USA has to make use of its carriers to justify existence. It’s ideology doesn’t allow for idle military assets.
It would take heavy losses in conflict but it has 12+8 super carrier/carrier.
Basically 60 each on supercarrier, 25 on assault carrier. Can put almost 1000 planes into air with full committal. Let’s say 2-500 normally, that’s why as someone mentioned it appears strong when it’s not.
I.e it used marine & special force in Iraq afg & has been us f-22 for now.
If it had to commit f15,16,18 a lot of Indian kids would be collecting scrap for another Asal Uttar museum. :D

I think that’s quite possible. Everyone (well almost everyone) seem to think that it’s only a matter of time before China catches up with the US militarily, if that’s the case, why not start a war now before it’s too late ?
As pointed out following the last US carrier grouping – what is going on with the carrier that is now on the otherside of Latin America come off the coast of Brazil?
The ex Persian Gulf carrier seems to be heading up the Chinese coastline….
