The fact that the USA is facing a profound crisis, possibly the worst one in its history, is accepted by most observers, except maybe the most delusional ones. Most Americans definitely know that. In fact, if there is one thing upon which both those who supported Trump and those who hate him with a passion can agree on, it would be that his election is a clear proof of a profound crisis (I would argue that the election of Obama before also had, as one of its main causes, the very same systemic crisis). When speaking of this crisis, most people will mention the deindustrialization, the drop in real income, the lack of well-paid jobs, healthcare, crime, immigration, pollution, education, and a myriad of other contributing factors. But of all the aspects of the “American dream”, the single most resilient one has been the myth of the US military as “the finest fighting force in history”. In this new book, Andrei Martianov not only comprehensively debunks this myth, he explains step by step how this myth was created and why it is collapsing now. This is no small feat, especially in a relatively short book (225 pages) which is very well written and accessible to everyone, not just military specialists.
Martyanov takes a systematic and step-by-step approach: first, he defines military power, then he explains where the myth of US military superiority came from and how the US rewriting of the history of WWII resulted in a complete misunderstanding, especially at the top political levels, of the nature of modern warfare. He then discusses the role ideology and the Cold War played in further exacerbating the detachment of US leaders from reality. Finally, he demonstrates how a combination of delusional narcissism and outright corruption resulted in a US military capable of wasting truly phenomenal sums of money on “defense” while at the same time resulting in an actual force unable to win a war against anything but a weak and defenseless enemy.
That is not to say that the US military has not fought in many wars and won. It did, but in the words of Martyanov:
Surely when America fought against a third-rate adversary it was possible to rain death from the skies, and then roll over its forces, if any remained by that time, with very little difficulty and casualties. That will work in the future too against that type of adversary—similar in size and flimsiness of Iraqi Forces circa 2003. But Ledeen’s Doctrine had one major flaw—one adult cannot continue to go around the sandbox constantly fighting children and pretend to be good at fighting adults.
The main problem for the USA today is that there are very few of those third-rate adversaries left out there and that those who the USA is trying to bring to submission now are either near-peer or even peer adversaries. Martyanov specifically lists the factors which make that kind of adversary so different from those the USA fought in the past:
- Modern adversaries have command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities equal to or better than the US ones.
- Modern adversaries have electronic warfare capabilities equal to or better than the US ones
- Modern adversaries have weapon systems equal to or better than the US ones.
- Modern adversaries have air defenses which greatly limit the effectiveness of US airpower.
- Modern adversaries have long-range subsonic, supersonic and hypersonic cruise missiles which present a huge threat to the USN, bases, staging areas and even the entire US mainland.
In the book, all these points are substantiated with numerous and specific examples which I am not repeating here for the sake of brevity.
One could be forgiven for not being aware of any of these facts, at least if one considers the kind of nonsense written by the US corporate media or, for that matter, by the so-called “experts” (another interesting topic Martyanov discusses in some detail). Still, one can live in an imaginary world only as long as reality does not come crashing in, be it in the form of criminally overpriced and useless weapon systems or in the form of painful military defeats. The current hysteria about Russia as the Evil Mordor which is the culprit for everything and anything bad (real or imaginary) happening to the USA is mostly due to the fact that Russia, in total contradiction to all the “expert” opinions, not only did not crash or turn into a “gas station masquerading as a country” with her economy “in tatters”, but succeeded in developing a military which, for a small fraction of the US military budget, successfully developed armed forces which are in reality far more capable than the US forces. I realize that this last statement is quite literally “unthinkable” for many Americans and I submit that the very fact that this is so literally unthinkable greatly contributed to making this possible in the first place: when you are so damn sure that by some kind of miracle of history, or God’s will, or Manifest Destiny or any other supernatural reason, you are inherently and by definition superior and generally “better” than everybody else you are putting yourself in great danger of being defeated. This is as true for Israel as it is for the USA. I would also add that in the course of the West’s history this “crashing in of reality” in the comfy world of narcissistic delusion often came in the form of a Russian soldier defeating the putatively much superior master race of the day (from the Crusaders to the Nazis). Hence the loathing which western ruling elites always had for everything Russian.
In this book, Martyanov explains why, in spite of the absolutely catastrophic 1990s, the Russians succeeded in developing a modern and highly capable combat force in a record time. There are two main reasons for this: first, unlike their US counterparts, Russian weapons are designed to kill, not to make money and, second, Russians understand warfare because they understand what war really is. This latest argument might look circular, but it is not: Russians are all acutely aware of what war really means and, crucially, they are actually willing to make personal sacrifices to either avoid or, at least, win wars. In contrast, US Americans have no experience of real warfare (that is warfare in defense of their own land, family and friends) at all. For US Americans warfare is killing the other guy in his own country, preferably from afar or above, while making a ton of money in the process. For Russians, warfare is simply about surviving at any and all cost. The difference couldn’t be greater.
The difference in weapons systems acquisition is also simple: since US wars never really put the people of the USA at risk, the consequences of developing under-performing weapons systems were never catastrophic. The profits made, however, were immense. Hence the kind of criminally overpriced and useless weapons system like the F-35, the Littoral Combat Ship or, of course, the fantastically expensive and no less fantastically vulnerable aircraft carriers. The Russian force planners had very different priorities: not only did they fully realize that the failure to produce an excellently performing weapons system could result in their country being devastated and occupied (not to mention their families and themselves either enslaved or killed), they also realized that they could never match the Pentagon in terms of spending. So what they did was to design comparatively much cheaper weapons systems which could destroy or render useless the output of the multi-trillion dollar US military-industrial complex. This is how Russian missiles made the entire US ABM program and the US carrier-centric Navy pretty much obsolete as well as how Russian air defenses turned putatively “invisible” US aircraft into targets or how Russian diesel-electric submarines are threatening US nuclear attack subs. All that at a tiny fraction of what the US taxpayer spends on “defense”. Here again, Martyanov gives plenty of detailed examples.
Martyanov’s book will deeply irritate and even outrage those for whom the US narcissistic culture of axiomatic superiority has become an integral part of their identity. But for everybody else this book is an absolute must-have because the future of our entire planet is at stake here: the question is not whether the US Empire is collapsing, but what the consequences of this collapse will be for our planet. Right now, the US military has turned into a “hollow force” which simply cannot perform its mission, especially since that mission is, as defined by US politicians, the control of the entire planet. There is a huge discrepancy between the perceived and the actual capabilities of the US military and the only way to bridge this gap are, of course, nuclear weapons. This is why the last chapter in the book is entitled “The Threat of a Massive American Military Miscalculation”. In this chapter, Martyanov names the real enemy of both the Russian and the American people – the US political elites and, especially, the Neocons: they are destroying the USA as a country and they are putting all of mankind at risk of nuclear annihilation.
The above summary does not do justice to Martyanov’s truly seminal book. I can only say that I consider this book as an absolutely indispensable “must read” for every person in the USA who loves his/her country and for every person who believes that wars, especially nuclear ones, must be avoided at all costs. Just like many others (I think of Paul Craig Roberts), Martyanov is warning us that “the day of reckoning is upon us” and that the risks of war are very real, even if for most of us such an event is also unthinkable. Those in the USA who consider themselves patriots should read this book with special attention, not only because it correctly identifies the main threat to the USA, but also because it explains in detail what circumstances have resulted in the current crisis. Waving (mostly Chinese made) US flags is simply not an option anymore, neither is looking away and pretending that none of this is real. Martynov’s book will also be especially interesting to those in the US armed forces who are observing the tremendous decline of US military power from inside. Who better than a former Soviet officer could not only explain, but also understand the mechanisms which have made such a decline possible?

“Russia […] succeeded in developing a military which, for a small fraction of the US military budget, successfully developed armed forces which are in reality far more capable than the US forces.”
case in point (from https://thesaker.is/preliminary-peace/#comment-536735):
“one has to keep in mind a simple fact:
in 2016 the Russian intervention in Syria costed about $500 millions
in the same year, the US army costs for marching bands was $1 billion”
You are welcome.
The hypertrophied US military budget is a vast ocean of corruption, the real driving force of the US elites. The ruling classes in the USA always treated the populace as dumb, brainwashed, suckers, but once the ranks of the Bosses came to be dominated by the Zionazis who control the dominant financial apparatus, and who have an active antipathy towards others millennia old and undiminished, the social savagery grew markedly. Wealth, poverty, inequality, garbage jobs, huge indebtedness, crippling medical costs or the simple unavailability of medical services, homelessness, decades long wage stagnation, poisoned water supplies, the re-emergence of ‘black lung’ among coal-miners-you could go on all day with the symptoms of a social sickness unto death surely unprecedented outside of internal revolution, civil war (surely coming) or a losing war or invasion.
The same happen to Ancient Rome and look what happened to it in the end .
Arthur-please don’t wish for that. It took the Roman Empire 1000 years, until 1453, to fall after the sack of Rome. And Rome took over much of the world through the ‘Church’ still ensconced there. If the USA takes even a thousand weeks to disappear from here, we’ll all be ruined. To put it lightly. Let’s pray that it will be swift and merciful, and the new states that emerge from the bubbling effluent of the good old US of A learn some lessons from the Empire’s auto-destruction.
Yes the lessons of Rome need to be remembered, including the fact a geological event brought it down in 535 (aka David Keys). But I was talking about Rome ending in 600 AD not in 1453 when the Islamic hoards sacked eastern Europe (reminds you of EU today doesnt it ?). Then someone like Vlad in Romania was assigned to deal with it – could a modern day Vlad be somewhere around today I wonder ?
Did you know the USGS is currently observing increased earthquake activity ? And alarms bells are quietly ringing. Hawaii. NB Yellowstone’s capacity. Imagine what Vesuvius would do to Europe and ME is wind blows the wrong way ?
This tells us the enemy may not always be what it would appear.
Then theres the time traveller from 2038 who said US will split up into 5 regions.
Chaos is approaching I suspect so its time to get smart.
Chief amongst those few remaining third-rate potetial adversarues is the US populace. Seriously oppose this criminality and watch how fast it rains death from the sky here before rolling over us.
Already happened in the last time there was ‘serious opposition’ to all of this.
The corporate media doesn’t talk about it, and AFAIK there aren’t any Hollywood blockbusters about it, but the Philadelphia police bombed the house of a bunch of activists called “MOVE” for raising ‘serious opposition’ to a corrupt and brutal Philadelphia police force and city. They dropped a bomb from a helicopter onto the house. End result, 11 dead, including 5 children , and 65 homes destroyed in the resulting fire.
The American History that is not told includes that bombing, the assasinations of Bobby Kennedy and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr by the American ‘deep state’, the shooting of peaceful protestors at Kent State, the killings of leaders of the Black Panthers and more. Any American who doesn’t think they’ll do the same again or much worse needs to learn that history.
Do not forget WACO and Ruby Ridge. But these were not the first, nor the last.
The UN and thus of course the Clintons have always had an agenda against the 2nd Amendment. For this agenda to be implemented, there had to gun massacres, not only in the US, but also the UK Australia, Canada and New Zealand.
In Australia we had an American, Rebecca Peters lead the NCGC. She was also a political advocate for gun control who served as Director of the International Action Network on Small Arms (IANSA).
It was only after firearm registration was legalised that Australia started to have ‘Gun massacres’. In Australia’s most famous ‘Gun Massacre’, the ‘patsy’ Martin Bryant was drinking coffee at Fawcett as per witness statements when the first shooting began at Seascape Cottage at 10.30am.
However it was at the ‘Broad Arrow Café’ in the Historical Site that things went badly wrong. According to the DDP, Damien Bugg, the shooter shot four different people in four different position in .83 seconds with a .223 AR-15. Of the approximate 32 ASIO officers at the Port Arthur Historical site, three were shot in the Broad Arrow Café and another four were shot at the tollbooth. Of the American Intel group there were 6 members including Dennis Olsen who was shot with a shotgun inside the Broad Arrow Café.
It was though, the massacre at Dunblane that received the best coverage. All the victims were shot by a single Browning automatic. When the first policeman, an off-duty uniformed constable arrived at the school with his young son, and heard of the shooting the policeman and the school Head Master, went immediately to the school gym where the policeman saw the school janitor, John Currie with a second Browning automatic pistol in his possession and the body of Thomas Hamilton still going through its death throes. The policeman stated that he only saw the two Browning pistols near the body of Thomas Hamilton, But Hamilton had been shot through the mouth with a Smith & Wesson revolver, that was not at the scene at that time.
Sandra Uttley’s book, “Dunblane unburied” gives the best coverage of this controlled massacre.
Then there was the ‘School Massacre’ at Erfurt in Germany in 2002, where the first policeman to arrive at the scene was shot in the chest and killed supposedly by a pistol from about 300′. The student gunman then apparently shot himself, but there was though another student who was unequivocal who stated that he saw the gunman run away from the school. That student was later suicided.
Gun control groups are in fact simple lobbyists, but to gain power for their agendas they need massacres, and school massacres are the most powerful. The gun control lobbyists in Australia, Roland Browne and Samantha Lee told us that back in 2006. Ave the UN! (not!)
Politically, I was raised on the Left, because that’s where the wave of anti-empire, anti-fascism that arose in the 1960’s was located, in opposition to the pro-Empire Republicans. But I always had a huge problem with the Gun Control stance of the Democrats.
I always read the Second Amendment of the Constitution from the point of view of a radical and revolutionary seeing the words of the earlier revolutionaries who had stood up to the Empire of their day, and won. After they won, they put into place the revolutionary statement that their power to revolt should never again be taken from them.
“A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”
The Democrats always hark on the first part. Since they’ve put the National Guard firmly under the control of the powerful central government that is the empire of these days, they claim that this meets the needs of this statement of liberty and that otherwise the people have no right to keep and bear arms.
And yet, these are obviously the words of revolutionaries who know that the American Revolution against the British was sparked by an incident of gun control. The colony of Massachusettes was in armed revolt by the end of 1775. Under the Punative Acts, King George had erased the local democracy in the colony, and tried to send out his own appointed officials to take power. They were met by large armed mobs who sent them packing. As fall and winter arrived, the King sent more royal troops to Boston. Meanwhile, the colonists started to stockpile arms, ammunition and a few cannon in anticipation of the King’s response to their revolution. When spring time arrived in Boston, the King’s general sent his now reinforced royal troops out from Boston to raid the colonist’s arms caches in towns known as Lexington and Concorde. This of course led to the firing of the Shots Heard Round the World.
Those revolutionaries knew the importance of keeping a King from seizing the arms with which they could defend themselves. In the amendment, you can see the committee process and the forces of evil centralization of power and government in the addition of that first part that today’s rulers want to use to send out the troops and sieze the arms and ammunition. But the words of the revolutionaries still exist in the second part which is more well known, the right to keep and bear arms.
It is amazing the amount of control that our ‘betters’ have utilised to keep the sheep under the control of the shepherds who are under the control of ‘their’ masters.
Us poor colonials were told that it was the sacrifices from Gallipoli through to Flanders fields that made Australia a nation. And we believed that drivel. And then we find out that our masters gave the very same cock and bull story to the Canadians. And we believed them! How stupid could we have been.
For those that survived, they gave us the RSL (Returned Soldiers League) with the motto ‘Lest we forget’ and blow me down they had already forgotten! It was our governments who sent them off to fight people who never had any animosity against us. When they got the opportunity to end the war in 1916, Lloyd George ignored it and had the poor Americans come in to join the sacrifices. The Balfour Declaration told us virtually everything, especially when they boasted of the input ‘they’ had in creating that document, oops, sorry. that letter.
And those that did remember read Marx!
Americans may boast of having the finest Military force in the world. It is a boast, simply that. They have the technology, that is until it breaks down. They have the equipment, but again that has normally been mass-produced inferior equipment that meant their soldiers had to sacrifice themselves in greater numbers. America has its officer class, educated at West Point and Annapolis who are continually betrayed by big business and corrupt leaders and politicians, especially the politicians.
The American’s excuse for the Vietnam war was that it was to be a ‘training’ ground for war against the USSR. Some bloody training ground, and even that war they managed to lose. They attacked the Russians who were invited into Afghanistan, and then 20 years later made the exact same mistake. They fomented war in Chechnya, which proved to be one of the best training grounds for the Russian forces, and the Chechnyans have become some of the best anti-terrorist fighters because of that American interference.
Similar outcomes have occurred in Iraq and in Syria where the locals have learnt to survive and how to fight and have been toughened to a point where they will not be defeated, the exact reason the Americans gave for going into Vietnam. I am appalled at the arrogance, the stupidity and the forgetfulness of the American hierarchy, and their errors continue; their equipment even to this day is still second rate which permits more of their fighting forces to be killed.
And I guess that is why the 2nd Amendment has been attacked, The American Rebecca Peters made it the very first of her 10 points in the removal of firearms in Australia; ‘Self Protection is not a valid reason to own a firearm.’ But the biggest threat today to the American is their own Federal government which has usurped the rights and freedoms of the ‘United’ states.
My understanding is that the amendments were necessary in order to get the second constitution ratified, which ratification is questionable, such that the first constitution is seem by some legalistic folk as the actual USC.
But in re the one we speak of, the one that B43 called “just a G-dm’d piece of paper”…
Anyway, one may see the Bill of Rights as a concession that the elite always understood could be “withdrawn” as soon as the distribution of power permitted. The States wanted their own militia, as there was no significant standing army, and who wouldn’t want a gun under the circumstances? Times have changed, and power has shifted. Militia is defined in USC10, by statute. It’s worth reading, as second amendment dovetails to it.
I understand that is has been established that at the present time the ordinary people have nearly zero political power. This is obvious, as their lordships claim the right to murder anybody on earth…one at a time or all at once.
And of course any association their lordships don’t like is outlawed…using RICO and worse…and civil seizure…essentially kidnapping, extortion, murder – for obvious reasons. So yer on yer own…
Honestly, it looks like comrade Fidel was right when he wrote that the time for weapons was past. Not that I expect the prognostication will be significant, people will have weapons – it’s natural law – so “gun control” efforts fail to stop conflict, and logically creates it all the more,
Maybe that’s the goal, they’re not stupid, just delusional creeps.
I think you may find the answers to Americas future in its past. When the USSR collapsed and left the US as the last surviving Superpower in 1990, the prophesy was that the US had to suffer a similar fate as that of the USSR. We see that now coming to fruition. The problem though for the US is that its implosion will be much more violent than what happened in the USSR.
It is also interesting to note that both China and Russia are behaving in such a manner as to restrict the damage that will be caused by the US collapse on the rest of the world, and I believe on the Americans themselves.
For the effects of the oncoming collapse of the US I believe we should again look back at the previous Rebellion in the US, that is their ‘War of Independence’, and understand just exactly what happened there.
To do this one should study the US history in regard to the aftermath and definitely consider Shays’ Rebellion. At this point of history we find that most of the soldiers of Washington’s army were not properly paid, and that taxes and rates continued to usurp the commoner’s wealth and property.
In the words of Des Saaghy, a former Hungarian Major in WW2, he asked an old Russian of the difference between the old Tsarist government and the Stalin government. Apparently the old Russian replied; “Same trough, new pigs”.
I think you will find in the near future a similar fate for the US.
As one old blackfella said of John Howard when he pretended to be ‘concerned’ over the fate of Aboriginal children-‘New skin-same old snake’.
I bet you didn’t say that to Little Johnny when you went to visit him as the member for Bennelong back in 91and passed on Rupert Murdoch’s message in regard to resurrecting his political career.
That’s between me and the ‘Dirty Digger’, amigo.
I believe that we are in close agreement, though it is argued by some that the “real” revolutionary war was that of 1812.
Shay and similar (John Brown etc etc) are “suppressed” history for most… That may suggest what it is that “They” fear…eh?
In America anybody can say anything….once.
And increasing climate of violence, murder of unarmed civilians (especially minorities) perpetrated by a militarized IDF-trained police force, Is an example of what you described above.
Think of the Canadian Professor, Michel Chossudovsky and what he told us back on the 24th July 2005 in regard to the murder of the Brazilian electrician,Jean Charles de Menezes, in the Stockwell underground Station.
British Cops trained in Israel. “Operation Kratos”: London Met Police Special Operations Unit “Shoot to Kill”.
Personally, I don’t have to look that far: my CPA’s son Bijan, himself a successful businessman living in the most expensive county in the entire US, was shut dead while driving too fast to get to a birthday party. An Uber drive had bumped against the BACK bumper of his large SUV behind a red light without causing any damage to either cars (likely without him even feeling it).
For unclear reasons the Park Police (with mission to guard parks, not hunt humans https://wtop.com/fairfax-county/2018/01/fairfax-county-police-release-video-fatal-park-police-shooting/ ) starts a chase that ends up sending with him emptying 9 bullets into Bijan, sending him to a morgue instead of a birthday party ( https://wtop.com/tag/bijan-ghaisar ).
This young Iranian-American US citizen, born in US, with an impeccable reputation a very successful businessman, living in the most upperclass county (Great Falls) in the US, without any trace of illegal substances use, not affiliated with any political grouping, was slaughtered and the US government is still refusing ( https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/true-crime/wp/2018/04/06/federal-officials-refuse-meeting-on-park-police-slaying-of-bijan-ghaisar-move-to-stop-release-of-911-tape/?noredirect=on&utm_term=.65a379ca5ad9 ) to release the Killer-Police’s name let alone allow for a speedy trial.
Nowadays, if you are a minority, your drive home to a birthday party, can ended up in a funeral home, thanks to Police who is supposed to serve and protect (apparently only the master race) ( https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/park-police-killed-a-young-man-in-virginia-since-then-four-months-of-silence/2018/04/01/24367d0e-2c81-11e8-8ad6-fbc50284fce8_story.html?utm_term=.dca69a893379 ).
How tragic! My deepest condolences as one father to another.
I do not blame the police for this one.
He put life of other people in danger just to not get a ticket.
The risk of being shoot was made by the driver.
I myself, white native-born, and old, have been threatened by cops with shotgun or pistol more times than I can count…a twitch of the trigger from dead…merely luck I am alive. They always have a round chambered…which is an aggressive and dangerous protocol that telegraphs their mindset clear as a bell… Never arrested, but beat-up and kidnapped by cops too. I was an eagle scout…it was not me myself – I was never a criminal, this was because the cops acted they way they did…and it’s far worse today.
I too have lost a son. Condolences.
The Sages tell us that justice, justice, must be pursued,,,surely it is unjust for cops to chase and thus endanger the public…perhaps our brother Zico might also claim that the cop ought to have shot himself for his crime?
Real cops have told me they do not try very hard to catch speeders…because they do not want to hurt anybody, especially themselves, and because after a time they have had to witness the bloody mess, and didn’t like it at all. How time change, now it’s ok to murder somebody for endangering alone?
That’s pretty far out, brother.
I served 17 years and 16 days in the Victoria Police Farce in Australia. When I joined in 1968 it was not a necessity to go armed, and the firearms that were on issue were old and decrepit. However so many police watched the police shows on the tellie, which instructed both the police and the criminals how to behave.
I myself didn’t really prefer to go armed for two reasons, firstly I had a temper, which was not good, and secondly I had a better tool, my mouth. I also noted the wide variety of types within the police farce, there were definitely some extremely good, right across the spectrum to the extremely bad, a couple of whom I have also met, and they frightened me.
In the 1990’s a LAPD policeman Jack McLamb tried to warn both America and Australia of the threat emanating from the Federal government in regard to takeover of State police forces. He published a book, which I think was called ‘Operation Vampire’. His warnings failed and Australia’s quasi-military police were created and controlled out of the Attorney Generals Department in Canberra.
From 1984 (The Milperra Father’s Day massacre) to 2003 (The Monash University shooting) all the shootings/massacres were planned and executed by the PSCC from within the Federal AG’s dept. with the AIC (Australian Institute of Criminology) doing all the propaganda and MOU’s with the UN. That is why the American liberals have turned to the former New Zealand Disc Jockey, Philip Alpers to assist in their latest massacres.
When we/you have a police farce that lies, threatens and murders the civilians within our society then they are nothing but a bunch of criminals, and the politicians that support those criminal actions are accessories before and after the fact.
And it is police corruption to protect and support those criminals who wear a police uniform.
Don’t continue insulting the name of a great footballer with your callous inhumanity.
I have no doubt significant retribution for all this is coming soon.
All the things A.MG has outlined above has already caused the political collapse in Australia with the end of the Liberal Party on the near horizon (and Rupert wont be able to do anything to save it as his empire is also in state of decay), and those responsible will be dealt with in the end, one way or another.
Currently powerful unseen forces are at work which will bring to justice the whole network behind all this agenda of evil. Some of those forces have already supplied and disclosed information that has done substantial damage to those forces of darkness.
Exposing the guilty is the best approach to start with.
This is just an opinion.
There are 2 sides of the same history always.
Almost nothing justify shooting in a person not carrying a gun. But you must admit that the driver decision making was poor.
Said that, 9 shoots seems excessive and they also did not tried to shoot the tires.
My condolences to his family.
Well, in my opinion, that is far more seemly. For what it’s worth, your first comment, in my opinion, was an opinion best left unsaid, but making amends is surely the decent thing to have done. One rarely sees it these days, people mistaking stubbornness for principle or strength, so it is always encouraging to see such second thoughts expressed.
Well, let’s see.
Should we consider the former Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak and his $US1billion ‘gift from the Saudi Royal family’ with his latest situation of being arrested for corruption.
Also consider Razak’s situation in context with the MH370 event, which had been planned by the retired head of the CIA, General David Petraeus. A similar situation also explains MH17
And then finally Russian Flight 9268 which was shot down over the Sinai by ISIS.
I think these all qualify for an “increasing climate of violence, murder of unarmed civilians” a method used by Zionists since before Deir Yassin.
Re Russian Flight 9268 shot down over the Sinai, I recall vividly two reports on British national TV where Philip Hammond, then Foreign Secretary, gleefully and self-incriminatingly stated “THAT will teach the Russians a lesson…”
The British government was happy to see a Russian civilian airliner downed as Russia was stepping up its involvement in Syria…
It was long known in Britain that the British SAS were training ISIS in the Sinai. (Never understood whether the Egyptian government knew about this or whether the Israelis assisted in keeping the Egyptian military from the site…)
Second piece of evidence is the self-incrimination of David Cameron when he was asked by a TV reporter if he knew anything about the incident and he stated (even before the investigators had reached the crash site) that he knew exactly where the bomb had been planted on the aircraft….
No surprises there, if the SAS had been training ISIS in such methods…
For that alone, the Russians have de-facto the full right to eliminate Cameron…
David Cameron was addressing the Israeli Knesset on the 12th of March 2014, 4 days after MH370 went missing. All David Cameron could tell the Israeli parliament was of his great Jewish Grandfather, but nothing of the prepared war against Iran and the NATO takeover of Crimea.
The British Prime Minister was well aware that the target of the ‘Terrorist Attack’ mission of MH370 was the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge honeymooning in The Maldives. The assassination of Britain’s future king and queen was supposed to be the UK’s version of 911 and David Cameron was okay with that.
Put this event into comparison with the Skripal and the latest ‘poisoning’ hoaxes, and one can see how far the hidden hand of government in the UK has degenerated. And of course Rothschilds are still celebrating their ‘Balfour Declaration’.
I am open to the idea mooted about MH370 and the royalcouple…but it’s entirely new to me.
Can you kindly suggest sources? I should like to know more… It’s crazy enough to be true,,,
I suspect the plane landed at Diego G…there was some evidence for that…
I had the article ‘Understanding the tyranny of terrorism’ first published on James Tracey’s website; the memoryhole blog, but it soon disappeared. However I do believe it is still out there an another site and can be found on Google. The article is over three years old and I have updated my own version since then.
The disinformation that MH370 emanated from two sources, Jim Stone and Yoichi Shimatsu, and once you examine the writing styles (syntax) you should realise that they are the same writer. Clear logic should also tell you that Diego Garcia would never be seen to be involved in a ‘terrorist attack’ The only aircraft that may have landed at Diego Garcia would have been the 747 seen flying over the Maldives at a very low height apparently to avoid commercial radar.
There is one other thing that you should realise in regards to MH370 and why it hasn’t been found. Most of those involved, as well as those that intercepted MH370, that is, the various Intelligence Services as well as the heads of government are well aware of what happened.
America and the Obama admin are aware, Their CIA and their FBI are also well aware as they ran the psy-ops. Great Britain, David Cameron and MI6 are very well aware, and that is demonstrated by the BBC news especially from their Persian Correspondent. Saudi Arabia knows as they paid for the psy-ops and then one of their passenger liners flew over MH370 as it lay on the water near the Andaman Islands in the Bay of Bengal. The Malaysian government were well aware as their Prim Minister accepted the monies from Saudi Arabia and that is documented as well as two Malaysian Radar stations, Kota Baru and Butterworth followed the flight path of MH370 as well as one of the Thai military radars. China is well aware of what happened to its civilians on board, and Russian Intel who intercepted the hi-jacked MH370 and landed it in the Andaman Sea in the Bay of Bengal, and that is demonstrated by the Australian company GeoResonance from South Australia (https://au.news.yahoo.com/sa/a/23036893/exploration-company-believes-it-may-have-found-mh370/ ).
The company that monitors the Rolls Royce engines know exactly where Mh370 landed and stayed afloat for many hours as they received the signals emitted by those engines.
The only people who don’t know are the friends and relatives, the ordinary people who suffered from this atrocious psy-ops.
And finally, once you realise the total story behind MH370 you will also understand that the Russians were well aware of all of the plans and had plenty of time to prepare a counter strategy in the Crimea.
Thank you very kindly. I will read with care.
A point to clarify… You wrote: “…board, and Russian Intel who intercepted the hi-jacked MH370 and landed it in the Andaman Sea in the Bay of Bengal…”
Shall we understand that the Russians landed MH370 in the sea?
I find claim that somewhat incongruous. But we may discuss the matter more profitably after I do some follow-up reading and websearch.
(Dear Mod, as Andrew regards this article on Terrorism to be “endangered”, so to say, you may desire to permit it here appended, or not. Whatever’s right with you is fine with me. Delete it if you wish)
Dear Irrelevant. The link is alive. Readers can go there to read the article. Thanks for your understanding. Mod.
Please remember that this article was written back in 2014. Since then I found articles in regard to the Malaysian PM and his ‘gifts’ from the Saudi Royal Family, originally reported by the Australian ABC as $681million it later expanded to $US1billion.
Another realisation that was pointed out to me was that for the Malaysian housewife to have seen MH370 in the water was that the aircraft had to have been ordered to deviate from the normal route and fly over the scene to verify the fact. That then explains why that when the housewife reported her sighting to the stewardess, the stewardess simply closed her window and told her to go to sleep. In simple words the air-crew were aware of what was in the water below.
Then when you study the actions of General Petraeus and Lt. Col. Paula Broadwell, it becomes apparent that Broadwell was the liaison officer between Petraeus and James Yacone of the FBI. This then illuminates the role played by Tamerlan Tsarnaev and his trip to Dagestan, a region neighbouring Chechnya and Georgia in 2012, and why he was set up for the Boston Bombing.
The last I heard of Petraeus was that he was warning Australia of the perils of ISIS in the Philippines (Mindanao) and of course it doesn’t take much to realise that ISIS was a payback for the Philippines President calling Obama a ‘Son of a bitch’
I read the mooted materials. I accept that the theory proposed by Andrew seems plausible. I do not observe that more than circumstantial evidence is proffered. Particularly the connection to William et ux being a target for 911 2,0 in a project ruined by Ivans seems more speculative than proved.
Probable? Well, the question seems established as a fair hypothetical thesis to attempt to confirm.
My gut feeling? Andy’s probably about right.
Thanks to Andrew.
If a man is murdered does it matter if he was armed or not?
I point this question because the oft-repeated “unarmed victim” implies that it’s somehow ok to murder a man that is armed…at least for the cops.
Bad Elk case established that it is lawful to resist an unlawful arrest, with deadly force if that’s what it takes.
I think the definition of ‘murder’ would be ‘the unlawful taking of a life. It’s fairly simple. I can recall at least five cases where policemen were murdered, and of course they were ‘armed’. I can also recall instances where police have committed murder, but of course the coroner accepted the old story that the police at the time feared for their life. Of course it has also been known for policemen to lie even under oath.
I am not aware of the ‘Bad Elk case’, but believe me it has always been lawful to resist an unlawful arrest, the key being with only reasonable force. However reasonable force has never been ‘properly’ defined as it is impossible to do so, ergo reasonable force has to be held as being sufficient force as to withstand the assault.
In regards to your other post, may I thank you, as well as point out that there were a couple of points that I could not mention for obvious reasons. May I also thank the Moderators for their patience.
And on a final point, be aware of the very good news out of Thailand this evening as the last of the soccer team have been rescued.
Excellent article. I would like to point out the following:
The US Military Industrial Complex is in private hands, while the Russian is under Government control. This means that the US military is at the mercy of private contractors. This also means the US military gets less for more money spent while the Russian military gets more for less money spent. The Russian Government ensures that the Russian military gets quality, like the S-400 and S-500 missile systems, the best in the world. American products are grossly overpriced and overrated. For example, one Israeli general has stated
that the efficiency of the Patriot missile system amounts to a mere 2 %, the system having trouble hitting targets and having a nasty habit of making 180 degree turns and returning to those who fired it.
We also have the question of education. Russian university education is free, producing highly talented engineers. American university education is meant for those who can afford it. The US student debt at the beginning of 2018 was 1,5 trillion dollars. The US had 6 trillion dollars to waste in Iraq and Afghanistan, but not the money to educate it’s young people. It is now paying the price for this, seeing others produce higher quality products.
Both Wall Street and the Washington political elite have fallen into the psychological trap of thinking that the US military and US weapons systems are the best in the world, because the US Defense Budget is the largest in the world, being more than 10 times the size of the Russian one. However, has anybody in the US asked the question where all that money goes. How much of it is appropriated by the Military Industrial Complex for questionable, grossly overpriced weapons systems ? How much of that money is spent maintaining the 700 combat bases and 300 supply bases America has outside the US, not to mention bases inside the US ? These are just some examples.
We then have the question of NATO. The US provides the bulk of NATO troops, as well as covering the bulk of it’s expenses. Why does NATO exist ? Why do 400 military bases surround Russia ? What were the Western elites hoping for ?
When the Warsaw Pact collapsed in 1989, NATO should have been disbanded and a heap of money saved, so it could be invested in infrastructure. It was not. NATO was joined by the EU, which is it’s civilian component. Both marched towards the East. Both pulled that coup d’etat against Yanukovich in 2014, hoping to drag Ukraine into both the EU and NATO, so that NATO missile systems could be placed against Russias borders.
The biggest disappointment for Western elites was that Russia did not implode. They were hoping that Russia could be broken up, so that NATO could march in via Ukraine and establish “democracy”. After that Western corporations would also march in, plundering the country, as they did under Yeltsin reign. It did not come to that, as things took a different path.
We now have a situation where the US has the largest foreign and domestic debt in the world, while the dollar is printed backed by nothing. Worse, the US elite is watching the rise of Russia and China, who established the BRICS, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Eurasian Economic Union and the Silk Road. Worse, both are preparing to introduce gold backed currencies.Totally unexpected.
The US has now found itself in a situation where a solution to it’s ambitions does not exist. It is seeing the rise of the East, with Europe looking towards it. Washington has responded with threats, even against the EU, hoping to achieve something. It has not, alienating it’s own European allies.
The biggest danger in this present situation is that both Wall Street and the Washington political elite are living in the past, thinking they have more power and credibility than they do. Worse, there are crazies on Wall Street who think that Russia can be defeated in a sneak nuclear attack with minimal losses to the US. I sincerely hope the Pentagon does not think so.
Finally, we have a huge psychological problem as far as the US goes. It’s under the control of the neocons who have globalist, imperial ambitions. They are seeing their empire collapse. Of course, they refuse to accept this fact, doing more of the same and wasting more money in the process, just like the Roman elite did to preserve it’s empire. The Roman elite saw it’s empire collapse right before it’s eyes. Before the Vandals appeared before the gates of Rome, the elite was the first to flee the city, moving to Venice, which back then was an island. The same thing is happening in the US with it’s elite. For years the Internet has provided articles and pictures of the US elite making getaway preparations, buying up real estate outside major US cities, as well as in foreign countries. New Zealand and Tasmania have become very popular. When the time comes for the US elite to flee, it will leave behind the mess it created to the impoverished citizens of the US, just like the Roman elite did to the impoverished citizens of Rome. And how did the impoverished citizens of Rome respond ? They opened the gates of Rome to the Vandals, whom they saw as liberators. That’s what happens to a country controlled by an elite whose only loyalty is to itself.
Don’t forget to ask how much of the military budget goes to maintaining and operating its 234 golf courses. It is obviously vital that no general nor admiral ever be without a golf course.
My favorite example of wasting money was when the US Army spent 50.000 dollars on an experiment to see if African elephants can detect mines. I don’t know what the results were.
27 elephants died, due to mine explosion wounds. 28 maimed for life. about a 100 suffer PTSD.
leaving behind wives and orphans…
acording to VES (Veteran Elephants Association)
sorry my black humor.
Saw an old naval joke the other day ……
“Any ship can act as a mine-sweeper. Once.”
Similar to another old submariner joke. The difference between a submarine and a surface ship is not that the submarine can dive. It is that the submarine can surface.
Heinlein said that the definition of an elephant was “a mouse built to government specifications”…and he was an engineer durch der krieg at some Luckup company, so he knew what he was talking about. I believe it was pressure suits for high altitude operations – “spacesuits” so to say.
Such a clear well-written summary. The parallels with Rome are evident, but the idea that the elite will flee leaving the US to the Vandals stumps me a bit as the elite themselves are acting as vandals, so who are they modern vandals?
Well to strain a metaphor, the radically aroused masses. Marx’s proletariat. The people. The capitalist rulers certainly fear them as vandals and know they have provoked their enmity.
Who are the modern vandals ? The US has many candidates for that role, bearing in mind analysts in the US are now divided in their opinions if the US will experience a “soft”, political civil war, or a “hot”, military one, of the type it had between 1861-1865. When US authorities started removing Confederate memorials in the US, I knew things would become interesting. Removing those memorials was very foolish, as all it did was remind people of the US Civil War.
Thanks for the replies. I wonder if I am looking in all the right places. In the US I mostly perceive various flavors of a very very dumbed down population. Except for the internet communities I visit where people are engaged in dialog and thoughtful consideration of the times, the people I engage with in daily life from the office to the seem to be in some form of a daze. II’m learning to identify the medicated ones by their palor and dull eyes). The lefty Trump haters are the most vocal organized group, obviously well funded by Soros and other alphabet wallets. They have the google-goggle, two faced facebook, and the demoncrats pulling their strings. This faction does worry me as they are incubating a tremendous and dangerous force of hatred in themselves and in the soul of the world. I feel they are capable of great damage reminiscent of hate week in 1984. Other than this, its hard for me to imagine where any sort of populace uprising would arise. The Vandals were pretty virile folk. Where do we see any remnant of this kind of sensibility??
I think the elites are quite far along in their plan for the US a nation of obedient amazon worker drones and pharmaceutical dependents. I can’t really believe I am saying all this as I am not a cynical person, and I do not hate people at all. I just greatly despair at the degenerating state of humanity.
We have had these types of people around for a long time. Banjo Paterson described them thus: ‘There were some gilded youths who sat along the barber’s wall, their heads were flat, their eyes were dull, they had no brains at all’. From ‘The man from Ironbark.
It was interesting to note a couple of years ago that some of the European junior elites started asking the Americans to ease off, as just like the Assimilationists of 1916, they didn’t want to end up like the Armenians.
The civil uprising/s may start from the most unexpected place, but I believe it will start, especially when the Western people realise that they are now totally owned and abused by their bureaucrats and governments.
NZ and Tassie, eh. Good luck with that working out well. Locals in both places are very well informed and northern accents stand out like dogs nuts.
Joe Vialls wrote about that back in about 2004.
Who was Joe Vialls? Joe led the MI6/CIA team that killed JFK, and Joe shot Officer JD Tippit as well as LHO.
Now before you decide to make a fool of yourself, firstly watch the shooting of LHO in the police basement garage, and note the gunman’s attire, including the cigar he handed to Officer William J Harrison. Then look at the photographs of Harrison leading Jack Ruby down the corridor of the third floor. The attire Jack Ruby was wearing then was completely different to the attire worn by the assassin, and of course Harrison has returned Joe’s cigar to Joe.
Harrison was left-handed. The gunman at the Grassy Knoll was left-handed, and the shooter from the Dell Tex building was the skinny man to the left of Harrison in the garage, who was called Miller by the Warren Commission but was actually Henry Ayres of Alaska, aka Alexander Henri Legault.
Joe’s last assignment was to play Kazam Ali for the MH370 event.
,,in 1989, NATO should have been disbanded and a heap of money saved, so it could be invested in infrastructure.”
By studying the ,,heartland and rimland theory” you’ll get answers why Russia has been attacked and treated this way for more than 150 years.
I don’t know if the book is immediately available from Clarity Press, as I—without thinking—put it on pre-order from Amazon. Damn. I can hardly wait to get it and read it.
Just one minor criticism of The Saker’s review: at least some Americans are at least descended from those who have firsthand experience of war on their home ground. I’m referring to Southerners, of course. General Sherman said “War is Hell,” but it was especially hell for the Southerners who endured his March to the Sea—and that’s only the most notorious example.
Unfortunately, instead of hating war, Southerners (by which I mean Southern whites in particular, of course) developed a curious reaction analogous to the Stockholm Syndrome, through which they began to love war as a chance to prove their manhood or something.
It’s too bad they/we don’t know enough of Greek mythology to remember that the Greek god of war, Ares, was a blustering adolescent fool, while the Greek goddess of war, Athena, was also the goddess of wisdom—much more akin to her rough contemporary in China, SunTzu. Oh well. As Santayana is credited with saying, “Those who don’t learn from history are doomed to repeat it.”
For those who like to read, a couple of worthwhile classics are The Arrogance of Power, by J. Wm. Fullbright and The March of Folly, by Barbara Tuchman.
I’d end with “God save the United States,” but my hunch is whatever god may be has given up on us. “As ye sow, so shall ye reap.” Like Cassandra, people such as Martyanov, The Saker, Dr. Roberts, Fullbright, and Tuchman, tried to tell us. “There is none so blind as he who WILL not see.”
Alfred McCoy’s “In The Shadows of the American Century” is an excellent recent book.
That goes back before the War of Northern Aggression. For instance, Tennesee was known as the ‘Volunteer State’ before that time from the number of volunteers who fought wars such as the War of 1812 and the Mexican War as well as Jackson’s Indian campaigns. Virginia was also already famous for some of the military leaders they had produced, including people like George Washington and Henry “Light Horse” Lee (father of a boy named Robert).
After the Yankees waged economic warfare on the South following the fighting, the South was like many of America’s poorer communities where military service was one of the few opportunities available and Southern politicians master the pork-barrel politics art of getting many military bases built in the South to provide money and at least some jobs.
Thanks, I will probably read the book, though the question for me is what results from defeat when it is seen to be defeat… Not the military matters, these seem established, but the political and emotion blow-back of perceived defeat in the field… We have the example of Imperial Germany, and the abortive revolution, counter-revolution (nazi) and the Ostpolitic that they pursued…
I remember an American Army that was pretty solid…but I was only a child…so who can say?
Many years later I left civilian employment with the US army, after 6 years, in 1992 – and at that time it was obvious the the officers were of very low quality… Worse, senior retired non-comms, the backbone of any army, were willing to, and did, (I know) turn their backs to senior active-duty officers, and walk out on them, leaving them to spout to an empty auditorium…
The soldiers I know are delusional – hardly a reliable basis for a soldier…delusions presage errors, and errors, defeat, no? Some navy fellas are good, but they’re retired…and disgusted…
Since then… well, the process is ongoing, is it not?
Me myself, I wonder what happens when the US sees it is defeated. (It was defeated in Vietnam, just fer starters… ) Note “sees”…it is the perception that matters. In fact it is already defeated…
Burning icons may be fun, but it always dangerous…
Mao (and Sun Tsu) say to avoid defeat run away…so you deny enemies victory and are free to fight more.
So I know what the Army will do… It will come home, and look for scapegoats… More helpless people to crush.
Like the Indians in the Western Deserts were crushed and hunted…
Is normal…pogroms are Murkin traditions…we call them lynchings, or Indian Wars, or “justice”…
The U.S. military reminds me of the Spanish Armada, another hubristic boondoggle.
The Spanish Armada was defeated by Nature, not by the English.
“Outlaw Historian”, I don’t know the history that well so you probably have the advantage over me, but allow me to suggest these comparisons:
1) Spain was bloated with plunder from the “New World”; was its society corrupted and weakened by its colonial activities?
2) After its defeat, did Spain cease to be a major power? If so, it had poor governance which threw its wealth away on the military instead of fostering society. Which sounds like America.
You are wrong
1 – Spain paid for this defeat in 1589 by the defeat of the English Drake armada
2 – according to the results of the Anglo-Spanish War (1585-1604), the conqueror was Spain
3 – England became a “great power” much later
4 – and in general the naval successes of England are greatly exaggerated and mythologized
Well, I don’t really knows enough about this subject to make an informed comparison so I should probably pose this as a question; did Spain around 1600 and the U.S. today suffer from similar weaknesses?
You seek a difficult comparison since the two empires are clearly an apple and an orange. There’s perhaps similarity in the basis for their ideologies. Wikipedia’s Spanish Empire page is quite good,https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanish_Empire I’ll direct your attention to this map, https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/cf/Diachronic_map_of_the_Spanish_Empire.svg
Pay attention to what the Spanish are doing in Europe and note the other empire they’re responsible for forming–Haspburg–and the attempt to conquer Italy. Also note the strategy employed–strategic marriage. One major difference is Spain never attempted to be a Naval Empire, although it certainly needed a fleet of ships to transport its imperial booty; rather, it was the English then the Americans prodded by Mahan to emulate, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alfred_Thayer_Mahan
Spain at 1600 had yet to reach its acme as an empire whereas the Outlaw US Empire is now in decline having passed its acme in the early 1970s when it was forced to abandon Bretton Woods and the gold standard it established. It then adopted neoliberalism as its parasitical method to continue to suck wealth and resources from weaker nations and thus continue the policy it adopted in 1947 for which the Cold War acted as cover. Neoliberalism has now run its course and the gross corruption of the US body politic it enabled is taking its toll. An excellent example is the hollowing-out of its space program–repeating the Apollo program wouldn’t be possible today!
Besides spanish hubris, I’d say english tecnhologic advance in their canons helped a lot.
spanish had Try loading a cannon in the outside of a rope while a battle is going on, whereas english had more cinematic cannons loaded by the crew inside yhe ship.
They had better training too.
Nature didnt help, but it was a matter of when, not if.
A country with defense spending annually of more than a $ 1,3 Trillion, will go bankrupt.
This book addresses Empire. It addresses the Hegemon. It addresses the missing experience by Americans of suffering from wars. It clearly compares the Liberal debacle that took down the British Empire.
What is truly interesting also is the author of the book:
ANDREI MARTYANOV is an expert on Russian military and naval issues. He was born in Baku, USSR in 1963. He graduated from the Kirov Naval Red Banner Academy and served as an officer on the ships and staff position of Soviet Coast Guard through 1990. He took part in the events in the Caucasus which led to the collapse of the Soviet Union. In mid-1990s he moved to the United States where he currently works as Laboratory Director of a commercial aerospace group.
He is a frequent blogger on the US Naval Institute Blog and on unz.com.
So US Naval Institute folks have read his views, yet the US Navy is the most messed up of all the services, producing collisions at sea, failed Littoral fleet, structural elements on ships failing, and most of the carrier task forces easy victims of Russian Electronic Warfare.
Some militaries are good a burying talent and innovation.
Prior to WW2, the leading theorists on tank warfare and how mechanized warfare would change war were a handful of officers in the British and French militaries. The one I am most familiar with is a Capt. Liddell Hart in the UK military. His was an unpopular position with the political generals who ran the UK army, and he was pushed aside. AFAIK, he never commanded a unit on the battlefield in WW2. He did work in intelligence, and had a role in interviewing captured German generals. He was consistently recognized by them, as it turns out that most of the generals operating the German blitzkrieg had all read his books. BTW, he was a good writer.
The same was true in the American military, where an officer named Billy Mitchell developed theories of using the bomber in warfare. He predicted and tried to get the Navy to recognize that the battleships that supposedly ruled the waves were very vulnerable to a bomber dropping armor-piercing shells from above. Very unpopular with the Navy admirals who were proud of their battleship commands and fought the political battles to get more and more money for them. IIRC, he was almost out of the military when the Japanese destroyed the battleship fleet at Pearl Harbor with an air attack.
My first reaction to the opening paragraph is to ask exactly when was the American military the “finest fighting force in history?”
It was not prior to WW2. Not at any time.
It was not that in WW2.
In WW2, both the Germans and the Japanese were better forces if matched against the Americans with equal strength. In both theaters, the US prevailed in the war by the industrial process of cracking out superior numbers. Especially air planes, but also tanks, carriers, guns, etc.
Korea didn’t really impress anyone.
Vietnam certainly did not impress anyone. It was a wonder that the US military didn’t experience a complete mutiny with a simultaneous revolt on the home front.
Grenada didn’t make the US the ‘finest fighting force in history’.
Yugoslavia didn’t show the US to be this.
Iraq didn’t show the US to be this.
The numerous other wars and actions of this recent time don’t show this.
The US has tended to have technological superiority over inferior foes. But being better than Afghanistan and Iraq isn’t cause to claim to be the Greatest of All Time. At least under Bush/Cheney, the US concentrated on picking on weak nations. Then hubris led the change during the Obama/Hillary years to trying to pick a fight with Russia and China. Since the US has failed to ‘win’ in Afghanistan, and can’t seem to be able to completely subdue the Iraqi people even given 15 years of the application of ‘the finest force in history’, there really hasn’t been any real reason to think that the US could subdue Russia or China and especially not Russia And China.
Outside of Hollywood, the US military has never shown itself to be the ‘finest force of all time’. My recent readings of history have of late been focused on early WW2, and there was a stretch of time when the German army seemed invinceable and possibly able to lay claim to such a title. After the fall of France and early in the invasion of the Soviet Union, there had to be people wondering if those guys could ever be stopped. But the American military has never shown this in any war against any serious opponent.
In 1999 NATO attacked the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, the US military providing most of the backing. The Serbs shot down 137 NATO combat planes and 25 choppers. Among the losses was one F-117 stealth bomber (shown on TV) and one B-2 stealth bomber (not shown on TV). The name of the B-2 was “Spirit of Missouri. The US always claimed it crashed in the US due to “technical problems”. It did not. It was shot down by the Serbs, using a Russian missile.
As my mother said; “In WW1 in regard to artillery, when the English fired, the Germans ducked; when the Germans fired the English and the Americans ducked and when the American fired everybody ducked.
And then of course during WW2 there was the battle of Brisbane between the Americans and the Australians, though I doubt if many were aware of that little stoush. In the battle for Wau in New Guinea, the American soldiers went in first followed by the Australians, who my mother said had orders to shoot any American that ran.
And then in Vietnam, when the Australian soldiers came upon the enemy and were fired upon they took action to oppose the enemy. However the Americans simply retreated and called in the artillery. Again, for Vietnam, the Australian soldier was trained for 12 months, but from what I can gather the poor American infantry simply finished boot camp and was then sent out. This means that Kissinger’s comments about soldiers as pawns was correct.
But now, the Australians are totally under the disillusion of being Americanised. Our armed forces as trained as part of the US as well as our what we called constabulary. The warnings of the former LAPD policeman Jack McLamb have been ignored and our now ‘Law enforcement Agencies’ follow a ‘Federalised’ agenda.
GOD SAVE THE FEDERAL RESERVE!
All it takes to defeat the U.S. , and or Israel is insurgency.
It was proven over and over, from south-east Asia, to Afghanistan, to Iraq. In fact, U.S. forces in Syria and Iraq are only allowed to exist from total annihilation is by the good graces, patience and intelligence of Mr. Khamenei.
If he so wanted, U.S., British, French, Italian contingents, and their Kurdish lackeys , could most easily be outmaneuvered, over-run, destroyed, and very, very large portion of occupied Palestine liberated.
Air power will not change the outcome one bit. The Coalition can launch airstrikes, missile strikes, all they can, and there will not be a change in the unfortunate outcome for the U.S. coalition/ Israel. In 2006, Israel had 100% air superiority and they couldn’t change the outcome of that divine outcome for Hezbollah. Hezbollah used a military tactic called ‘ hugging your enemy’, in that you get as close to your enemy as to render air strikes ineffective. The Soviets used this at Stalingrad most effectively.
And todays array of forces from the ‘ axis of resistance’ are loose formations, not battalion, nor division style forces the U.S. doctrine has always been based on. It took up until recently , i.e. Afghanistan and the rout in Iraq, where 14 of the U.S. Army;s total 16 battalions were bogged down in the Middle Eastern sands chasing one shadow after another, from one corner of Iraq to the other. It finally took the much touted ‘ surge ‘ , that we all heard about that was going to turn the tide, in America’s favor. Well, that surge was in the form of billion and billions of dollars, freshly printed, flown in to pay off the insurgency, as to give the U.S. enough time to extract itself with its head still held high. That was the surge folks. Nothing more. IED’s and snipers decimated the mighty U.S. military in Iraq, and its going to happen region wide, as soon as the syndicate of international Jews and Israel get their way, and kick off a region-wide all out war.
Simply put, the regions people support the ‘axis of resistance’, from which are their very own brothers and sisters, their populations. The Coalition /Israel are effectively in hostile territory.
Iran will continue with sending volunteers, 14+ thousand from Afghanistan alone, Iraqi PMU militias, alongside the Syrian Arab Army , NDF and Hezbollah, who have grinded out, and have by now become distilled down to the best fighting forces in the world. Who’s going to stop them? The soy-boys of the queers IDF, or the threadbare in personnel, currently being re-tooled and re-staffed U.S. military, that told Obama in 2017that the U.S. cannot wage a medium, regional war until 2022, at the earliest.
The U.S. / Israeli hegemony is a paper tiger, based on bluffing, and buying for time.
Yet another example of the educational/research aspect of the Outlaw US Empire’s decline is noted in this article about the Chinese’s mastering Quantum Computing whereas having finally recognized its importance, “The US House Science Committee has introduced a bill creating a 10-year National Quantum Initiative aimed at developing quantum information science and technology.” https://sputniknews.com/asia/201807051066051574-china-physicists-quantum-dawn-supercomputer/
China has also developed a Star Wars-like laser rifle, https://sputniknews.com/asia/201807031065984499-china-develops-non-lethal-laser-rifle/
Add hypersonic technologies, miniature nuclear engines, portable nuclear power plants, and other sci-fi-like items becoming operational by Russia and China, and one can clearly see the great decline is “US Know-how”–but perhaps that was always a myth too.
To be blunt, the basic premise of military service is you pay us to break things and kill people, everything else is window dressing. When an army loses, or forgets, it’s basic mission, that is when trouble starts.
I saw the beginnings of trouble in the US Armed Forces back towards the end of President Reagan’s time, but this trouble was not in the regular armed forces, it began in the NG, National Guard, the supposed ready reserve. This trouble stayed roughly as background noise through the next administration, and then came the Clintons. The Obama regime was the absolute worst and it was in this time that the moral fabric of the US Armed Forces was actively attacked and to a great extent destroyed, and since the Obama regime was nothing but a puppet for the Clintons, one can understand who was behind this debacle. Under this regime, by the fourth year of the regime there was an active campaign to force out the ‘old guard’, those senior sergeants and company grade officers who were the backbone of the fighters, those whose task it was, and they had performed this task, to go in and dig the enemy out of his fighting hole at bayonet point and either kill him or take him prisoner, the preferred being the first option.
Many of my old acquaintances now understand that they were cashiered because the regime considered them dangerous with the added crime of not agreeing with the gender bending, everyone in uniform is equal, ‘a fifty kilo woman Marine can pull a 100 kilo wounded Marine out of harms way just as well as another 100 kilo Marine can’ bovine scatology. It don’t work that way, current equality of the sexes be damned, and the soldiers and Marines serving at the tip of the spear know this fact very well.
In the end, no matter what wunderwaffen you have, no matter what chemical, biological, nuclear, ‘mother of all bombs’, supper razzle dazzle automats, triple thermobaric anti tank weapons, unseen airframes, ‘stealth’ ships, night vision, heads up helmet displays, et al, you have, in the end the line soldiers have to go in and fight up close and personal with the enemy and either bayonet him, shoot him or force him to run or surrender.
That’s what you pay soldiers to do, and if you want soldiers to spend half their time and more attending ‘gender equality’ classes, gender bending classes, social volunteer classes, ‘drugs ain’t that bad’ classes, child welfare classes, family orientation classes, sexual harassment classes, then you get exactly what you forced them to do, a half effort because instead of teaching them their real vocation, killing people and breaking things, you waste half and more of their time with bovine scatology that don’t mean jack when the real shooting starts.
Therein is the problem in a nutshell, both in CehSha and Europe. In Europe, it’s if anything worse. For years, you in US, UK and La Belle France prayed for, and warred for, a peaceful, non ‘militaristic’ Germany. You got what you prayed for, in spades, and in the process you destroyed the very military you spent so much treasure to protect you from, the very military that could possibly have protected you from the much feared, ludicrously feared, Russian Scourge. Alte Deutschland is dead and gone, France died on the march back from Moskau in ’12, UK is but a ghostly vapor of what she once was, dead on Flanders Fields. What’s left?
Nothing. You are on your own, exactly what you prayed for.
In regard to ‘busting things’, I believe you are incorrect. It has been noted that the best trained soldiers move through an area without leaving any traces or information for their enemy. That means leaving things untouched. The badly trained troops when moving through an area will touch things, break things destroy things and thus leave the locals angry with them and give the opposition information regarding their ability.
When has the US army been that well trained that it could move through an area without leaving any evidence of its existence?
In regards to women on the battlefield the Israelis tried that in about 1948 and it was a total disaster. Whenever a female soldier got hit and started screaming the men would stop fighting and attend to the female. They stopped that practise very quickly, but it is good for us as it is an inferior force.
One of Australia’s biggest victories was the ‘Kokoda Track’ (The Americans called it the Kokoda trail) and in this desperate battle any Australians captured by the Japanese were tortured mostly at night so that the screams and cries of those tortured would supposedly put fear into the Australian soldiers.
Now consider this tactic if used against females in modern warfare. I believe that there have been cases where US military females have been deliberately targeted by the opposition in Iraq. I also heard stories of female soldiers being threatened with prosecution if they became pregnant as that was one method used by them to escape the warzone.
Thanks, Saker, for this book review. I know there are many people who will strongly disagree with me, and so be it: The worst mistake the US military ever made was allowing women into combat situations, and I am Not saying that because I believe women are somehow “inferior” to men, or that they are not intelligent enough, or strong enough to do demanding tasks, etc. Women serve our country in ten thousand indispensable ways. The whole war thing has always been awful enough with men doing the fighting, and now with women in combat situations war is twice as awful. The anti-family, anti-life “new” world order is constantly dreaming up more ways for more people to get killed. Maybe this is 3X as bad, because now more than ever our country needs more creators, makers, mentors, and teachers, & more dads and moms who are there for their kids, instead of getting blown to bits by an IED, or being sacrificed in yet another stupid war. The military cemeteries are full enough, for sure. When is enough, enough? Any man that would encourage his daughter to join the military is seriously insane.
Andrew, I think you misunderstood when I said ‘we are paid to break things and kill people’. Everyone I served with for over 30 years was trained not to harm civilians if at all possible and any wanton destruction of civilian property or lives was expressly forbidden under threat of extreme punishment, and I do mean ‘extreme’. ‘Break things’ means destroying the enemy’s equipment and physical means of resisting us.
Women in combat units is an entirely different subject. ‘Women’ and ‘combat’ don’t mix and never have. I know there’s a lot of propaganda out there in opposition to that statement but reality is reality, as your example of the Israelis shows, it’s genetically programmed in us to protect the women, and I’ll qualify that statement with ‘normal us’.
The pregnancy gig is a reality, whenever a unit in US and/or EU is told to saddle up, the first thing that happens is a major percentage of the women shoved in to these units as ‘diversity’ end up slightly with child, therefore they can’t go and the fire teams and units they trained with and were a part of will go in to combat with a newbie or two who does not know the always individualistic methods of operations of the small unit and does not know the individual slang terms unique to each unit. This little foible gets people quite dead quite quickly, all in the name of ‘diversity’ and ‘everyone is equal’. Sorry, everyone is not equal and never will be.
The Australians have always ‘celebrated’ the Battle of Long Tan in Vietnam.
This battle came about due to the US policy of removing civilians from their villages where they had lived for centuries and place them in newly developed ‘villages’ with safeguards against Nth Vietnamese infiltration.
The North Vietnamese army made the mistake of thinking the Australians were Americans and set a trap for them, but the Australians were trained differently and reacted in a manner not anticipated by the North Vietnamese regulars. Most of the Australian casualties occurred when reinforcements arrived and the Australians stopped fighting for a moment and stood up and cheered thus making themselves easy targets.
Australian Military Intelligence in Vietnam were aware of the US policy of taking POWs for a helicopter ride and then dumping a few overboard prior to interrogation. I would believe that method of interrogation continued at Mogadishu with Capt. James Yacone as that was the method used to silence the FBI agents Lorek and Shaw after the Boston Bombing.
Again, the lack of proper training for the US military (grunts) has always led to the shooting of civilians from Vietnam to Iraq, which is well recorded, but it also led to those same soldiers in Vietnam of developing a practise of rolling a hand grenade into their officer’s tent at night, if they believed the officer was hunting ‘glory’.
Again in Iraq several years ago it was announced that any female soldier who became ‘pregnant’ as a means to avoid duty would be court-marshalled. Apparently the practise had become endemic.
Andrew (or Auslander), do you happen to know anything about the incident reported on Australia’s ABC radio many decades back where a squad of Aussie (maybe NZ?) SAS massacred a group of American grunts they found pack raping some Vietnamese women? I remember hearing that program when I was a boy, in the 70’s. It’s stuck with me ever since, but I’ve never been able to find out anything about it.
I’m sorry, but I don’t know anything about that incident, but back then any SASR in Vietnam would have been hush hush, but also back then there was a very strong feeling of right and wrong, so it very well may have happened.
The main assumption of Martyanov does only work if US Military command would refrain from further escalation in case of heavy losses in a conventional “theatre”.
“Further escalation” means the use of weapons of mass destruction, which are not that “mass destructive” anymore as you can read it in the 2018 Nuclear Posture Review.
Now tell me, would the possible use of tactical nuclear weapons affect those assumptions of a weak US military?
I think your argument is: basically, considering nuclear escalation, the US is not weak.
If that is your argument, it assumes the US will nuke first and completely, empty it all, not tactical use.
The Russian doctrine is to use tactical weapons if homeland or troops are on the verge of being overwhelmed.
The US doctrine is to destroy totally any superpower that resists its attack. Domination implies strategic nuclear use against Russia or China.
So, is it strength to get your nation (the USA) totally wiped out by Satan IIs and most of your fleet sunk, and nearly every base on Earth destroyed, in order to show strength? Because the Russians have indicated and demonstrated that is what will happen to the US/Hegemon if he pokes the Bear sufficiently.
China is a pure second strike military and will inflict some damage with its 280 warheads. However, if China is attacked by the Hegemon, the world changes instantly, and Russia will be involved, because it has to and because any plan to attack China must account for (and attack Russia, also).
So, the facts are the US is weak, and acting strong does not end its weakness.
The reality is the Empire is in deep trouble. The society is frayed. The economy is toxic. The health and stability of Americans is in jeopardy. The Threat and Enemy is the US government, Deep State, Finance-Centric economy and rigged markets, corrupt Congress and incompetent MIC, sucking Trillions from taxpayers and delivering nothing but patriotic flyovers at football games and NASCAR races.
Liberalism is killing the society. Corruption is killing the economy and democratic controls of a Tyranny of government.
No facet of American life is what it was pre-Iraq War. Americans lost control in November 1963. They were traumatized by 9-11. They think they may have found a leader for MAGA. But their reality is clearly described by Martyanov, McCoy and others.
You can rationalize it, spin it, or ignore it.
If the US thought it could win a war, it has on its platter Taiwan, South China Sea, Syria, Ukraine and/or Crimea for starters. They certainly had one in North Korea, but blinked.
The places they would love to win, they face Russia or China or both. And they would take such casualties and loss of ships, planes and machines, that it would be catastrophic.
Mali, that’s the place they think they can win. In a decade or two.
No major nation there. Perfect.
Look at Libya. Analyze the US in post-Gaddafi Libya. Who thinks they can straighten out Libya?
General Hafter went to Moscow for help and guidance.
Egypt. Who wants US in Egypt? Sisi went to Moscow for alliance.
Facts speak loudly.
Auslander gave the inside SitRep above. Read it carefully.
@ both Auslander and Larchmonter
Can agree move with your comments. That describes the decline in the fighting forces of the US. But the decline in the population’s moral standards and living quality, will break the back of the hegemon even faster.
The US will no go down fighting , it will go down disrupted by internal strife, because of appalling conditions in education, health, employment, inequality, low wages, environmental damage, abysmal infrastructure, drug abuse, guns, and criminal behavior and a collapse of its currency. Those things added up spells Civil War, Rebellion, Insurgency.
And then US forces will be deployed against US citizens, on US soil, and then it is game over.
This will happen within 2 decades at most, maybe a decade, depens on how long the rest of the world are able (can afford) to keep the dollar afloat; but the rest of world is already now trimming sails, peeling hatches and slowly trying to limit the damage.
And it was all warned against by those who understand economics, but greed, pure naked greed won.
You will pay a price for that, we all will, but you will bear the brunt.
decades? the escalating internal strife suggests months, and possibly weeks to a very uncivil conflict.
I guess because it fire season, but my analogy is that there is a lot of dry timber and brush around as potential fuel. It only needs something to touch it off. Who knows when such an event might occur? It might be awhile, or there might be a cop drawing his weapon at this very moment to commit yet another murder of yet another unarmed person, while being recorded on video, and that’s the spark needed to light it all off.
Traditionally in America, such conflagurations do tend to start in the summertime.
The whole idea of NATO revolved around the US “nuclear umbrella.”
The US establishment decided early in the cold war that it was a lot cheaper to build nuclear weapons that it was to build a large and competent military force. The protection that the US gave to the NATO countries was the promise that if a war broke out in Europe, that the US would ‘defend’ them by using its nuclear weapons.
In other words, they knew their conventional forces were garbage and could not stop a Soviet Tank Army, but instead relied upon the threat of a nuclear holocaust to provide ‘defense’.
Well yes, since the horrible results of the use of them would not happen in the US. And the eurocrats apparently didn’t think about that. Plus it was more or less forced on them anyway.
as you can read, Putin said mini nuke or not – we respond with 500kT nukes.
Now tell me, do you believe Putin is bluffing?
Your reasoning’s circular–the US military’s weak so it must rely on tactical nukes–the development of tactical nukes is to plug holes in the combat ability of US military forces. Furthermore, US infantry is woefully poor and its armored, air and air-defense forces are now second rate–one cannot hold or gain territory with such forces. Take a long hard look at the Straights of Hormuz situation and describe how the US Navy’s capable of keeping the tankers from being sunk–Iran’s a totally different actor than the one of 30 years ago when it was forced to submit to the crime of having its airliner shot down.
Using nuclear weapons for the US will be tempting, and that is the danger. But “tempting” does not mean “effective” or “useful” because against adversaries such as Russia and China that would be suicidal and against adversaries such as Iran it would be both useless (Iran has no targets which, if hit, could change the outcome of a conflict) and still very dangerous (Iran has a huge choice of lucrative US targets to chose from in the region).
This is my Martyanov speaks of the danger of MIS-calculation: rationally, logically, using US tactical nukes as a substitute for a credible conventional force is not a viable option, but when conventional forces clearly fail, they can *appear* as a face saving (and power showing) option.
Again, the USA today is in the same situation as Russia in the 1990s: a hollow (of bloated) conventional military and, therefore, an over-reliance on nuclear weapons to deal with any and all possible conventional failures. This is very, very dangerous.
The US is the only country with a track record of using nuclear weapons. Plus, it used the nuclear weapons for political and not military reasons.
The willingness to use nuclear weapons is proven and so is the ability.
The temptation to use nuclear weapons on a massive scale will be high when it looks like all will be lost. “We lose 30 million for their 100 million” mentality cannot be discounted- Think of the movie Dr. Strangelove as a documentary.
Hopefully next week’s Trump-Putin meeting will show a way out.
Yes agree, especially when the US is considering China. After all China has 1.4 billion while the ZuS has only 350 milion. Thus such bean counting as “we kill 1.4 billion of yours while you can only kill 350 million of mine” will always give the delusion of victory!
And “face saving” is all they have left which is why I think you are right about the delusionists possibly thinking it would restore US power.
However given that nuclear weapons have been around for 70 years it’s hard not to imagine something better having been developed in the meantime to neutralise the threat.
The Russians have mentioned rather obliquely laser weapons and EW.
What can you do with Lasers exactly?
And they are sending stuff into space with the Chinese.
I do very often wonder could we be getting to a point where US nuclear weapons could be disabled on their launchers thus ending the nuclear annihilation threat once and for all.
Game well and truly over.
This is surely a desirable goal for Russia.
The enemy is at supra-national elite, sometimes residing in the US, that is actually creating a global equivalent of East India Company. Transfer of wealth and knowledge to East Asia or for that matter anywhere else, will not benefit the entire local population. I will merely try to create satrapies, run by local Uncle Toms, to the benefit of that supranational Chosen Few.
The East India Company model of global economic management is what is needed to be dismantled.
The Empire would be quite happy for thismodel to continue.
In fact, it is the Empire’s objective to continue with this model. The Empire will quite happily move to China and give up on the US if this model could be continued.
100 points to Amir and jiri for mentioning the East India Company.
Any aspiring authors out there who are convinced they can outshine Miles Mathis? Simple. Reexamine the mostly unknown and utterly shocking and devastating history of the East India Company and write an article, better, a 20 page essay, even better, a full book, and ultimately, a ten volume definite guide called ‘The East India Company – how the Jewish Mafia conquered the world by way of deception, piracy, legal trickery, occult mumbo jumbo, and fraudulent banking – all in Service of the (crypto-Jewish) Queen’.
Left wondering what the heck “Crypto-Jewish” is supposed to mean?
The math geek in me associates ‘crypto’ with codes and code breaking. But in some minds, it appears to be a phrase which is just appended in front of another term, with no apparent meaning other than its supposed to make the new term look ‘modern’ and ‘cool’.
Since the East India Company was a royal endeavor designed to make the English elites rich, I’d be very surprised if there were many ‘jews’ involved. Lots of Lords from Somewhere who were related to the Engligh royalty by some means or another yes. But I’d suspect very few Jews since birth rights into aristocracy and families and tracing one’s heritage were the main criteria for getting in on that deal.
which is the matrilineal system of inherited religion works to advantage the tribe. It lets them sneak their influence into places it should not be. Malcolm Turnbull, Australia’s Prime Minister is a classic example
No, no, no no! Please understand the British aristocracy. Oliver Cromwell fought royalty as represented by Charles 1st. Cromwell then plotted and schemed to have Charles ‘escape’ so that he could be ‘tried and executed’ as per the Jewish plan. I believe most people are aware of that.
So once the king is executed, the Parliament becomes the supreme ruler.
And now the Jews move in. The Jews came from Amsterdam along with the money lender, the Duke of Orange, who the English Parliament betrothed James 2nd’s daughter Mary. This would ensure that the Jews had their king on the throne of England. However James 2nd revolted recognising that the Presbyterian religion and it’s view on usury was totally against the Christian norm, and for that, James had to go.
Rightio, the British aristocracy had the land and the titles, the Jews had the money, so what happened? Well the European aristocracy recognised a complete change in the British aristocracy, which was brought about by the Jews marrying off their daughters to the gentry. Of course ‘Dutchmen’ like Lord Montague who was one of the ‘owners’ of the Bank of England established in 1694, was by that stage considered ‘English’ by his peers, and the Dutch East India Company overnight became the British East India Company, and the Dutch could munch tulips.
And if you do not comprehend that little matter then consider the case of the Scottish pirate, William Paterson who was made the first head of the Bank of England and then replaced by Isaac Newton, Old Willie moved back north and started a Scottish scheme called Daria to establish a Scottish colony in South America. It of course went bust, but the Scottish ‘elite’ who had invested in the scheme were offered compensation if they joined their ‘English’ elite.
Very similar to Rothschild scheme after the battle of Waterloo.
“There is a huge discrepancy between the perceived and the actual capabilities of the US military and the only way to bridge this gap are, of course, nuclear weapons.”
And the only way for the US to maintain its supremacy isby the use of nuclear weapons.
It has done this once before and there is no reason to believe that it will not do so again.
Therein lies the danger and challenge.
There is a good book dealing with the hardware side failure done by frustrated US Defense professionals, America’s Defense Meltdown ed. by Winslow T. Wheeler. Book came out in 2009, everything they said then is worse now, Auslander is right about the effect of PC and LGBT on the military. Another effect of PC is that the honorable and ethical Officers and NCOs have been forced out while the Ass Kissing bureaucrats remain. Trump twittered that Transgenders should be booted out, but Mattis preferred to be popular with the MSM and the Democrats.
I don’t know how could be on the (very) long period but I don’t agree with these very optimistic consideration.
Russia is not USSR and has not the huge, advanced, powerful scientific/industrial/military/training/academic/experience background of USSR. That industrial-military system was almost completely destroyed or gave away to the West with the defeat of USSR. Moreover the soviet industrial complex was split between the Soviet Federative Republics so what was outside Russia is lost and Russia is not completely autonomous, like USSR, in weapons production and experience. Not forgetting that a lot of very trained person ran to the West and that the nowadays semi-private armament firms of liberal Russia firms have commercial goals not strategic national security one. Eventually Russia has not the diplomatic/alliance net that USSR had worldwide and the demography is completely different: USSR almost 300 mil, Russia 144 mil. – USSR GDP 2nd, Russia GDP 12th. The only point that equalizes the matter is the N component of the RF Armed Forces … and that they can yet rely on the old soviet stuff…
Some might consider that pushing off on Ukraine the old, inefficient weapons industries of the Soviet Union is a good thing. Let Ukraine deal with the costs of that increasingly useless industrial base, while Russia builds new and modern facilities over the last decade.
The old industries are old because without research & development, manintenance and upgrading for almost thirty years and because the soviet industrial-military system was disintegrated. That complex was planned for functioning like one thing and not separated. Probably the new liberist Russia has recovered part of that industries and capabilities but certainly it is very far from the soviet complex of the ’80 and can’t produce a lot of the weapons systems or civil systems that USSR once had.
as I said: the day of reckoning in is here it is time for the progressive movements to go all the way, straight to socialism in all completeness. and if that flushes out capitalism so be it. it is time to take the chance..to take the chances of existence for the survival of humanity.
all the marbles are on the table now!
for one….the only development that can stop the american neocons is the rise of the american ordinary people, spontaneously, of mostly one mind and that is to take charge of the american reality..the overthrow of AIPAC..and as some now insist, MIC in tandem. nothing else will do
Thus the huge effort to keep the various movements of opposition in the American people seperate and at each other’s throats.
This is why what used to be the leftist anti-war movements have been steered into hating Trump and believing the American two-party lie that the other party is responsible for all evil and that what’s needed is to push the other party out of power.
This is why the rightist anti-war movements go on and on and on and on about ‘socialists’ and how awful and horrible anyone left of Attila the Hun really is and how they all want to destroy all of mankind.
This is all done because the true nightmare of the elites is that the left and the right might realize they have a common enemy and multiple common issues on which they agree. And if that happened, it would be what was needed to overturn the minority rule that insist on empire, empire and more empire for the benefit of the 1%. This is why the number one imperative is to make sure the right hates the left and vice-versa.
This review sold me on getting a copy of Martyanov’s book. Generally find that writer’s work to be interesting and mind opening.
Actually, it’s very simple. If the US and it’s stooge regimes decide to attack Russia, Russia will not counterattack the NATO troops; it will launch on Washington D.C. , New York and Chicago and there is nothing that t he US can do to prevent it.
I recently saw somewhere, perhaps here on this site, that the Pentagon Generals had told President Obama that the US would be unable to fight any sort of regional war until 2022. I assume that means no repeats of the invasion of Iraq, but of course one would need to see and hear the fine print of the Pentagon as they informed the President of what he could or could not do.
I assume they told Trump the same thing, and presumably that was important enough to be at least a bullet point on an early meeting between the generals and their new figurehead President. I am assuming that the message that the new figurehead could not declare any new wars in his first term and not until halfway through a mythical second term was important enough to pass along.
Publicly, Trump was threatening not one, not two, but at least three such regional wars. Each in a completely different part of the world so the efforts would largely be seperate from each other. These were Iran, North Korea and Venezuela. We’ve recently heard stories that Trump was asking the generals for an invasion of Venezuela last year. If the generals were saying no regional wars until 2022, this request from the President was presumably met with laughter.
Trump has backpedaled on North Korea, and suddenly decided he preferred talks. I was going to say preferred ‘peace’, but the US does not prefer peace anywhere under any circumstances. But at least Trump appears to have been told by his generals that war was not an option in North Korea, so Trump is trying to find some way to save face after his early belligerent threads that now appear to be only hot air bluster.
With Iran, Trump also seems not to be following through on his pre-election collusion deals with the Sauds and the Israeli Yahoo that promises an early conflict with Iran. Trump appears to be trying through bluster, belligerence and showmanship to hide the fact that the US would be sure to lose a war with Iran.
The US continues to be belligerent in their invasion of Syria, but much of that effort is out-sourced and the actual US military committments remain small.
Meanwhile, the Democrats are trying to seize more power from Trump in the fall elections. They still maintain their platform of “We want nuclear war and we want it now”, and are running a slate of ex-CIA and military officers in their campaign to achieve “All Power to the Deep State” with a Democrat figurehead.
That appears to describe the current state of ‘the finest fighting force in history’.
After reading this review, I hope the mirror narcissism doesn’t take hold – namely that the US is inarguably a military paper tiger. It’s not being defensive to say that it’s not imho.
I hope that part, a substantial part, of the planning of potential military adversaries of the US empire is structural/programmatic introspection. Only that process can avoid the hubristic black hole that US planners have passed into. The object being, imho again, a militarily balanced and therefore more stable an de-escalating world. A world where “live and let live” becomes [more or less] accepted practice.
Sounds like a good book. My last military read was “Waging Modern War,” by Wesley Clark. It’ll be interesting to contrast the two books.
As Nth State or psudostate resolves to rely on Force there are other means of persuasion used also…
“…the war was to be fought not only with military means, but also with propaganda. Nazi war propaganda had three goals: to make sure people in Germany supported the war, to sedate the population of the occupied areas and to persuade neutral states to take Germany’s line…”
As we see today in the 4th Reich (a product of MI6 and their zionist agents).
As direct violence is functional only against inferior opponents, and as an adjunct mythos is an amplifier of force, Propaganda is a natural complimentary instrument.
It is therefore to be expected that Propaganda will assume a dominant role when direct violence is opposed by cathodic violence, and becomes ineffective. Zuswang condition in kinetic reality creates ground for Propaganda.
The site https://www.auswaertiges-amt.de/en/aamt/politiscal-archive is an interesting venue for examination the revisionist and self-serving position of Propaganda in Germany today, by the way… In fact German means is nearly 100% Propagandist, or more precisely, Rhetorical and Mythical.
If Imperial Army is seen as defeated, then Propaganda assumes essential function…
Some will see defeat first, others later. Vietnam defeat resulted in the totally B/S “all volunteer farce”…
Of course that too is now seen as defeated, at least by the more perceptive experts, so a Great Effort to create a superpropaganda system…internet control…makes sense…hence “fakenwz” and fake attacks, kidnapped “victims” and fake crimes….rule by fear…the entire farce…and “cops” that in reality are an occupying army…
In a way one of the most profound observations of this short article is that uncontrolled and unchallenged capitalism (lack of proper competition, regulation and norms) is self destructive as it primarily pursues profit generation, and the product/service only comes second.
In general, it can be noted that the cheap money (negative interest rates by the FED) have significantly sped up company mergers, creating a multitude of monopolies that will result in bad service/product and high rates for the people as well. This can be observed (if you live in the USA) through internet providers, their cost, and the respective speed and the service they provide. Also the pharma industry is heading down this path lately.
My point is, the observed is not an exception but a rule.
From over on Zero Hedge, this comment is a summation of another important facet of the USA’s vulnerability.
“From a purely military and strategic point of view, the USA is extremely vulnerable. It doesn’t matter how much money Trump flushes down the toilet to the mega corp war machine, what is missing is a unified nation, under God (let’s call it the Highest Good that each person seeks in all good faith on a daily basis). This nation is badly divided, and considerably weakened by the third world invasion. The niggas, la raza, antifa, the luciferians, the asians, they won’t show up to fight, nor will the fairies and all their homosexual behaviorist sympathizers. And neither will the feminists and social justice warriors, and nor will the rank and file of the demonrat party. And neither will the hollyscum freaks, and all their sycophantic off shoots.
Did I miss anybody?
This nation has no soul. It is a place inhabited by narcissists, nihilists, the decadent and self indulgent, the immoral, and blasphemous, lovers of self and disloyal to everything and everyone except their carnal appetite.
The nation is overrun by the psychologically insane (definitely from a foreign power’s point of view, whose mouths are drooling at the prospect of taking the nation for their own), and a government that promotes the insanity.
The only ppl left that might fight will be the handful of hired mercenaries already on the payroll, but they are only a few in number compared to the 2 billion Chinese. What’s left of who else might fight are ppl who hate the government because it is a satanic institution riddled with jews who control it and wish for its total annihilation.
You can’t save a country like this from an external attack.
And the US has no allies. Push come to shove, all those ‘allies’ will just step away and watch the destruction of the USA from afar. The jew can find another ‘New York’ to infest, or, like they did in Poland, made nice with Hitler once they saw Hitler was the man of the hour – the jew will do the same with the Chinese.
In a country where its own declaration of independence is determined to be ‘hate speech’ by an American corporation, where the nation is so weak as to not obliterate this corporation (fakebook), you tell me, exactly where is the core strength of the nation to defend itself?
I don’t see it.
Don’t be surprised to wake up one day to nukes and other sorts of bombs and missiles. Hated by all, totally divided within, controlled by lucifer, the USA is ripe for the picking – low lying fruit. “
Since the book is a “must read” for most people there is every reason for the review to be inviting, reader-friendly. To an uninitiated reader, however, a sentence like “Modern adversaries have command, control, … and reconnaissance capabilities equal to or better than the US ones” sounds so implausible that it will probably turn them off immediately. So IMHO it is unfortunate that the Saker didn’t include any of the examples in Mr. Martyanov’s book. A couple of them would have make the review more convincing, and they wouldn’t make it unbearably long.
Thanks Saker. I bought the book.
In a conflict between Russia and America where the US conventional force is wiped out, America will go nuclear.
Then we will see if the Russians back down in order to please their beloved partners, whom they are always begging for acceptance from, as Paul Craig Roberts has shown many times.
It amazes me how everyone seems to miss the sarcasm when Putin and Lavrov say the word “partners”.
Just today, in an article on southfront, reporting on FM Lavrov’s press conference after the JCPOA meeting.
“Question: Why hasn’t British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson come to the meeting?
Sergey Lavrov: I stopped following steps of our partners from the Foggy Albion. I am not interested in this at all.”
Is it possible to read that and not be able to tell that the word ‘partners’ is dripping with derision? It appears Mr. Lavrov has moved from sarcasm to outright scorn. And yet the silly Americans think that its the word of a subservient slave speaking to his master because the Americans only hear in the word ‘partners’ the word ‘slave’ as that’s how the Americans view all their ‘partners’.
Lavrov conceals his emotions fairly well, but he’s obviously disgusted. So are we all, I think.
When a fella meets another at the OK Corral fer a ghunfight, the other fella is surely a partner. They are locked together in a “dance”… There is always some degree of antipathy, and usually also some love, between partners… Is a trick word – ambiguous. Semantic value, as used by Ivan, seems to me to be equivalent to “associate”. Cops n robbers are “associates”, no? As are hangman and the about to depart…
Obviously a) I am no expert, and b) there’s overlap in meaning, but the word choice is significant…
Now, if Comrade L were to say ” tovarishch”, just now that would be very sarcastic indeed!
However, in the fullness of Time, tovarishch may be an accurate word to describe Russian/American relations…at least this seems to be a fundamental goal in long range plans for Ivan, and it makes sense if you look at a map. Lotta Chinese, few Russians…and Russian US relations go way back…Czar stopping Europeans from entering US Civil War…(until “MI6” did the deed on Abe). English attempts at controlling US went underground after 1812…and got real traction when Stephenson set up OSS with Donovan, and did the job on FDR… The zionish operations of today stem from MI6 projects… They are doing their almighty best to prevent the loss of control and re-establishment of sovereign Merka…and there’s a giant 5th column in Murka…
Yes, I know “MI6” was not around in 1812 et sec, but Brit Intel was… Things get re-named…

Almost no American knows that a Russian fleet was the only protection the USA had on its Western Coast from British offense.
“Let America Be America Again”, by Langston Hughes, published in 1938
Let America be America again.
Let it be the dream it used to be.
Let it be the pioneer on the plain
Seeking a home where he himself is free.
(America never was America to me.)
Let America be the dream the dreamers dreamed—
Let it be that great strong land of love
Where never kings connive nor tyrants scheme
That any man be crushed by one above.
(It never was America to me.)
O, let my land be a land where Liberty
Is crowned with no false patriotic wreath,
But opportunity is real, and life is free,
Equality is in the air we breathe.
(There’s never been equality for me,
Nor freedom in this “homeland of the free.”)
Say, who are you that mumbles in the dark?
And who are you that draws your veil across the stars?
I am the poor white, fooled and pushed apart,
I am the Negro bearing slavery’s scars.
I am the red man driven from the land,
I am the immigrant clutching the hope I seek—
And finding only the same old stupid plan
Of dog eat dog, of mighty crush the weak.
I am the young man, full of strength and hope,
Tangled in that ancient endless chain
Of profit, power, gain, of grab the land!
Of grab the gold! Of grab the ways of satisfying need!
Of work the men! Of take the pay!
Of owning everything for one’s own greed!
I am the farmer, bondsman to the soil.
I am the worker sold to the machine.
I am the Negro, servant to you all.
I am the people, humble, hungry, mean—
Hungry yet today despite the dream.
Beaten yet today—O, Pioneers!
I am the man who never got ahead,
The poorest worker bartered through the years.
Yet I’m the one who dreamt our basic dream
In the Old World while still a serf of kings,
Who dreamt a dream so strong, so brave, so true,
That even yet its mighty daring sings
In every brick and stone, in every furrow turned
That’s made America the land it has become.
O, I’m the man who sailed those early seas
In search of what I meant to be my home—
For I’m the one who left dark Ireland’s shore,
And Poland’s plain, and England’s grassy lea,
And torn from Black Africa’s strand I came
To build a “homeland of the free.”
Who said the free? Not me?
Surely not me? The millions on relief today?
The millions shot down when we strike?
The millions who have nothing for our pay?
For all the dreams we’ve dreamed
And all the songs we’ve sung
And all the hopes we’ve held
And all the flags we’ve hung,
The millions who have nothing for our pay—
Except the dream that’s almost dead today.
O, let America be America again—
The land that never has been yet—
And yet must be—the land where every man is free.
The land that’s mine—the poor man’s, Indian’s, Negro’s, ME—
Who made America,
Whose sweat and blood, whose faith and pain,
Whose hand at the foundry, whose plow in the rain,
Must bring back our mighty dream again.
Sure, call me any ugly name you choose—
The steel of freedom does not stain.
From those who live like leeches on the people’s lives,
We must take back our land again,
I say it plain,
America never was America to me,
And yet I swear this oath—
America will be!
Out of the rack and ruin of our gangster death,
The rape and rot of graft, and stealth, and lies,
We, the people, must redeem
The land, the mines, the plants, the rivers.
The mountains and the endless plain—
All, all the stretch of these great green states—
And make America again!
Hughes was kept from me when I was a kid, they tried to protect me from the political police by keeping secret any odium of communist influence. I did not work…
I’ll print the poem, and probably frame it by the door.
Like L H., Burroughs said it too…
And, astonishingly, so did PCR, sorta, especially near the end…
And so did ol’ Woody G. In the quasisocialist times of the 1950’s we sang his and other songs at public school, songs today considered subversive, and generally verbotten.
Other prospective titles for Hughes’ poem:
Let the Easter Bunny be the Easter Bunny again!
Let the Tooth Fairy be the Tooth Fairy again!
Yes, go tell the Japanese if they thought the US Maines were wimps!!! Also, please note the military production of the US in WW2 and how much of that were GIVEN to the Russians, of which they would have been defeated by Germany had not the US given them the arms to do it. Seems this person needs to do more research before peddling someone else’s revised history. Here is just a smattering of info you can find that the Russians won the war only because of US war material given them.
https://ww2-weapons.com/lend-lease-tanks-and-aircrafts/ This is one “review” that stinks, and I don’t have a problem if it were true but this review is based on fallacies!!!
Deeply regret to inform you that the US majority population is indeed morally bankrupt wimps who think that their arrogant bluster and self-worship impress peoples (mind the plural tense, ’peoples’, it’s absolutely deliberate) with less comprimised mental faculties. And the US military is the most cowardly institution in this totally rotten society.
Q: Do you really believe the assertion that 911 wasn’t accompanied by spectacular joy and Schadenfreude all over the planet? To me, it stands out as the only thing the Bush administration did exactly right, targeting the WTO, the Pentagon, and the White House.
If you knew more about 911 you would see it in a different way…
Millions of people have been misled regarding the causes and consequences of 9/11.
Yes, many may have cheered, but many saw the more terrible truth, and cried at the implications, which have taken place and are ongoing.
“Inside job” does not do justice…beggars the term.
Actually I have known several marines who were in the meat-grinder of the Pacific… They told me that they knew that the islands and all the killing had zero strategic value. And they said that their “heroic deeds” were simply what they had to do at the moment. Stuff like salvaging the gunsight from a self-propelled gun that had been hit, to repair another self-propelled gun – all under direct fire. (Well, if you don’t try, they’ll kill you anyway – that sort of thing. If you are lucky and live, then you’re a “hero”….)
The Japanese garrisons were starving because of the US submarine war, which was arguably criminal in nature. The Japanese subs followed the laws, the US subs did not, speaking generally. The islands could not be resupplied properly, and had become a liability to Japan.
There are US submariners who have said as much, too.
I have not read the book, but will buy it. However, I think the book is not about battles over 70 years but the current modern situation as it now stands.
Was addressing Gospodin Anderson’s remarks about the marines. The Japanese were not wimps, and neither were the marines…they were simply being used as fodder units, and many among the marines knew this.
Author case for U.S. losing supremacy is reasonably correct. BUT my view is the U.S., after loss in Vietnam and further de facto loss in Iraq, have given up for military supremacy in the sense of winning wars. Not with small powers, certainly not with major powers. The U.S. military was never used for self-defense. It’s main uses are ideological & economic warfare of aggression. Protect profits of its big business. It is enforcement of state-run protection racket.
The missions of the Pentagon are:
1. Create chaos, de-stabilize to gain some advantage, chief among these are to sustain its currency dominance, banking control, corporate business globally,
2. Conduct terror operations, such as firing cruise missiles into Syria,
3. Sail its ships around the world to show it has the appearance of power. Carry out continuous military drills with allies to keep them in check, hit them if they get out of line.
4. Condition, brainwash Americans the country has military supremacy and must continue to pay whatever price for it.
As such the U.S. military empire will crumble the moment Americans stop believing it’s for their benefit, stop paying for it. Actually most American already know the first part. But they have no choice on the second part because the country is run by the racketeers. Today the racketeers have to resort to buying up all the politicians. It is today’s version of the French aristocracy of 1800. Soon the people will have enough and guillotine the aristocracy in order to save themselves.
The Author forgets to mention one crucial fact
The apparatus behind the US Militarý Machine
the Politics behind it and its Megalomaniac World View
is Jewish which has caused inumerable suffering of Mankind
for at least the last 200 Years

Wow! Just finished reading it! Got the ebook from Kobo. $15.99. A very liberating read. Clears up a lot. Thanks Saker for bringing it to our attention!
The point about Russia understanding war is critical. And this understanding is both material and pyschological. A minor but telling example. I saw RT videos showing Russian jets landing and taking off from their airbases in Syria. All around unkept and overgrown grass. From what I understand Russian fighters and bombers have closed vents during take off to prevent debris from getting into the engines. During war, the condition of runways will be less than ideal. But American fighters have open vents which means the runway must be pretty clean of debris. In a sense, the Russian jets were designed with the experience of a war–you don’t get perfect run ways.
I understand that Americans have little to no experience of a war but what I don’t understand is why the NATO countries seemed to have forgotten what war means as they bring up their coalition to the Russiann border in ways that minic the German Nazis and their allies . I sometimes wonder that what we are seeing is a third phase of World War II. The first phase being the hot war, then the Cold War, and now a final phase where the Western powers are willing to go back to a hot war to finish off the job started by the German Nazis.
Amerika has become a banana republic,of a special kind called a MAGAnana republic ,which is a bankrupt crumbling, third world oligarchy which also has nuclear weapons & the continuing psychotic delusion that it is the “indispensable nation” when in fact as far as the rest of the world is concerned it is very dispensible & 30yrs hence will probably no longer be a unified nation.
What about lasers? If what I am learning about lasers obsolescence of the worlds entire military will be a painful lesson about America’s might in high tech.
Also get this America is terribly interested in weather warfare and according to some scientists lasers are the choice of weapon?
Is this true?
California inferno has signs of direct energy weapon
