cigarette). Every prevented attack has been stopped by someone with a phone, rarely security state. The most effective part about the conspiracy theorists is that they really do not like the US-regime, yet their combined efforts strengthen it considerably. It is an ongoing demoralization campaign to contain resistance and acts as a pressure relief valve (group think social club).
@This man is obviously a crazy conspiracy theorist
On the contrary, he does not go far enough.
The origins of ISIS are in the creation of the Muslim Brotherhood by the British Intelligence Service in 1925 and of Hizb ut-Tahrir (Arabic: حزب التحرير Ḥizb at-Taḥrīr; Party of Liberation), the international pan-Islamic political organization in 1953, ostensibly “anti-Zionist” as a smoke screen. They are commonly associated with the goal of all Muslim countries unifying as an Islamic state or caliphate ruled by Islamic law (sharia) and with a caliph head of state elected by Muslims, but lead from behind by the Zionists they pretend to fight against.
Oh wow I am waiting for the negatives for Stanley Kubrick’s movie Neil Armstrong on the moon to show up any second now. Yes we know they went to the moon, but no man has ever stepped on the moon yet and it is not even feasible 50 years later. They fooled the soviets by sending a space craft and then giving away fake moon rocks which were proven to be fake. It would be interesting to see how they ever got the moon buggy out and about.
Or maybe how they were able to hit the pentagon with a giant plane.. And the US is still touting missile defense against nuclear weapons when they cant even defend their most important defense installation from a passenger plane?
Ah the dirty laundry that comes out when the going gets tough.
“Or maybe how they were able to hit the pentagon with a giant plane.. And the US is still touting missile defense against nuclear weapons when they cant even defend their most important defense installation from a passenger plane?”
Every successful attack or security breach states the obvious: they are unable to defend themselves. Snowdens actions is one of the most spectacular instances of this fact. He simply walked into work, stole the US regime’s family jewels, and walked out. Security forces chase their tails. His information leaks guarantee the collapse of American IT companies (billions in losses have already occured).
Any conspiracy narrative assumes that the US security apparatus is capable of defending itself (it sometimes makes mistakes and does; broken clock). Nothing can be further from the truth, and the exceptions prove this rule.
If/when Russia and China start rolling up ISIS, they will be portrayed in the western media as expansionist, empire building, ect.
The scene for a solid split between east and west, with the nonaligned countries in between in chaos.
In the SCS, China has written records going back to the 1200s of the Spratly islands being part of China, losing control of them for a short period through the wars with Japan. China is now portrayed as aggressive and expansionist to set the western thought for the future (similar to what happened to Russia over Crimea).
A very odd refugee migration has just occurred. Several thousand Bangladeshi, and Rohingya boat people just hit the shores of Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, with reportedly another 7000 or so still at sea.
When ever there is suddenly a large number of refugees/boat people it can always be linked to war, an upsurge in violence somewhere or famine. Not so this time. The only reason for this upsurge seems to be the sudden availability of large numbers of boats.
The other things that was very odd for refugee movements in this area was the US taking an interest and Gambia of all places announcing they would take the refugees in as they were all muslims.
Setting the scene for future movement of ISIS employees to the area?
“It happens quite often that actions of Washington and the West in general in various regions of the world contribute to creation of serious problems, including drug trafficking, religious extremism and terrorism, after which Washington heroically mobilizes the international community to neutralize the problems.”
Except they don’t. The Americans were crushed in Iraq (key allies refused to take part, the rest made a feeble effort) and their puppet armies are being crushed right now. They are currently chasing their tails in Iraq while Afghani resistance destroys ANA, and absorbs (green on blue killings)
“In general, under the slogan of struggle for ‘pure Islam’, international terrorism is becoming a form of transnational crime. In fact, it has become a lucrative business with capital turnover running into billions, with drug trafficking, hostage taking, smuggling weapons and precious metals.
In search of additional sources of funding, jihadists purposefully develop links with nationalist organizations, pirates and separatists.”
GRU admits IS has establishes ties with non state entities, part of global effort to undermine and profit off of nation state decline. GRU admits they are far more of a business (with cheap overhead) than a 20th century style organization waiting for sponsors. If it appears they are being funded by nation states, it is likely as a result of their enterprises (hostage taking, ransoms).
Eisenhower invited the most radical Islamic scholars to the White House in 1953. From then on, Islamism was supported in America’s fight for Israel and against pan-Arabism and the sovereignty of Arab/Muslim states. Divide and conquer.
IF … Russia and President Putin will allow President Assad and its Allies in SYRIA to fall
