Maybe it’s worked in Russia, but a military operation in Ukraine based on “denazification” has been a total public relations disaster everywhere else. Quite simply: Russia should have known that the use of the word “Nazi” totally shuts down any discussion in the West. Russia is waging a new type of military operation but they lazily or foolishly thought that “denazification” was a new enough concept to base its justification around for non-Russians — they have paid a price of total intellectual defeat so far in the battle for hearts and minds.
They could have known it was coming – I wrote about this issue just two weeks prior to the start of the Ukraine operation, in an article on France’s elections titled, France’s conservatives cry out for National Socialism – Zemmour’s response?:
“Ah, old Adolf – we can’t bring him up in the West, can we?
Many have heard of Godwin’s Law, or the rule of Nazi analogies: an Internet adage asserting that as an online discussion grows longer (regardless of topic or scope), the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Adolf Hitler approaches. However, an important corollary is that whenever someone compares someone or something to Nazism – that person has lost the argument and/or the argument is summarily over.
Essentially, the world is to accept that all discussions of Western politics cannot discuss the anti-Western Liberalism ideology which was German Nazism.”
Yes, Russia should have accepted that in February. Practically nobody west of the Oder River understood what Moscow meant by “denazification”, and they still don’t after a month of Russian explanations.
Russia’s military operation has made much harder by failing to recognise the iron Western cultural reality of Godwin’s Law, and the reality that the West only associates Nazis with anti-Semitism and – not at all! – with Russophobia, despite the 20+ million Russian deaths at the hands of the Germanic Nazis.
This is how iron that law is: Political science PhD holders have responded to me with, “But… Ukraine’s president is Jewish – how can there be Nazis?” If you cannot even get Western political science PhD holders to see where you are coming from – even remotely – you have zero chance to get the average Westerner to understand you.
Thus it’s a total, ongoing public relations catastrophe.
It’s not an easy problem to fix
It’s such a huge problem I actually have to discuss it in detail in my new book on the Yellow Vests, in a chapter titled: “Where the West is stuck: The fascism of the 1930s and the ‘fascism’ of the 2020s”. The West is stuck in misunderstanding what fascism is, and in 2022 Russia has not solved this problem; they have maybe even made it worse?!
It’s not an easy problem to fix, but in April 2014 I must say that I was farther along than Russia is in 2022 – well, at least I tried to propose some solution in a column for PressTV titled, “Ukraine: The Rise of the ‘Nalis’”. I can’t find a link for it anywhere – I’d complain about how Iran’s PressTV has been so deplatformed but – thanks in part to the awful Russian public relations campaign – Russia has now become even more deplatformed than us, wow! If someone finds a link, great, but these highlights show the idea still holds up: the combination of rabid Nationalism and far-right Liberalism (in economics, politics and in anti-socialism) is still the problem in Ukraine. The column began:
“The combination of ultra-nationalists and ultra-liberals who have overthrown the Ukrainian government is indicative of a new type of political party in the region: National Liberals, or ‘Nalis’. They are to be differentiated from ‘Nazis’ – National Socialists – only by the economic ideology of liberalism (otherwise known as free-market capitalism).
But it is a mistake to call the protesters in Ukraine “Nazis”. Yes, at Maidan Square there was plenty of footage taken of neo-Nazis, fascists, violent anarchists and other types who showed up to a political protest in camouflage and armed with a firearm. But they are actually “Nalis” – National Liberals.
That’s why not all of Ukraine’s protesters should be called Nalis: There are true progressives who were calling for legal, constitutional changes to the corrupt Yanukovych government. Unfortunately, they have been outgunned by the Nalis, who have deposed a president unconstitutionally, voted to ban the Russian language and whose violent tactics have created the real possibility of civil war.
Many of these people are true Nalis: economic nationalists who do not even want to join the EU.
But the moneyed set of the Nalis certainly do. They want to work with the US and the EU to institute IMF-led austerity reforms. They want to reduce pensions, reduce government subsidies on things like heat, reduce wages and increase corporate protections to foster a capitalist society. All you need to do is look at their proposals and it’s clear: they want free market liberalism…but of course for the benefit of themselves and the other moneyed Nalis.
Two things are certain: Western politicians will back the Nalis to the hilt. Of course, always putting the best interest of the EU or US or Germany (or many others) well-before the interests of the Ukrainian people.
And two: The Western media, passionately pro-Nali and just as passionately anti-Russian and anti-Putin, will also be unquestioningly backing the Nalis until the bitter end.”
Did “Nali” catch on? No, but did Russia come up with anything better?
Are they even strenuously pushing the term “Ukrainian Civil War”, which is no longer just a “possibility” but today’s reality, in my estimation?
I understand how Russians would use “Nazism” synonymously with “Russophobia”, just I understand how Jews would use “Nazism” interchangeably with “anti-Semitism”, but clearly most Westerners do not understand the former and only the latter. Given that the “Nalis” have been around since 2014, and given that the US has used shameless Russophobia to distract from the political failures of the two mainstream parties in their 2016 election, I’m surprised that Russia couldn’t come up with a better way to express “pathological and murderous hatred towards Russia”?
“Anti-Russianism”, “Russophobic paramilitaries”, “Nalis” – somebody better come up with something better than “denazification” because it takes more than hating Russians or Jews to make a Nazi, and because “denazification” has clearly not worked. If they don’t come up with something – anything – other than “denazification” they will never explain the situation in Ukraine correctly. Take Nali, or improve upon Nali, but come up with something to increase diplomatic understanding.
However, Russia needs to not only admit they got it wrong, but they need to get at the root of why they got it wrong, and this is actually much harder for Russia.
Russians need to ask why they get – as their failed PR campaign proves – “Nazi” as wrong as the West does
It’s not really that the times have changed and “Nazi” is outdated – it’s that “Nazi” was never accurate to begin with in Ukraine, as I wrote back in 2014.
Racism or xenophobia – the hating of Russia – isn’t enough to make one a Nazi, merely a racist. Germanic Nazism had political and economic components, and to ignore them is only ignorance and only causes more ignorance. The West only associates Nazis with anti-Semitism, and that’s foolish, but some Russians think associating Nazis with anti-Russianism is a complete picture, and that is just as foolish. Incorrectly believing that it does is to totally ignore the economic factor, and the factor of political structure, and to merely make ethnic/identity politics the only factor – it is also to lay the foundation for total PR failure outside of Russia, and that cannot be denied.
The obvious difference is that Russia is on the right side of being against the “Nalis”, but… they don’t even know what that means, or what being anti-Nail implies for their society going forward – and the implications are revolutionary-big.
The Western and Russian elite leadership both misuse “Nazi” because it serves them – cui bono applies here too.
Both Russian and Western elites do not want to seriously talk about the economic/political aspects of socialism – of any variety – whatsoever. This is because post-1991 both regions’ elites began to wrongly take for granted that Socialist Democracy is a failure (China has emphatically disproven this, thankfully) and thus Russia adopted many aspects of what I term “Western Liberal Democracy”. I can list a half-dozen synonyms: liberalism, neoliberalism, ultra-liberalism, English parliamentarian oligarchy, Western democracy, Nali-ism, etc. It all comes down to the same thing: liberalism, which is the ideology that emerged after the downfall of absolute monarchy in 1789 and before the establishment of socialist democracy in 1917.
The West is fighting for Western Liberal Democracy, and thus they do not permit honest discussion and honest critiques of Western Liberal Democracy. This explains why there is no admission regarding the historical reality that Nazism and 1930s European fascism won power precisely because so many people realised that Western Liberal Democracy was nothing but awful oligarchy. Most of Russia does not understand this either – not since 1991 – and thus they are stuck between aping Western Liberal Democracy and rejecting Socialist Democracy.
Putin definitely doesn’t want to talk about socialism honestly – or even acknowledge its achievements in Russia – because socialists are not just an ideological rival but an actual political one, unlike in the West: The Communist Party is the main opposition party in Russian parliament. Clearly, Western Liberal Democracy still has plenty of detractors in Russia.
But Putin is thus at an absurd and contradictory place in his political outlook: He wants to oppose Western Liberal Democracy’s surprising counter-attack on Russia with… more Western Liberal Democracy in Russia? It’s illogical, and thus it can’t work, and here’s why:
Putin is essentially saying that he wants Russia to take the Iranian road of taking total sanctions war head-on, but… without the influence of 1917? It won’t work. In 1979 Iranian political leaders were aware of Marxism, Leninism and Maoism, and they were also aware that Western Liberal Democracy was an awful economic and political model, and as a result they nationalised the economy to a degree only surpassed by North Korea and (maybe, I contest) Cuba – that’s the only way to beat sanctions!
What Russia is proposing in response to the Western counter-attack is truly radical for them in the sense that it is a total overturning of the economic and political choices of Western Liberal Democracy, and thus of many Russian choices post-1991. I don’t think Russia realizes how radical what they are proposing to do in response to sanctions really is, and how much it requires a complete rethink in political terms and interpretations of history – is Putin willing to embrace the USSR’s political and economic past?
What’s certain is that if Russia wants true sovereignty and independence as a response to the Western sanctions war – if they want to follow the Iranian road, as I first posited here, in an article which deserves way more attention, given that Russia now has 54% more sanctions than the previously most sanctioned country, Iran — then they must realise that they cannot possibly achieve such goals via Western Liberal Democratic methods, as WLD is anti-sovereignty and pro-1%er globalist class warfare.
Yes, the EU isn’t sanctioning Russian fossil fuels, but France just announced they want no more Russian gas by 2027. The EU sanctions and what they portend are serious.
The Iranian road led to sovereignty – and maybe even an actually-signed JCPOA which would be more proof its correct choices – because Iran rests on totally different (i.e. revolutionary) economic power and political power structures than those of Western Liberal Democracy. Russia cannot defeat a sanctions campaign with Western Liberal Democratic structures – it’s a system geared to protect oligarchs, of course.
Does Russia have oligarchs? Of course, to Western Liberal Democrats west of Russia “oligarchs” only exist in Russia, never in the West – absurdly and falsely. Listening to Westerners, “oligarchs” must only be a region in Siberia, perhaps? But oligarchs are not going to help counter sanctions; they are not going to accept mass nationalisations; they are not going to accept price controls, profit limitations, central planning, etc. and etc. and etc.
If Russia continues to face off with the West a la Iran they can either have a revolution in thinking or they can fail. Western Liberal Democracy will not save them, as Russians were told in 1991.
Perhaps Putin is just bluffing about his totally anti-capitalist response to the Western sanction war? Or perhaps it’s truly a new world, with China-Russia-Iran leading the way?
But the fact that no one in the West can easily grasp Russia’s intellectual campaign for the war indicates a major problem. Russia needs to think and talk honestly about political terms, and I recommend starting with “denazification”. This will, I think, necessarily take them into bigger issues, such as how a “bring on your sanctions” stance necessarily reacquires very revolutionary (or perhaps return-to-revolutionary, for Russia) changes.
Should Russia fail to realise this, it may reveal that they are as intellectually stuck as the West: If the conflict in Ukraine is only about Russia-hating, then they have succumbed to the same identity politics worldview of the West – they have made “race” the end-all be-all of their political-economic discourse. It will be proof that they have ignored the class warfare lens, the imperialist lens and 1979’s “maybe we do need some spiritual morality in our socioeconomic policies?” lens. These are all lenses which came around between 1917-1991, which current Russian leadership has rather disavowed.
These are strong, serious ideas, but they are motivated by the catastrophic failure of the “denazification” idea outside of Russia, which seems like thus far the biggest failure in Russian planning for their military operation.

PR (propaganda) is a tool to align the population with the goals of those that propagandise. It does not win wars.
I disagree. It is finally time to use Nazi for real life Nazi activities rather then as a generic insult for somehow authoritarian policies. It is hard to describe Azov and other ultra nationalists as other then nazi, because they act just like WW2 German Nazis. It is time for the West to realize that Nato is a Fascist lite organization and it is no surprise that real dyed in the wool Nazis want to join it.
They ARE Nazis. Problem is no one in the West believes this or they believe its just a tiny minority. Or they say all the other countries have Nazis too. Which is true, but they don’t have them all through the government and they don’t have whole battalions of them in the army!
I also disagree. Of course nobody will call themselves as nazis, but they act like nazis. See for yourself in the bloody history of nazis. Go back and see what happened 1941-1945. The history repeat itself. Why is it that a national hero of Ukraine is Bandera? He got a full day for himself. A national day of a hero. Most of the strong power in Ukraine is nazis. Of course. The german nazis had two purposes and that is two eliminate jews and russians. Today it’s only the russian left. All of the jews got to find a way to Israel. I’m sure if there was a massive population of jews they would kill them two.So I fully agree that has to be a operation of denazifiering as well. That’s no other way. The whole west is full of nazis and act like nazi. So don’t come to me and say another thing.
Indeed, “De-Nazification” was a horrible term that made no sense in the west and elsewhere. Perhaps If Russia had used the slogan “Elimination of European Terrorism” or even “De-Terrorization”, it might have made quicker sense to the public and the world. Still, a “public relations catastrophe” as the good author puts it, is not going to impede the total and on-going accomplishments of Russian plans and aims in Ukraine. If there is to be a disaster for Russia, let it be then in this fraudulent of western fields – PUBLIC RELATIONS.
No. Better to call a spade a spade.
If you need to use euphamisms then you need to seriously think why you need to do so.
Better to call a spade a spade? OK but some people don’t even know and can’t imagine how there can be NAZI’s in Ukraine. They are like what NAZI’s? Isn’t Zelensky Jewish? How does he tolerate NAZI’s in Ukraine then?
“that made no sense in the west and elsewhere”
Actually, that’s the point. While the term was unintelligble to the west, it made perfect sense for the russians, who, unlike the west, tend to remember their history with clarity and how they suffered as nation at the hands of the original Nazis (those ukros – they’re just pale shadow).
And for Vladimir Vladimirovitch and his team this is what matters most – the russian people and their well-being. At this point VVP and his team couldn’t care less how the western MSMs portray them, or what the western public thinks about them.
I don’t think they even care what the west thinks neither were they targeting them,
They told the simple truth , Though I don’t have the Russian experience with nazis, I l heard it and rejected the western narrative.
zone A countries have no concept of truth (besides individuals in them),
So any failure is on them not the truth teller.
I understand because I sought understanding.
LinkedIn the so called professional platform is filled with debunked propaganda now (heroes of Gilligans island and such)
I have posted the truth there and …… crickets.
The human race is now dividing along these lines as it should be.
The sanction heat is turning up and my western brethren will be forced to choose, no more indifference, no more fence sitting.
Cute. The author of this article seriously believes this is about arguments, not sheer raw power to dominate public information and surpress all opposing narratives. Nope, nothing to do with that – it must be the arguments that are ineffective. Suuure.
The only people that matter to Putin are Russians and what they think. He knows the PR war with the west
Is just a fools errand. All the People being released from the oppressive Azov and other grouping in Mariupol,
now in their thousands will be speaking to Russians about their experiences over the last eight years, the
Russian people will be very keen to hear what they have to say,and a determined rage will be the end result
of these revelations,by contrast Westerners will have absolutely no interest in what those who have suffered
under the rule of these despots have to say.
I agree with you
Why does anyone in Russia still care what they think at CNN or on “Elona” Musks twitter account ? “denazification” is a worthy enterprise an an honest one…i am assuming they mean it in Moscow. They KNOW they are lying in the US department of state, the White house knows it is lying and everyone at the pentagon knows it also.. Russia, especially its leaders should stick closely to the truth..there is no honest way to soft sell brutal fascism. It is what it is. If Russian leaders do not intend to “denazify” the Ukraine (which urgently needs it) then indeed they should not use the phrase, but if the mean it – and I pray they do – no other verbiage is sufficient. Whatever they think at CNN , The Ukrainian fascists and their NATO backers CAN NOT sink Russian ships with fake news. They should not talk around this and no one should advise them to. There will be too much Nazism and criminality left over in the world even if the Ukraine is purged of it. Israel should take note
Spot on: “Russia cannot defeat a sanctions campaign with Western Liberal Democratic structures – it’s a system geared to protect oligarchs, of course”.
It is an angle that is going to be disputed, also on this site, which has many conservative readers. But it is a fact. You may use any name for needed political structural changes, but if Russia is going to be thrown out of club of rich liberal Western countries, it will have to choose other economic path. This path of liberal, globalist, relatively low tax country with scant social welfare, they have now, is difficult to sustain if you are basically thrown out of world liberal trade financial system. Russian internal policies have been made to mesh Russia with West. It is difficult to keep social cohesion and trust between different strata of society in such liberal system- that is needed when faced with war and enormous pressure from Western bloc. I am positively surprised by Russian patriotism regarding country has enormous social differences.
Of course, Russia has some basis for that new system. Strong state companies, especially in armaments sector. But it has to be improved. And Russian oligarchs are being persecuted in West, there is no place anymore for them to run with their money. Now they are weakened and time is ripe for Russia to make new social contract with them. And rein them in and force them to invest in lacking domestic production capabilities.
Public relations, at the end of the day, are noise and fiction that cannot alter decisions. In contrast, faith and conviction remain the key to victory.
It’s obvious no PR could beat decades long brainwashing of the western public. And I believe Russians know this fully. So denazification must be aimed at russian troops and russian public and debates outside of Russia/Ukraine about correctness of the term are meaningless.
I also failed to grasp it’s meaning the day the war started. First it’s up to Ukraine to denazify itself. Second it’s obvious that the most dangerous nazis will hide somewhere or flee the country. Third we know from Obama’s drone wars that you can’t make the population like you by dropping bombs on their heads. You just create new militants in the process. Many moderate Ukrainians will be new Russia haters when this ends. Maybe not Azov style nazis, but it doesn’t really matter. And no amount of careful use of weapons can change the fact.
I completely disagree with the write. Putin is describing exactly what it is and we should not pull punches even in this woke world. I agree with what has already been said by a number of contributors that it would not matter what VVP said he would be demonized just the same so there is no point sugar coating anything. As they say. If it walks like Nazi, talks like a Nazi and acts like a Nazi it definitely is a Nazi!
I just don’t think they care.
For Russia, that’s what freedom looks like.
The author cannot define the term “denazification”. And I can’t understand what the term “PR disaster” means. “PR disaster” is an evaluative concept with an unclear scope and content.
What kind of “PR disaster” is this? By what specific signs can you determine whether there is already a “PR disaster”, or not yet? By the emotions of despondency and optimism that change in a person once every half hour?
Isn’t this a “complete intellectual defeat” in the author’s battle for readers’ attention? :)
I will share a machine translation of an interesting point of view on the denazification process that seemed to me:
“How will denazification take place and why will it work even on a zombie society on both banks of the Dnieper?
To do this, it is necessary to understand how the system of managing the discontent of society works. Schematically.
I will explain one point that, in my opinion, most ordinary people do not understand. Well, they just didn’t need it–they weren’t interested.
People in any society are divided into three very different groups. The first is the smallest – those who are active and can lead others.
The second is those who are ready to connect and be active. It’s bigger, but it’s not too big either.
And the third is “don’t care”, who don’t care at all. Most of them.
A well-organized state has three structures aimed at these three groups.
THE FIRST GROUP INCLUDES political structures. Active people from the first group are offered to join the government in various roles. To someone – to come directly to the power. Someone should play the role of a pocket opposition, i.e. show real frontage, but within a controlled framework and synchronously with the general plan of the country’s leadership.
If political methods do not work, then the first group includes “security forces of selective action” – special services.
It is important to understand that the special services of the whole world have the same set of methods. And it doesn’t matter if it’s the NKVD, the KGB, the FBI or the SBU. The set of methods is still one, because it is rooted in two circumstances – human psychology and technical equipment.
Once again: arsenal “to the maximum” is one for everyone. It’s just that, as a rule, not all of it is used. But exactly that “as a rule”, and not absolutely.
That is, from society to society, only the range of methods allowed “at the moment” to the special services changes. Moreover, within the same society, this range may be different at different times. For example, under martial law, the range of permitted methods expands dramatically.
The “withdrawal from circulation” of people of the first group leads to the decapitation of the protest. You can “withdraw” a person in different ways: from the offer of a lucrative job on the other side of the globe, to the threat of opening compromising material or even sometimes disappearing without a trace.
The SECOND GROUP employs “law enforcement officers of indiscriminate action” – police structures, in the broad sense of the word. I.e., from “cosmonauts” of the riot police or its analogues, to vigilantes with armbands on their sleeves.
The task of the “security forces of indiscriminate action” is to suppress the will of the participants of the second group to continue their activity. Someone understands already from the first admin, and someone goes to sew mittens. But in general, this is simply a suppression of the will to continue or, in extreme cases, physical withdrawal from society for a long time.
TV works with the THIRD GROUP, also in the broad sense of the word – including the media, bloggers, memasics, and so on. It works very successfully – which we also observe in any country, even in Ukraine, even in Canada.
If you approach the denazification process from these positions– it will become obvious to you to whom what efforts should be made so that everything starts working as planned. No options.
Options appear only when there is a split in the elites. There is such a split – there will be a Maidan. There is no such split – there will be Lukashenka with a machine gun.
In a quiet period, the role of non-violent methods increases. In a turbulent period, the role of the security forces increases. Therefore, the same Navalny rode for a long time (and even went abroad under probation in a criminal case), but by the time the operation began in Ukraine, he was already a deep-seated extremist”.
A source: https://yushchuk.livejournal.com/1830499.html
I think that from a legal point of view, the purpose of the operation is to combat extremism in the meaning given to this term in the Russian Federal Law No. 114-FZ of July 25, 2002.
But the mention of extremism would not cause a strong emotional response in the Russian people.
In order for people to be ready to fight, vital values must be affected. Russian people, by virtue of patriotic upbringing, associate the term Nazism with a threat to security on the example of the Second World War.
It seems to me like denazification is needed not just for Ukraine but for Europe and US too.
It is easy to forget that US/EU are the backers and financiers of the Nazis in Ukraine. Without this backing we wouldn’t be where we are.
I don’t think the media war can be won, the brain washing is so massive. But that is the west, not the whole world.
The social form is always a consequence of the moral idea (spiritual growth). Russia(ans) have understood where is the problem/ sickness of the west, now they have to gather to protect that knowledge. They do need social changes, but they will happen organically and I guess through trial and error.
IMHO not your strongest effort ever, sir.
I strongly disagreee with the author. His article argues in favour of flogging a dead horse. You cannot win a psyops war in the west when they cancel russia in the west including russian media, and when they pump endless anti russian pro ukrianian propaganda to western audiences. Russia has power over the narrative in russia only and influence of the same with its allies. That is where russia has been focussing its attention, and rightly so. Who cares if the french or US or canadian people agree or disagree with Putin. He doesnt represent them and they dont support him. He is not required to answer to them, but he does need to explain it to the Russians which he did and im sure they all understood the reasons for this operation.
To say that there are no nazis in ukraine is to discredit yourself and everything else that you say or have ever said. I suppose the author has been hibernating in a cave for the past 8 years. He mus have missed all the nazi marches in ukraine. Finally, just becuase PhDs in political science dont understand current events doesnt mean that the rest of us dont. Just because someone has a PhD in political science doesnt actually mean they understand their subject, just like someone who is a military general doesnt mean that they are actually skillfull and knowledgeable about their profession. They could be imbeciles.
In my opinion the author is not someone who ‘thinks’. His article failed in the first sentense “Maybe it’s worked in Russia”. Meaning that he was expecting it to work in the west. It doesnt matter how hard the russians try their point of view will not be disclosed to western audiences. Thats a given! Why on earth would the west give themselves compitition for the narrative in their own backyard. No, the easy answer is to ban anything that presents the other point of view, the truth which is why they banned RT and Sputnik and at the same time they will continue spreading propaganda to russians using the western media in russia
what matters most are the actions on the ground. Everything else is noise
It may be bad for the propaganda war, but the facts support the Russian claim that Nazi thugs run Ukrainian security policy. For their own people, the fact the Ukrainian regime is employing Nazis is significant and well-known. The Russians can’t climb down no matter what or it leads to a Nazi triumph. That the west has problems calling real Nazis Nazis is a problem which perhaps has to be accepted, perhaps because of the partial Nazification of the west, in some instances, surprisingly, particularly in the Jewish community with the exception naturally that they oppose liquidating themselves.
The assumptions been made by Saker and others regarding the PR disaster by the Russian government is that, if Russia had done a better PR, there may have been support from citizens of the West. I honestly think this is wishful thinking because I media is completely controlled or in bed with the government. Any PR by Russia could have been easily removed or debunked. There is no serious platform to air Russia’s PR.
Those who are interested in seeking alternative explanations are already doing so and hence no significant change would have happened even with sophisticated PR campaign by Russia.
As an African with a “low IQ” , I seriously struggle to understand how people of the West can swallow hook line sinker the kind of propaganda seen on the MSM. Maybe a low IQ is not so low after all.
Where I think Russia didn’t do so well was shielding herself from DoDs and fully controlling her I Internet infrastructure from grounds up. I think there is a lot to learn from the Chinese.
But above all, buying the minds and heart of the general population of the Russian people is quite more strategic than any PR that will most likely would have failed. And they did a good job of that.
Let’s hope this war end soon because the civilians suffer most in any war. Peace to the world
To Hani, to all: Ignore the PR (unwinnable in Zone A, won by default in Zone B), win the physical war, dictate the peace, write the victor’s history.
I disagree its a PR disaster: If you know see and understand (as Russians surely do) the total hysteria resulting from Russia’s operation then you know the scale of the Nazi problem.
The PR was is just cosmetics, it cannot work in the long term. Its a knee jerk reaction which in fact has exposed the moral corruption of the west. Just like the silly sanctions (shoot yourself in one foot) now we have a culture was (shoot yourself in the other foot just to be sure) which cannot be won in the long run.
Once the ‘west’ starts hurting (and the pain is coming) nobody will give 2 sh1ts about denazification or any other rational. Politicians will be blamed regardless of the current PR…not sure if that is a winning strategy.
Give credit where credit is due. The U$ dominates world thinking because it captured 20th century cultural media: movies, books, magazines, radio, TV, cornflakes, fast food fashion. The U$ also dominates the internet — the greatest cultural medium since the invention of the printing press. Most of this dominance rests on the U$ democratic ethos: culture for the average man; this gives the U$ the biggest market share of culture.
Rest of the World (West Eurasia, East Eurasia, Middle Eurasia, Africa and South America) are still playing catchup. They have no dominant internet, no dominant microchip industry, no dominant AI industry, no dominant video industry, no equivalent to Time Magazine or Readers Digest (“So that he who runs may read”).
Except for China, which seems to have a genuine deep rooted popular culture, and perhaps one that is only valid in China? Or Russia? Or perhaps for Ramin’s Iran which seems to have won the information war within its West EurAsian environment as well as within Iran itself.
In war, the main discursive objective is to keep the morale of the people high. Convincing other countries is not a priority. The Russian people strongly support the operation in Ukraine.
Estamos jodidos Pepe. Muy buen comentario. Soy yoni reinon. Buscame en redes y hablamos. Somos la voz que predica en el desierto.
Sorry Ramin… just me from the south seas, but I really struggled to get past the first paragraph.
These two premises appeared to be the basis of the article and I cannot agree with either of them …
#1 “Quite simply: Russia should have known that the use of the word “Nazi” totally shuts down any discussion in the West.”
…well not for me it doesn’t… indeed if you have any knowledge of the history of the OUN, its formation in 1929, and it’s various offshoots who have been terrorising the Ukrainian territory now for 93 years, then the words Nazi and Neo-Nazi are absolutely justified.
#2 “Russia is waging a new type of military operation but they lazily or foolishly thought that “denazification” was a new enough concept to base its justification around for non-Russians…
… how on earth could “denazification” be deemed a new concept. Indeed it should be a cause that unites the entire world. To my way of thinking there is absolutely nothing to lose from using the word Nazi when it is completely justified.
If any of you out there are having difficulty understanding that the RF is doing humanity a huge favour, and at the same time threatening the very existence of Mr Global and his thieving global banking cartel, then I would strongly suggest you watch the doco. Ukraine On Fire – by Oliver Stone
This gives the historical background right back to the formation of the OUN in 1929. The Organisation of Ukrainian Nationalists grew out of WW1 and it became firmly established in Ukraine with Stepan Bandera and other genocidal lunatics. This small percentage of the Ukrainian population has been murdering and terrorising innocent people now for nearly a century.
To me, it shows a fundamental misunderstanding of the history of the situation on the ground. These Nazis continue to threaten the security of all of Europe and Eurasia… actually when it comes down to it, these lunatics with the help of the U$ and NATO, are now an existential threat to our entire species.
Remember too that this film was made by a Historian born in New York! This guy is so courageous and truthful it actually beggars belief for me to believe that the CIA has never taken him out.
Needless to say, because this film contains so many uncomfortable truths, Google and DuckDuckGo won’t find it for you as a shared link…. as such there is no point in me including a link. This is an attempt by Big-tech [another tentacle of Mr Global] to hobble information that gives an accurate historical reason for why this cleanup by the RF of this scum is so absolutely vital.
You will only find it by typing the key words into your search. PLEASE INVEST 90 MINUTES and watch this… you too Ramin.
Ukraine on Fire
Cheers and regards to all
I agree with your viewpoint.
However, I suspect there is an age/generational vector here.
Perhaps the younger cohorts are less educated in the longer historical view?
I tried to outline some context to my 15-y.o. grandson the other day.
He was not even alive when the Bush & Blair regime invaded Iraq.
For his generation the future world looks like it is splitting into two and uncertain futures.
For myself, this is more like a return to the USSR+PRC Cold War bifucation of the 1970/80’s period — with the exception that now the Russian/Chinese (& Global South) sphere has all the ‘bling’ they want and need — plus the energy & food (and means of production) to simply run a healthy, wealthy, and wise (educated) alternative economic world. Cut through all the hysterical noise and the signal is more the isolation (and self-sanctioning) of the Anglo-American domain.
What better way to get around the problematic WTO ‘agreements’ and get on with building the new world than get them (the West) to shoot themselves in the feet?
Here is one link to the docu
I prefer to agree with Thierry Meyssan.
Intellectual sophistry. To paraphrase: Truth by any other name is still the truth. To me, the simple, essential truth is as Putin announced it. To now create a new “term” that requires deconstructing “word salad” concepts to appease Western PR would create confusion and lend credence to the West’s characterization of Putin as a deranged, hair on fire madman raging through the halls of the Kremlin intent on recreating Mother Russia.
I am one of a multitude of Americans who finally comprehend that the DC swamp/ “deep state” agencies/ Soros corrupt NGO’s/ Schwab WEF transnational globalists and big tech masters of the universe are and have been controlling the US with no regard for the best interests of the citizenry. The power structure that stole the election and put coup co-conspirator Biden in place overplayed its hand in Biden’s first year so we are even more distrustful than before the covid experiment. Many Americans now know that every word spoken by the “legacy” media is a lie so we do our own research.
The moment that I read Soros’ comments enthusiastically supporting Ukraine, I knew this conflict required research. I’ve discovered more than I wanted to know about the America I love and understand that now we will have to pay the piper for trusting the corrupt media globalist narrative.
Putin’s elucidation of his goals speak to me because they are supported by empirical, verifiable, credible facts. When I tell my friends that Putin intends to denazify and demilitarize Ukraine and briefly explain the context, they understand precisely what he intends and why and support it. Because any mention of Russia that does not demonize Putin and Russians is blocked by media and on most social sites familiar to the American public, I send links to sources of information that I find credible.
As to Putin’s economic approach, I note his stated intent to enable Russian self- sufficiency includes redistributing land otherwise owned (by whom?) but unused to Russian civilian residents. Perhaps he is familiar with the genesis and success of Ancient Greek Hoplites and their contribution to the evolution of City States.
Incidentally, by happenstance, I just met a Russian couple who were astounded that an American is familiar with the post-coup Nazi attacks on ethnic Russians in the Donbass. They view the conflict as a civil war engineered by the West and directly blame Biden.
For my part, I admire and respect President Putin and Sergei Lavrov whose sardonic dismissals of juvenile questioning by hubristic American purported journalists must be precisely what Putin means by Midge-spitting.”
Forget about PR, nobody likes PR
And about Fascism:
„Wer aber vom Kapitalismus nicht reden will, sollte auch vom Faschismus schweigen“,
Whoever is not prepared to talk about capitalism should also remain silent about fascism.
Ramin is usually outstanding but in this one I think he seems not aware that whatever Russias argument the ”west”’would twist in a complete different direction. Russia has no chance concernig propaganda war.
Mussolini’s classic definition: “Fascism is the power of The State combined with the power of Capitalism”. Which in today’s “Western” world means Anglo Zionazi Capitalism. Which is what we see in Ukraine: the coercive power of the State combined with the persuasive power of Anglo Zionazi Big Money.
But we see also another bad political influence in Ukraine: Nazism, which is Fascism combined with genocidal Racism. The Azov battalion are the genuine article, going back to Nazi-occupied Poland in WW2, and Russia need have no qualms about the true meaning of de-Nazification. If “the West” has forgotten the meaning of Nazism (or more correctly, wants to practice Nazism by another name), Russia has not forgotten — because it was Soviet Russia whose Slavic race was threatened by Nazi genocide, and whose blood and toil freed Europe from 80% of the Nazi war machine that Western Capitalism had built up for “Herr” Hitler and “Signor” Mussolini. “our bulwark against Communism”.
I thought “de-radicalization” might be a better term than de-nazification.
The western enslaved populace cannot be saved from the mire and the pyre. Its been too long years of brainwashing, neoliberal capitalist propaganda, and mind control. So the main premise of the article is inacurate and invalid. A PR operation cannot fail when it cannot succeed.
Russia had to purge their own informational perceptive domain before the combined action of Facebook, Google, Mcdonalds and Pornhub take the Russian population to a no-return point.
But I agree Russians seem to ignore everything about the psycological science. For long decades, Freud teachings were banned in the USSR. The narrative of lust and desire satisfaction as the superior value of a civilisation which selfindulgently sacrifices everything to self accomplishment and success, breaking any moral, historical or scientific boundaries, has served very well capitalist expansion. This was obviously a manipulation of Freud’s works but proved to be effective to win the hearts and minds of the plebs, making the people accomplices of work explotation, imperial expansion and structural allover corruption.
For the enslaved western plebs, not going along with the imperial narrative is perceived as losing freedom, human rights, LGTB+ rights, feminist rights, inmigrants rights, business oportunities and so on.
The west has the same problems in that its institutions are tending towards something different from liberal democracy – call it corporate-state technocracy with increasingly authoritarian control over the populations. This will lead to increasing anger and social unrest.
Who cares what zombified public in the West thinks.
I always hated ‘Godwin’s Law’ – which was nothing but a lazy way to stop uncomfortable topics. It’s a well used strategy in the West – particularly here in Germany – to identify a ‘Nazi’ merely as some almost cartoonish brutish ogre about to shovel a Jew into the oven. Anything less is not seen as a Nazi (notwithstanding the silly habit of yelling Nazi whenever someone rubs you the wrong way). That way, folks conveniently forget that the ogre in the horror movie was the end result of a long and tedious development that started quite inconspicuously – like preferring German owned shops to Jewish owned shops, or get rid of Jewish artists etc. Or whipping up ‘Volkszorn’ (people’s rage) because some Jewish guy in France shot some German guy in France. The Nazis back then justified Kristallnacht with that, right about the same time the Hitler youth was collecting for the charitable Winterhilfswerk (winter help for the poor). At a time when no one yet thought of any ovens – so according to modern Western interpretation, those people in 1938 weren’t quite real Nazis at that point in time, right? Well, that would be rubbish, obviously.
Nazis are Nazis, no matter the development stage, no matter what bogeyman happens to be the Jew of the season, no matter the disguise, no matter what anybody or themselves call them. The closest the Germany of today come to Nazis are the Greens and the Socialist and their woke dogooders – now who would have thought that? But they’re well on their way, and the level of hypocrisy required to shovel the obvious under the carpet is beyond measure.
Long rant short, the Russians call it as it is. That the West has difficulties grasping it is not a Russian PR disaster, but a glaring lack of Western honesty.
By the way, since Nazi insignia are forbidden in Germany, I do wonder what might happen if I started running around with a Wolfsangel or that nifty yellow Swastika-T-shirt Zelensky was photographed in, just to express my sympathy for Ukraine? Do you think I’d get away with it if I call it ‘Nali stuff’?
Truth is what does it matter what any of us think, we no longer have a voice about anything anyway.
Ramin, with all due respect I tend to disagree with your assessment. First of all, like others before me have mentioned, the west does not care what Russia or Putin has to say about the reason for going to war. According to the west Russia is the enemy and whatever reason it gives to justify it’s action would be unacceptable. Having said to that, I think so far the operation is a big success gauging by the number of counties to that support Russia. Can you believe that even Saudi Arabia and UAE refuse to condemn Russia. This is largely due to the cautions approach Russia took before the war started. Putin gave umple reason as to why Russia feels threatened by NATO’s action and the west’s refusal acknowledge Russia’s concern. Majority of counties in Asia, Latin and South America and Africa are in support of Russia, except vassal’s like my country Nigeria and the likes .
You have some points. But your analysis is largely wrong. I have also written in comments before, that it seems that in Russian culture they believe in action more than in rhetorics. And that that is a mistake.Because action and rhetorics should go together in any operation, most importantly in war. But your opening argument that “Russia should have known that the use of the word “Nazi” totally shuts down any discussion in the West” is just a fallacy. Indeed the opposite is true. Despite the bluffing of Geraman Chancellor, Olaf Scholz, that the Russian special operation in Ukraine has freed the Germany of the guilt of Nazi crimes, has done nothing of sort. Russia making the Nazi reference has tempered some of the self-aggrandizing of the West.
Personally I don’t agree with this premise?
No matter what Russia did the Propaganda Machine of the Anglicised International Media was and is prepared to destroy any heartbeat of any other analytic observation. Nazify or any other “Fy” is the bread and butter of the Stenographers which will descend like a storm of locusts and take down whatever begins to grow.
In fact when I have discussed with anyone and used the tm DeNazify no one has brought up the idea of “the reality that the West only associates Nazis with anti-Semitism and – not at all! – with Russophobia” as here in Australia it’s clear to me the Term Nazi has to do with Australians destroying Rommel at Tobruk and El Alamein and those who currently train in the State of Victoria and watched by ASIO?
People here are cognisant of what Nazism is and I believe Russia was correct in dealing with the explanation in the way it did……….. Frankly Russia was on a hiding to nothing to even move a finger across the Border because the US was geared up to shower this epic tsunami of a Campaign.
I think the Article is an Intellectual indulgence in navel gazing?
Furthermore the realisation of what Russia is doing will eventually seep in and there was no alternative!
Guardian 2014- “In Ukraine, fascists, oligarchs and western expansion are at the heart of the crisis”
Actually, the “denazification” thing is probably the best idea they could’ve come up with, because the West is super-sensitised against “Nazis” to the point of calling anyone who thinks there are only two genders a Nazi, and it’s trivially easy to demonstrate that Nazis are actually the real power behind the “Maidan movement”, because it’s not like they’re actually hiding it. Also, it’s very easy to demonstrate why the Russians would be sensitive to Nazis being in power in a neighbouring state.
The actual problem is that the CIA is waging a very successful information war against Russia since at least 2014, and this last phase doesn’t look like it can be anything else but preparation of their population for a nuclear war. If you play “good vs. evil” games with a geopolitical opponent, it means you’re not interested in diplomacy of any kind and you want to destroy “evil”. Of course, they would prefer the destruction to be painless for them – strangle with sanctions, infiltrate with subversive elements, break apart, assimilate. It’s not going to work, for many reasons, but the very fact that Russia secured its southern border – Kazakhstan and now Ukraine, that it’s strengthening the military presence in Belarus, and that it issued the “non-ultimatum” to America, means that they are not going to just sit in their corner waiting to die like DPRK. They will purge American nuclear-strategic equipment from Europe, America will then try to “deter” them by some form of military attack, and that will end badly. Russian military posture is exactly what you would expect if they wanted to secure their borders before a nuclear war. NATO military posture in Eastern Europe is exactly what you would expect if they wanted to militarily hold the terrain after a nuclear exchange and prevent the Russians of taking Europe. These preparations have been going on for a while under some fictitious guise, but Russia is reading them correctly and is now doing a counter-posture of their own.
I personally like the word de-nazification. I think it’s pretty accurate, unless you present it to the Western masses, those wouldn’t differentiate a cow from a bus and its exaggerate to guess that Western audiences can see something they are not told to.
My opinion only
It would help if the author of the article understood what Nazism is. Nazism is a flavour of socialism. Race based national socialism. So it can just as easily be anti Russian as anti Jewish, but it’s generally anti everything except the one holy chosen ethnic group. The opposite of liberalism.
bernhard at ‘Moon of Alabama’ doesn’t seem to think the Russian approach has been such a PR disaster, Ramin. See the – Western! – media outlets that b quotes, on the Ukrainian nazis.
The btl comments have some interesting material on this matter too, if you have the time to dig there. Cheers good brother. Always glad to see you highly useful Iranian Islamic-Socialist take on things. A valuable eye-opener:
Now Mr Ramin thanks for the piece, at least one thing is true that Russia lost the international information war and that’s on the same page with Mr Andrei. But before I read others comment what popped up in my mind is I disagree if there was a better word to use than “denazification”, and then you introduced the term “nali” which if I got you correctly refers to national liberals. If a political science PhD holder says he doesn’t understand what nazi is synonymous to ultra-nationalist well that’s because he chooses not to. I am chemist and I only had to follow the timeline of the event in Ukraine since 2014 to understand what Putin meant by denazification. Pls if there’s a better world I would like you to shed more light on it.
As for economic model other than WLD, I think there’s only one way to find out now. Yes I strongly believe in nationalization but I also believe it’s one step at a time, with the help of China, Iran and possibly India the Russian economy will first get its bearing before aspiring to be independent speaking of Iran or north Korea.
Do you really think there would be any point attempting to slug it out in a PR battle with those who cancel Russian CATS and demand that Russians publicly disavow their own Nation before they can be “allowed” to continue in their chosen careers? Who OWNS the media of the West?
Even Trump got cancelled by Twitter!
Remember Babi Yar before arguing that the Banderists are some sort of “cleaner, shinier version” of NAZI pride, who after all “only hate the Slavs” – whereas Hitler supposedly only hated Jews, and saved his genocidal rage for them alone. This is what you will be forced to accept if you hope to have a voice inside the West’s Trademarked PR Space. In the West – Truth does not matter. There is only Narrative.
There is a far deeper point here – to the extent that Ramin Mazaheri is correct about the engineered lack of bite of the term NAZI in the currrency of the Neoliberal Fascism of today, he is encountering a cynical historical revisionism which has never been anything but Russophobic. We all know that had it not been for Russia then Hitler would have triumphed, and in truth, Russia has never been, and will never be forgiven for that Sin! It has become tantamount to the geopolitical Original Sin.
… It begs the question of who was financing Hitler and hoping for his victory over Russia, and the establishment of a new order built on the ashes of the British Empire. Another topic perhaps, but we are still fighting the progeny of the very same corrupt origins, shamelessly and brazenly embedded in the EU.
Russia has turned away from the West. Good. It is a stinking corpse and it needs to be buried, along with every NAZI sympathiser. It is a mistake to assume that the PR here is directed at the West and the atomised rump of what was once an informed public – it is not. It is devoted to Russia, and to the multi-polar alliances now forming. It is a simple re-stating of historical fact. In this War – Truth Matters.
The Russians will win the PR war with the bio-laboratories story, which the Western media is desperate to hide.
Today they announced that they will show how Ukrainian laboratories spread diseases in UK and EU. This will be a real bomb and will instantly turn the European citizen, already fed up with the Covid fake vaccines’ disaster, against their governments.
It’s just a matter of time.
Curious as to how one wins a pr war against a widely adopted electronic media who is using subliminal programming and entrainment technology to render those who plug themselves into it incapable of rational thought or intellectual logical factual discussion by exploiting their human emotional reactions and psychology.
Look at the co vid non sense.
Case in point, a cousin 75 years old, male, not dumb, living in California, states Putin sb assassinated. Knows nothing about the facts, only what he is programmed to know by cnn msnbc etc.
Even I, someone who cares for him, can see he is lost to the propaganda and realizes it is not worth my time to engage in foolish debate.
I understand the term denazification and what is meant by it. Pretty straightforward and encompassing if you ask me.
When the BBC just repeats Azov Drama Theatre propaganda without any journalistic vetting or corroboration, then it is clear the PR war cannot be won with the average sheep. I keep explaining to people all the inconsistencies, but their eyes just glaze over because they cannot deal with the fact that they might have been lied to by their own government. Strangely enough, they have no problem saying that their politicians are lying bulshitters on domestic politics but this Russian thing is so big, it must be true.
Frankly my dear…..
They don’t give a damn…..
The Nazis…. attacked without warning…. killed > 27 million….. starved > 3 million Russian POWs to death…
Mass murdered…. poles…. jews…. Russian civilians….
Ukraine was taken under Banderist… NAZI control….
Ukraine’s NAZIs… are being eliminated….. soon…. ditto in the Balts…. Georgia…. Moldova….
Question…. how far west does the cancer go???
Britain…… Canada….. USA……???? YOU??????
Very interesting article in ‘counterpunch’ today. It reads.

”Oligarchs Have Shaped Our View of Russia, But It’s Putin’s Corrupt Elite That has Hobbled Him in Ukraine War.”
BY PATRICK COCKBURN
I think the author might be on to something. There has been an unending and barely hidden struggle between two political forces in Russia.
The western-oriented oligarchs – i.e., the Atlantic integrationists have plundered Russia, and the siloviki. The siloviki have stolen a great deal of money and have their palatial villas in the Mediterranean and elsewhere. A French activist this week broke into the €4.5m villa in Biarritz, with marble bathrooms and eight bedrooms, belonging to Putin’s daughter Katerina Tikhonova. As with other takeovers of properties owned by the Russian super-rich, videos of the luxurious furnishings and paintings are likely to do them a lot of damage have stolen a great deal of money and have their palatial villas in the Mediterranean and elsewhere. A French activist this week broke into the €4.5m villa in Biarritz, with marble bathrooms and eight bedrooms, belonging to Putin’s daughter Katerina Tikhonova. As with other takeovers of properties owned by the Russian super-rich, videos of the luxurious furnishings and paintings are likely to do them a lot of damage.
These particular – frankly parasitic – strata have done a great deal to arrest Russian development and growth which is nowhere near it should be, the Russian Central Bank being like a ball and chain around the Russian economy. Glazyev who was sent to Siberia (in political terms) has at least been let in to the corridors of power, a move that should have been made years ago.
Ex-pat Russian millionaires in London have been buying Renaissance art, and whole blocks of Knightsbridge (a very fashionable part of London). The British Accountancy firm, Price, Waterhouse, Cooper, PwC report on Russian initial public offerings (IPOs) companies being floated on the UK stock market – found that between 2005 and 2014 there were 2 listings on the New York Stock Exchange, two in the US technology exchange, two in the US, 37 in Moscow and 67 on the London Stock Exchange.
All which tends to confirm the situation which Putin inherited from Yeltsin but which was never fully implemented. Paul Craig-Roberts has repeatedly made this point.
Of course if it is any consolation the situation in the western world is if anything even more corrupt and decadent than Russia.
It really feels like Mazaheri comes from the French media sphere… Calling a spade a spade is not usual there. And only those granted a licence from the very powerful CRJF (French Jewish association) can accuse other people, if not of being ‘Nazis’, of being ‘Antisemites’ (no ‘Godwin Law’ there it seems). But this is not exclusive to France. It is the basic Zionist mantra all around the world, illustrated by documentaries like ‘The Lobby’ in the US and UK about the influence of these Jewish lobbies on the discourse about Jews, … and Nazis. Corbyn was erased by them from the UK political landscape (before he took the wrong stance on Brexit).
But the problem here with the Russians talking about the ‘denazification’ of the Ukraine is rather the level of propaganda the public in the West has been accustomed to. And this level is pretty high indeed.
So that accusing the Ukie regime of being led by gangsters and neo-Nazis (which is the reality) is quite a leap for Western people used to a 24/7/365 serving of Putin being accused of Nazi (/antisemite, /homophobic, /etc.) crimes. And the ‘Godwin Law’ is suddenly erased by the new ‘rules-based’ principles of the Western media when it comes to idiotically accusing Putin of being ‘the new Hitler’.
There is no mistake from the Russian side in speaking of ‘denazification’ in the Ukraine. The real problem is the sheer level of unreality reached by the propaganda that has been fed into the Western media consumers’ heads. Thinking that the thugs behind the Zelinsky regime (and the US/NATO ones) are the ‘nice guys’ and the Russians are ‘Nazi invaders’ is quite a leap from the reality of what’s going on in the Ukraine.
And I don’t think the Russians should use any more ‘polite’ terms to qualify that regime. People in the West need to learn to know that their ‘side’ (US/NATO) is prone to ally with the ‘bad ones’, like they did everywhere in the world (Latin America etc.) and like they did recently in Syria by arming and funding the so-called ‘moderate rebels’ (i.e. real Nazis) of Daesh & co.
Contrary to Mazaheri’s opinion, I think the Western population need to learn about the Nazis their NATO leaders ally with, and what those their media sell them as ‘heroes’ really do to the civilian population of the Ukraine (or Syria etc.), like using civilians as human shields or hostages.
Given the weight of the propaganda in the Western media (where the goal of the CIA, as expressed in the early 1980s by Director William J. Casey, of having the people believe the exact opposite of reality, seems to be successfully attained), the Russians don’t need to change how they talk about the reality, but instead to go on with their barrage against Western disinformation and the mediatic propaganda Iron Wall of the Empire of Lies.
not sure about denazification but you are absolutely correct about economic model. It seems Putin thinks Russian national identity will be sufficient for countering sanctions and his refusal to seize western property indicates that he does not grasp the scale of the assault or what have to be done to overcome the sanctions. He is a liberal and that will be the fall of Russia if he insists on keeping his rich friends around as they will certainly turn against him, collaborate with the west, etc.
I regularly read The Saker for information not available elsewhere, but I do not comment. Exceptionally, I do want to add a couple observationa about the use of “denazification” as a goal of this Russian operation.
1) in the western countries many concepts are not understood, have been abandoned or purposefully removed from public discourse. That is not a reason not to use them in their porper meaning and in the proper context. The West is just one part of our big world. Reality in the West has long been “created” by propaganda, advertising, the media and PR. The make believe world the West lives in is just that, a make believe world. I don’t see why Russia, or anyone else, should conform to the fabrication of reality so that it would be understood in the West, or anywhere else. Language is our crucial means to determine, honestly, the circumstances of our lives. The truth is our only compass. That is why it is always under attack. So, speak the truth and use the right terms, regardless of whether it will be understood in the West.
2) The problem with “denazification” as a goal of this Russian action is that no one understands what is meant by it, how it is meant to be achieved. The Russian authorities should clarify exactly what they mean, what they plan to do, how etc.
Ask any normie “what’s the problem with a neutral Ukraine, like Sweden ?”
You just liberated someone
I’m sorry. I simply can not agree with the author’s refusal to recognise a major destructive problem with Ukraine since 2014 (and also want to disagree that it didn’t exist before 2014) – Nazism. That is what it is – clearly and unambiguously. These people are nazis through and through – the worship Stepan Bandera. They worship Adolph Hitler. They are full-fledged white supremacists. They fly the flags of Hitler and Bandera. They hold torch-lit rallies proclaiming their love of Banders and Hitler. Their hateful political and quasi-military organisations such as the Social-Nationalists (just the reverse of National socialist), Right Sector, the Azov Battalion (or whatever they call themselves these days) – all existed prior to 2014 and only came to power in 2014 with the overthrow of the duly-elected government of the time. And now, since the coup, they have wedged themselves into full power status in Ukraine, infiltrating government, the National Guard and the security services.
The author can coin a silly phrase like “Nali” (sounds almost feminine or childlike), but the fact remains – there is a large population of nationalist Hitler-lovers who hate Russians so much that they are willing to destroy both their country and their own citizens to spread that hate as far and wide as possible. and this is not by any means simply a Ukrainian problem – it is a Western problem – Nazism is spreading across Europe and the USA – there are significant numbers of these people.
These are nazis and they are not recognised as nazis in the West because 1) many people, because of the suppression by the Western press, know little or nothing about them and 2) because the Western leadership finds it convenient to support them for now as they contribute to Western geopolitical interests – i.e., a powerful weapon against Russia.
You will never change people’s minds about this issue because they are too thoroughly brainwashed by the intelligence services of the West, led by the CIA/MI6. And there is little or nothing that Russia can do to change this.
So, in my opinion, Putin and Russia are entirely correct to call this operation de-Nazification – because that is precisely what it is – even if the West doesn’t like that term (they don’t like that term because they do not want their people to know the kind of people they are supporting in their war against Russia).
Call them what they are – Nazis.
Every nation wants to become strong needs:
1) very strong religion/ideology
2) very strong economy
3) very strong Armed Forces
1. is truly numder one. 2 can be third and 3 second.
44 years of Iran has proved that it has won. Russia is fighting but we truly see now its strenghts and weaknesses. Russia is full of TIKTOK pro-west snowflake folks and only among always boring teenagers.
I agree that the west cannot understand or are even willing to accept that these people wearing swastika tattoos are Nazis in the true sense of the word. They are simply incapable of accepting that Russia could be correct about anything. This is despite during BLM protests when facing American Nazis they denigrated and condemned them absolutely. Now we have Zelensky addressing the US Congress in a T-shirt with an Iron Cross and Nancy Pelosi announcing “Glory to Ukraine!!”. Utter and complete hypocrisy and clearly they have lost their collective minds. So, in a sense Americans and to a lesser extent Europeans are incapable of independent thought and have been trained that Nazi equals anti-semitism and NOT the hateful people these Nazi/Nali’s really are. This will come back to bite them in the ass later.
This extends to the ME fighters including jihadist Uigyars, ISIS, and Al Qaeda plus every kind of pseudo- or wannabe- Nazis from around the world. It may be interesting if Russia lets them assemble and wipes them out with more Kaliber missiles and perhaps can eradicate a large number of reprehensible people from the face of the world. But, when Russia completes the operation and will be forced to go all the way to the Polish border, these people will escape back into Europe with massive numbers of weapons. This will bring about some very serious problems as these people hate everyone not just Russians. At best they will become bandits but worst case look for airliner shootdowns and anti-tank missiles against government buildings or banks in the EU. Perhaps this will be ironic justice.
Isn’t it interesting that only true but short periods when e.g Americans were thinking real things happened in 1930’s (terrible agonizing Great Depression) and 1970-75 (shameful defeat in Vietnam). Defeat is the most strongest game changer in brains. In 1930’s Americans were not shame to be real left. Hunger is good teacher. And lost war.
“THE MORALE, DISCIPLINE and battleworthiness of the U.S. Armed Forces are, with a few salient exceptions, lower and worse than at anytime in this century and possibly in the history of the United States.
By every conceivable indicator, our army that now remains in Vietnam is in a state approaching collapse, with individual units avoiding or having refused combat, murdering their officers and non commissioned officers, drug-ridden, and dispirited where not near mutinous.Elsewhere than Vietnam, the situation is nearly as serious.”
THE COLLAPSE OF THE ARMED FORCES
By Col. Robert D. Heinl, Jr.
North American Newspaper Alliance
Armed Forces Journal, 7 June, 1971
“The rich may hate ‘redistribution’, but it is necessary. Without it, there can be no equilibrium in an economy. Capitalist economies are not like the gas in a jar. The heat in the jar spreads until the air is all at the same temp. However, money in an economy moves toward the richest part and accumulates there. This continues until the ‘temp’ there is so high is causes a revolution.”
That belief above is the problem with the left. They can’t get their head around the fact that there isn’t a fixed amount of money and they are all ‘feel gooders’ who like to value signal to each other about how Robin Hood they are.
It is a fantasy. But it is a founding fantasy that they can’t get beyond.
When you can continually supply heat to the bottom, it no longer matters how hot the top gets. And that’s because their excess saving acts exactly like taxation – it eliminates monetary spending in the economy. So you no longer need to tax elsewhere.
The left overtax, and they want to continue as the middlemen shuffling tax from the top to the bottom. Why? Because it gives ‘feel gooder’ lefties control over the income flow, a job as middlemen and they can direct it to their favoured projects.
In that sense they are no different from the finance and bankers on the right who insert themselves as middlemen to direct the spending flow to their favoured projects.
MMT shows that neither lefties with a fetish for Lincoln Green, nor bankers and bond traders are required. And they both hate that.
It’s not the redistribution we need to be concerned about. It is eliminating the middle class middlemen – of the left and right varieties. Both are a pox on society, both keep the poor in servitude, both deliberately stop the root cause of societal problems being solved just to maintain their own worthless jobs.
They want a MONOPOLY to extract rent. so a big 3 or 4 companies in each business sector can manipulate prices.
Why can’t it be that higher wages force firms to invest in better management techniques and the most advanced technologies in order to get the most out of their higher cost labour?
That’s known as the paradox of productivity not mentioned on banking TV or in the bankers noble prize.
Productivity improvements just lead to falling prices, so firms try to avoid doing productivity improvements and prefer to try and obtain monopoly power instead. That’s what a ‘market niche’ is.
Higher wages will lead to some firms failing, which releases people onto the labour market, driving down wages. If you try to hold those jobs up, and force losses onto the other side you end up with an investment strike and the whole house of cards collapses into stagflation.
And why would firms in a competitive capitalistic system ever try to avoid productivity improvements?
Compare the cost of a concert violinist to a loaf of bread in the 19th century vs today. That’s what productivity increases do over time – because it takes less human time to produce an item, and time is really what everything ends up being priced in.
That’s the paradox of productivity. Productivity improvements ultimately leads to cheaper prices not increased profits. Because that’s what competition is there to do. The profits can go further – in that they can buy more stuff. But capitalists like to accumulate units of account.
In essence the dynamics of pure competition leads to an oversupply in the market which brings prices down until firms start to go bust to eliminate the oversupply. Therefore market players try to stop competition happening by constantly seeking a MONOPOLY perch. From which they can extract rent.
The system has to force competition onto essentially reluctant players. Make capital compete for Labour for the first time since 1981.
So stop issuing government bonds to stop those at the top from hoarding their wealth. Stop them from buying more than 2 properties.
Replace interest rate targeting with a job guarentee.
With the Job Guarantee in place you can let firms go bust and can hold firms to a much higher competitive standard than if you are relying on private firms to ‘provide jobs’. Job security is provided by a liquid local job market backed by the Job Guarantee, not by propping up individual firms with state subsidies. Businesses can be treated as cattle, not pets. If we are to have capitalism, we should have it — raw in the teeth and brutal — but merely restrict its effects to the capitalists. Those that survive this Ninja Challenge will then have truly earned their spoils.
Not sure about this, dear Ramin.
The info war has already been lost a long time ago. You cannot compete against the Imperial apparatus in the west, they are in total control. They can stream any messages they want, terminally zombified western public opinions will swallow it (see with covid 19 what they’ve been able to buy)
When the real war has started, who cares about the Infowar anyway ? We’ll get back to it when we’ll control the medias in the conquered territories. As simple as that.
Yes! A PR disaster (on the face of it). Proviso: the absolutely hysterical Western propaganda just further delegitimizes the great Western Wurlitzer. Case in point: why was it worth imploding global trade so that US/NATO could place lethal weaponry on the Russian border? Remember how the Democrats in he US dragged Trump through 4 years of hell, why? Basically bringing down the somewhat successful American economy?
Because Hillary Clinton (“we came, we saw, he died) was practically guaranteed a big win in the 2016 US Presidential election. She earned her viscous global domination stripes, so to speak, by destroying Libya. Next, she would destroy Russia (then China). Trumps indisputable victory in the 2016 election set back what is happening since Biden was installed by 5 years (1 year to lay the groundwork). Recall that practically every US newspaper endorsement was favoring Hillary. The FBI and CIA have been proven to be “in the pocket” of the Democratic party. It was all but a “done deal”. Then Trump upset the ‘apple cart’. So: Russian and China (and Iran, of course) have had these 5 years to get in shape for what is now happening (the hypersonic weapons and S-500 especially). Back to the “West” who appear headed to a Great Reset with technocrats in charge down to the dollar exchange by individuals.
Okay, the main thrust of what I must convey to you (and Andrei the Saker). Both you two loudly lament the loss of the PR situation in the aftermath of the Russian invasion. Perhaps you should consider that this may be part of the plan – as well as the supposed freeze and potential looting of the Russian sovereign wealth by Biden and Wall Street. This comes after the US stole Afghanistan’s Wall Street holdings, while their people starve. This helped move India to side with Russia (especially as the US is threatening India with sanctions over S-400 – the Indians are smart enough to see which way the wind blows). Not so much publicized, the Russians and the China have had these 5 years since Trumps 2016 election to lay the groundwork for the essential coup de grace – a new Eurasian economy excluding “the West” from the ability to wage war through sanctions. Once the new financial system is up and running fully, the Eurasian continent will be free.
Back to the PR war. All of what had happened since 2/2/22 is further exposing the throughly decadent, materialistic (all material first goes to “the West”) and dishonest Western ‘game plan’. Further, “the West” has begun to believe their own propaganda – i.e. the “brave Ukrainians” have halted the Russian offensive. Ukraine was destroyed but propped up by ‘the West’ before the invasion. Now their military is destroyed. The West being so obsessed with destroying Russia (and then China, the obvious plan any non-idiot can see unfolding) that they want to believe that the “West’s” wonder weapons will turn the tide (just as Hitler did as the Russian approached Berlin in 1945). End game. Putin is smart enough to know that sacrifices must be made by the Russian people in order to liberate them from the Luciferian system “the West” seeks to impose on them. Pepe Escobar revealed a new global currency by Russia/China. As the US sinks, those dollars lost to sanctions will fade to nothingness. Except further exposing how the world is captive to their self-centered machinations. “The West” can further their believe in their propaganda that Russia will back down (for the money they stole if nothing else) if they can prolong the Ukrainian “resistance”. But, if Russia is ever in danger of “losing” (and they can’t, with the hypersonic weapons and subs off the US eastern coast locked and loaded) in Ukraine they can obliterate the forces surrounded in the cauldrons and give the Ukrainian regime absolutely nothing, take the eastern two-thirds of Ukraine containing significant Russian speakers (they already paid for that with the maximum sanctions imposed on them), and be rid of the inept comedian puppet running Ukraine (except he really isn’t).. The Ukrainian people should now see that the “Revolution of Dignity” called Maidan has resulted in the total destruction of their country – and that US/NATO won’t lose a single soldier. So, I believe that the loss of the “PR offensive” is actually judo by Putin. The dollar reserve supposedly stolen by the US will become toilet paper as the delusional exceptionalists in American seeing their big game is failing and it revealed that they have to pay for the $10 trillion or so they printed out of thin air to keep the Ponzi scheme called financialization to continue chugging alone. No, there are no money tress (perhaps our deluded financiers believe in that too!
Let them spray their propaganda. The Saker says that there have been millions of page views on the Saker site. So those who still do their own thinking will laugh at the desperate and collapsing West.
Ramin, you state social science doctors are unable to equate the principle of denazifying Ukraine because Zelensky is a Jew. I have a M.Litt. in Sociology from, all years, 1984. And, I have to emphasise one did not need to attend a Social Science Faculty in my time to understand National Socialism. A general definition of Nazism which would have been prevalent at that time might include “Racial Superiority” (the purity of blood lines), “the natural hierarchy of individuals and races” (Individuals with greater mental and physical strength would gain higher positions within the paradigm, likewise with nation states) “the subordination of the individual to the State” (Capitalist of course) (The state fuses with Capitalism in order to create an Exceptional Economy and Society. A by product of the above would cleanse society of people with physical and mental disabilities, inferior and unwanted bloodlines, this is where Gypsies, Jews and Slavic people come in. The Nazi Regime were pro Semitic as they supported both Arabic and Berber peoples. It seems to me that education itself has been twisted into a propaganda tool. Have to wind-up as there is a fishing competition about to cast-off, this Paddy’s Day
Washington wants to stop the energy speculation it caused
On March 2, 2022, the International Energy Agency (IEA) decided to sell 60 million barrels of oil in order to lower the price of energy on the global market.
The Biden administration supported the sale of 30 million barrels of oil from its strategic reserve.
The result of this invitation to tender was published on March 17, 2002. It breaks down as follows:
Atlantic Trading & Marketing, Inc. (1.05 million barrels);
Chevron USA (1.265 million barrels);
Gunvor USA, LLC (0.350 million barrels);
Marathon Petroleum Supply and Trading, LLC (16.06 million barrels);
Motiva Enterprises, LLC (2.55 million barrels);
Phillips 66 Company (4.2 million barrels); and
Valero Marketing and Supply Company (4.75 million barrels)
Deliveries will take place between April 1 and May 31, 2022.
Speculation on energy prices first started with those of Ukrainian gas, at the initiative of the United States, in the last quarter of 2021. It has gradually spread to all energy sources. Currently, the financial bubble it has created is much larger than the real estate bubble (subprime) in 2008. The bursting of this bubble, now fueled by rumors surrounding the war in Ukraine, would threaten the entire capitalist system.
It is THE perfect moment for Russia(if Putin was really in power), to terminate Zone A financial system.
Just stop deliveries by all pipes + oil to Zone A.
The ponzi will collapse, they will capitulate..but nothing of this happen.
Breaking: even more stupid, Russia avoided to default on payments of debts in Eur and USD…what a scam
a fake war, just a battle between oligarchs from zones A and B.
And sadly zone A is winning.
These are two different groups of nazis who were financed and organized and are controlled and mobilized separately by the CIA and foggy bottom. So it’s fully mistaken to try to “describe” and denounce them as a single coherent unit.
In nazi germany the pre-1933 nazis (alte kaempfer) were very different from the opportunistic post-1933 “new decent-nazi” recruits.
A big difference in UKR is that the USA began recruiting the post-1993 “decent-nazi” types already before the maidan coup (by creating NGOs and medias that both financed and ideologized the middle and upper middle class that already had incipient EU delusions).
Narcissistically, the “decent-nazi” EU-loving UKR nazis delude themselves by thinking it was them who triumphed in 2014. And this requires them to erase the dirty work carried out by the “alte-kaempfer” UKR nazis both pre2014 and in the 2014-2022 period.
This explanation is way overdue, at least to those of us who are new to this blog. As a (typical) American who only vaguely knew anything about Ukraine before this started, I have been (honestly) wondering for weeks how exactly Nazis are running the Ukraine when Zelenskyy is Jewish. Anyone who lives in the west knows that “Nazi” is a synonym for “Anti-Semite.” Nobody remembers that it has political or economic dimensions. It’s purely a “snarl word” at this point.
You miss the point.
The Russian elite has decided the “The West is lost” and is proceeding along this presumption from now on.
In such a worldview, it matters not one iota what people “in the West” think and if they understood something or not.
Russia made clear messaging internally and exernally:
The message was, paraphrased:
– “We do not like the people who run the things in Ukraine today.”
– “These people were “installed” by the collective “West” and are Evil Nazis, emphasis on “Evil” (label being unimportant, but the fact there are folks like Azov who are bona-fide nazis helps their narrative a lot).”
– “We see the action of these people as an existential treat to us.”
– “We have decided to remove this threat”
This message may not be understood in the West – who sees itself as the God-sanctioned group of angels.
But boy, it IS very well understood in LA, in the Middle East, in China, in Africa. There are a LOT of countries who see the US (and FR, UK) as “The Great Satan & Co” and a LOT of people there have personal and semi-personal experience to support that view. Even a lot of the US allies respect the power of the US. But they mostly do NOT see the US as a benevolent power how it is portaing itself here.
These people, even those non-educated, understand the “The While Man speak with a forked tongue” meme very well.
They may not understand what this whole “nazi” story is to the political detail. At best, the know nazis were “evil”. They also, independently, see US/West as evil. The comes Putin and calls people aligned with the West “Evil Nazis”.
That makes PERFECT SENSE to these people – people which Andrei so often calls “Zone B”.
In the same way it looks so ridiculous to the Western audience.
I am a Mediterranean Western European that have lived in a Nordic country, in the US and currently I live in a germanic one. I know pretty well all the different cultural groups of the West so I think I am qualify to discuss your conclusion.
While you are true in your premise that most Western Europeans and Americans don’t get that indeed more Russians than Jewish were killed by Nazis I don’t think you understand how Western mentality works.
The West mentality is not based in facts or in a logical process, but in emotions.
It does not matter that Zelenski is Jewish, and it could not matter if he would not be.
Western newspapers shows west Ukrainians dying, social media shows west Ukrainians dying and only pro west Ukrainians voices appear in media.
So people react emotionally and think that Russians are worst than Orcs.
In my country some east Ukrainians basketball players defence Russia. They were only showed in a regional newspaper, and they were hardly criticised in the social media. And they are Ukrainians (just from the bad side).
US controls all Western newspapers (but the smallest) and also they control all the social media. They control what people see, and therefore they control what people feel.
It seems like you believe that Western people really have a choice or an autonomy in what to think. This have never been true, and now is less true than never.
Also you have to understand that in the West you can not show pro Russian support. This is cristal clear.
I know people that lost their jobs for post something pro Russian. In the current cancel culture, nobody can say anything different than the official version.
Estamos jodidos Pepe. Muy buen comentario. Soy yoni reinon. Buscame en redes y hablamos. Somos la voz que predica en el desierto.
The Great Reset Phase 2: War
Covid – WWIII – Great reset
Welcome to the second phase of the Great Reset: war.
While the pandemic acclimatised the world to lockdowns, normalised the acceptance of experimental medications, precipitated the greatest transfer of wealth to corporations by decimating SMEs and adjusted the muscle memory of workforce operations in preparation for a cybernetic future, an additional vector was required to accelerate the economic collapse before nations can ‘Build Back Better.’
I present below several ways in which the current conflict between Russia and Ukraine is the next catalyst for the World Economic Forum’s Great Reset agenda, facilitated by an interconnected web of global stakeholders and a diffuse network of public-private partnerships.
1. The war between Russia and Ukraine is already causing unprecedented disruption to global supply chains, exacerbating fuel shortages and inducing chronic levels of inflation.
I think people in the west have been so propagandized over the years they have no clue which way is up. 5 plus years of RussiaGate BS, 2 plus years of COVID hysteria, and now the unprecedented censorship & wall of lies psyops has turned westerners critical thinking skills to mush. Most westerners do not realize 27 million Russians were killed by the Nazis in WW2, they do not know about the US backed neo-Nazi Maidan coup in 2014 or the resulting civil war over these last 8 years taking 14000 mainly ethnic Russian lives. There is no mainstream news media in this country. (I live in Seattle) There is only the Department of Perception Management & Narrative Control. God help us all should this war get out of hand. Very scary times.
This is a good article, Ramin, and an important angle for all of us to consider who want Russia to prevail and protect her interests against the greed and tyranny of the globalists. I know of one political discussion blog, Op-Ed News, that banned the use of “Nazi” because it has become nearly devoid of meaning, and is typically used to express severe disagreement and nothing more.
I still respect Putin’s choice of the word, as he tries to provoke thought in people about what has gone on that could motivate a military action. The problem is he’s preaching to the choir. Ninety-nine percent of the people I talk to know nothing at all about what has happened in Ukraine from the coup d’etat onward. Meanwhile they’ve heard the most ridiculous lies about Putin and Russia, and those have been repeated for so long with no dissenting views allowed (called “Putin patsies” if we try), that they all believe it as an established fact that Putin is an evil dictator who personally kills journalists and allows no freedom of speech in his country, etc. Heck , I just introduce myself as a Putin patsy and tell people what I think the honest truth is. I point out that if people choose to march around with WWII Nazi insignia, it’s only fair to call them “Nazis,” but rather than use that term myself, I just call them violent extremists. But if people have heard that talk of 14,000 Russian-speaking Ukrainians dead at their hands is a fantasy of a mentally ill dictator, the conversation stops there.
The PR war in the West was lost five years ago, if not earlier.
Ukro-Nationalists are white supremacists. That’s all we needed to know.
Just caught this Medvedev translation, and note … “In which there is no place for frostbitten Nazis, historical lies and genocide. Moral force and historical truth, as before, are on our side!”
This is my first Telegram post. The circumstances were such that this communication resource was in demand to a greater extent than the well-known social media that compromised themselves. Therefore, the first publication is devoted to the most dramatic topic.
The frenzied Russophobia of the West, apparently, will never reach the bottom. The expansion of NATO to our borders, the economic and information war unleashed against our country on all fronts, endless threats and intimidation, the fierce persecution of our citizens abroad. All these are the reasons for the extreme aggravation of the international situation that the whole world is experiencing these days.
The line of behavior of the countries of the Western world towards Russia in recent years is disgusting, criminal and immoral. And this is despite the fact that we sincerely sought good relations with them. Together we defeated fascism in the XX century, agreed on universal rules of security and cooperation. But now no one is surprised by the double standards of the West. When they need it, they can turn a blind eye to everything, including the extermination of civilians in Donbass, which lasted for years. If something goes against their orders, the culprit is our country.
The anti-Russian hysteria that we are currently witnessing is by no means a new phenomenon. It was in the XIX and XX centuries. Let ‘s recall the famous words of Fyodor Tyutchev: “It has long been possible to predict that this rabid hatred, which has been kindled in the West against Russia for thirty years, stronger and stronger every year, will break loose someday. This moment has come. Russia was simply offered suicide, renunciation of the very basis of its existence, a solemn recognition that it is nothing else in the world, as a wild and ugly phenomenon, as an evil that requires correction.”
It feels like it was written in 2022.
History has convincingly proved its cyclical nature in the XXI century. The ground for this “rabid hatred” towards Russia was laid by the United States and its satellites throughout the thirty years of the existence of the new Russian state. It’s just that for a long time she was masked by the hypocritical white-toothed smiles of politicians and diplomats who said one thing and did something completely different. Simply put, they brazenly lied to us for the sake of their own interests.
Of course, they did not like that Russia has again become a strong power capable of defending its interests, protecting its own citizens in other countries. The fierce Russophobia noted in the quoted Russian classic literally “broke loose”, choking in impotent anger. After all, our country must be cornered, brought to its knees and re-educated according to the patterns of the Anglo-Saxon world. Make her weak and completely submissive. And even better – to tear it apart.
It won’t work. Russia has enough power to put in place all the oborzevshie enemies of our country. We will continue to fight for the world order that suits the Russian Federation and our citizens. In which there is no place for frostbitten Nazis, historical lies and genocide. Moral force and historical truth, as before, are on our side!

Ramin, if Russia called the Ukrainian nationalists “violent white supremacists” it might have been easier for Americans to understand.
Then when they asked why white supremacists are attacking Russians, the Russians could explain that the Ukrainians see Russians as snow niggers.
What the West believes or does not believe is immaterial. The Russian and Ukrainian people understand very well what denazification is all about. Reality is what matters. PR is past its sell-by date. Only idiots believe the MSM and there is nothing practical that they can do to hinder Russia attaining its objectives.
I am surprised at the quality of the comments here, which are usually quite insightful. Ramins’ piece here is not solely about the PR campaign and changing perceptions in the West, which admittedly would be an uphill battle being as the Echo chamber MSM W. is always all playing the same tune on its Mighty Wurlitzer, rather he is more focused on the need to fully de-westernize the economic structures inside the country, to learn from the examples of China and Iran. Socialism is the answer, Capitalism is the problem and roadblock. The current Economic paths set by Putin and his people following his replacement of Yeltsin were implemented in an atmosphere extremely toxic to the former USSR, and Yeltsin had already set in place western liberal Capitalism, and Putin and his people have steered the safest path through this swamp of Western ideas. He has already nationalized various aspects of the economy to the great benefit of the public and government power and effectiveness, the oil and gas sectors foremost. But he has not yet sufficiently renounced the Western values that inform their brand of ‘gangster’ Capitalism, or fully addressed that inside of Russia. But I would argue a bit with Ramin, that he has gone a long way. The Defense industry being another great example of effective Govt. control and management. Plus his efforts to fund Health Care and Retirements. And as I tell so many others, how is it that his best friend in the entire world is the biggest Commie in the history of that world ? Looks to me like the Russia/China/Iran nexus is a fait accompli, to all their great benefit.
