It also makes no specific mention of all the bishops joining him in it. Are all the bishops going to join him or not? (He can order them to join him.) To satisfy the mandates of Fatima, the bishops have to join him. It is only five days away and I see nothing at various websites of the local church here about any priest or bishop joining him locally.
Any number of Catholic churches in the United States (and no doubt worldwide) have made pro-Ukrainian statements recently, in response to all the propaganda by the government. The minutiae discussed here regarding the act of consecration may sound like so much triviality, but to perform a consecration in accordance with the mandates of Fatima is fundamentally a call for unity with the Russian Orthodox Church, so it fundamentally is a pro-Russian statement. A call for peace with all sorts of sympathy for the Ukraine is a pro-Ukrainian statement. These are not the same thing as each other. I honestly think that from purely political point of view, it’s either:
a) the Pope’s hand is forced (as he can’t be seen expressly denying a formal request (publicized, of course) by the council of Latin rite Bishops of Ukraine; as this would be taken by the west as a firm political stance, one that is often avoided by Vatican in favor of other more pressing moral issues like family); or
b) the Pope is deliberately making this move (and asked the cooperation of willing Latin rite Bishops of Ukraine) to reinforce or convey his political stance for peace; as consecration of Russia in its original form is a call for world peace
Either way, it would be difficult to call the Pope out on his decision; since this decision is purely within his religious authority within the Roman Catholic faith.
BUT, one can’t help but question the timing and context of such decision, as the call for consecration of Russia had originally come at a time when there was once a great turmoil in the world; and numerous times since, many Popes had done the consecration, and Sister Lucia herself (the original witness to the apparition of Mary in Fatima) had stated, by letter, that the consecration that Pope John Paul II had done was already “accepted in Heaven”; thus rendering what Pope Francis did insubstantial and seen as a purely compassionate (and politically motivated) gesture.
One can also say that this move is deeply divisive in the heart of Christianity still bleeding from the original schism; as this move does not take into account the feeling of Russian Orthodox; the very people Pope Francis should have loved and nurtured in order to bring the divided people of the same faith closer into union again.
But ultimately this would not change anything. It wouldn’t make common Catholics who had originally supported Russia’s decision suddenly change face and condemn anything.

The signatories recall that “various characteristics of these ceremonies have been condemned as idolatrous or sacrilegious by Cardinal Walter Brandmueller, Cardinal Gerhard Mueller, Cardinal Jorge Urosa Savino, Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò, Bishop Athanasius Schneider, Bishop José Luis Azcona Hermoso, by Bishop Rudolf Voderholzer and by Bishop Marian Eleganti. I know the events, including the unseen side of the matter.
1. What happened then, addressed the Roman Catholic Church, PRIOR to Vatican II.
2. It was disobeyed. In fact, Vatican II was the tombstone of this, and other matters. The end.
3. Admission to homosexual “priests” – really? This was also part of the tombstone.
4. As if all these evils weren’t enough, Bergoglio is not even the Pope. Besides, he’s spiritually invalid in the first place. Of course Pope Benedict XVI has no part in such incredibly foolish act.
5. This matter was finished long ago, and now it is meaningless to even mention it. Over and out.
Jorge, from the Orthodox perspective, visions of Mary, Jesus and other saints aren’t actually important things that can or should influence the Church. Most of the time we look on such things with intense suspicion, since they could have been inspired by something demonic. Our focus is holding firmly to the Christian Faith of the Apostles and Church Fathers, and trying to repent of our sins.

La Chiesa ortodossa, che ha mantenuto inalterato il messaggio di Gesù, dovrà riportare l’intero Popolo cristiano cattolico alla fede.
Tra coloro che si dichiarano cattolici in questo tempo è rimasto ormai solo un “piccolo resto” fedele alla tradizione che ci è stata tramandata dagli apostoli… La maggior parte di coloro che si dichiarano cattolici sono invece, ormai, seguaci di una nuova diversa (nel senso di non più cristiana) religione, così come i farisei al tempo di Gesù non seguivano ormai più la religione di Abramo e di Mosè (ricordo che Gesù chiama i farisei “figli di Satana”).
Prima di terminare questa breve post vorrei ricordare una domanda che fece Gesù agli apostoli: al mio ritorno ci sarà ancora la fede sulla terra?
Che Dio Padre, Dio Figlio, Dio Spirito Santo, Trinità Unico Dio, ci benedica e mandi i suo Santi Angeli affinché ricaccino i Demoni e gli uomini malvagi negli abissi degli inferi… perché la battaglia non è tra sangue e carne, ma tra principati e potestà, tra Angeli e demoni.

Don’t have much theological understanding in this matter. But, if the entire world has already been consecrated unto Mary’s Immaculate Heart, what purpose would be served by Pope Francis in again consecrating Russia to Mary’s Immaculate Heart?
How does this lead to a war between the the Catholic and Orthodox denominations? As far as I could understand, it seems to be about bringing a forced union between the Catholics and Orthodox Churches. If so, then why aren’t other Christian denominations like Protestants, Baptists etc. also being brought under the same Church. Needless to say, the timing of this announcement is unfortunate and suspect, and will only go further to inflame emotions and passions.

Our Lady ,in 1917 had announced the end of the first world war and had predicted it would soon after be followed by a second war ,worst than the first if men did not pray and do penance . This all happened. She said that the devil would inspire scientists to build new weapons that could depopulate the world in a matter of hours , and that those weapons would be mass produced ! Raphael, it’s all strange. The greatest miracles in Christianity are Christ’s death and subsequent resurrection and ascension into heaven… and the Eucharist which unites us to Him. Eyes are easy to fool, and it’s barely a miracle if the sun begins to “dance”. Many people regularly see the same thing at Pascha! It’s nice, but not something to stake your faith on. On the topic of miracles, I read about one Russian priest who was beheaded by the Bolsheviks, and then walked back to his village a few hours later with his head attached and a scar around his neck. He served for a number of more years, before being martyred a second time by the Bolsheviks. That’s what I’d call a miracle!

The Church must pay attention when God sends her a messenger ; it must investigate ,and either conclude it is not from God ,or accept it as from God. It can not simply ignore. God has His say ; it is His Church. I find it unfortunate that Orthodox so easily brush off apparitions of Our Lady , without seriously looking into it ,as if The Mother of God had no right to talk to Her children… Have you ever searched the apparition of Our Lady of Good Success (Equador),read Her messages ? Have you investigated Her apparition in LaSalette (France) ? Have you read about the Apparition in Pontmain (France) 1970 ? Have you read the whole story of Our Lady of Lourdes (France) 1858 ? The whole story of Fatima (Portugal) 1917 ? The Apparition of Our Lady of Zaitoun (Cairo Egypt) 1973, above a Coptic church ? You should ,just for honesty’s sake , maybe you will give it a second thought ?

Raphael, respectfully, no we’re just not interested and we’ve never worked that way. Orthodox don’t need periodic “updates” from God, the Theotokos or any “prophets”, especially through those who are outside the Church. We already have the Faith in all its fullness.

All I want to know is if there will be an open bar at the reception afterwards?
I honestly think that from purely political point of view, it’s either:
a) the Pope’s hand is forced (as he can’t be seen expressly denying a formal request (publicized, of course) by the council of Latin rite Bishops of Ukraine; as this would be taken by the west as a firm political stance, one that is often avoided by Vatican in favor of other more pressing moral issues like family); or
b) the Pope is deliberately making this move (and asked the cooperation of willing Latin rite Bishops of Ukraine) to reinforce or convey his political stance for peace; as consecration of Russia in its original form is a call for world peace
Either way, it would be difficult to call the Pope out on his decision; since this decision is purely within his religious authority within the Roman Catholic faith.
BUT, one can’t help but question the timing and context of such decision, as the call for consecration of Russia had originally come at a time when there was once a great turmoil in the world; and numerous times since, many Popes had done the consecration, and Sister Lucia herself (the original witness to the apparition of Mary in Fatima) had stated, by letter, that the consecration that Pope John Paul II had done was already “accepted in Heaven”; thus rendering what Pope Francis did insubstantial and seen as a purely compassionate (and politically motivated) gesture.
One can also say that this move is deeply divisive in the heart of Christianity still bleeding from the original schism; as this move does not take into account the feeling of Russian Orthodox; the very people Pope Francis should have loved and nurtured in order to bring the divided people of the same faith closer into union again.
But ultimately this would not change anything. It wouldn’t make common Catholics who had originally supported Russia’s decision suddenly change face and condemn anything.
I am a Roman Catholic and I do believe that war is necessary when it comes to saving human lives treaded under jackboots of Ukronazi. May God in heaven and His beloved Mother Mary the Queen of Universe save our souls.

It is an excellent corrective as to that status of the war. But the reason I post it on this thread is that near the end of the MacGregor segment (which is about one hour), MacGregor discusses specifically the animus in the State Department (Blinken, Nuland et al.) against the openly declared conservative traditional values of Russia, and the declaration that Russia is a Christian Orthodox country. So he implies, or perhaps states openly that for these people it is a cultural war and they are true believers in the “globohomo” view of society.
Whether they are actually sincere or are using this as pretext to balkanize Russia and grab its resources is of course an open question. Humans are good at tailoring their beliefs to their more rapacious agendas.
MacGregor implies that they are sincere and are fanatics about the “save Russia” part of the agenda.

I am a Catholic. Pius XII, who was certainly a real Pope, consecrated the “Russian peoples” to the Immaculate Heart of Mary in July 1952. (In another letter he had praised the Marian piety of the Russian people, mentioning the icons kept in their houses–usually in secret.)
After the consecration the Korean armistice occurred, then the death of Stalin in 1953, and then the Kruschev thaw, etc. I believe this contributed to the end of Communism in Russia.
To consecrate means to set aside for a holy/sacred purpose. It is not an act of rebuke. it means that the Russian “peoples” (which could include Ukrainians) have a noble and holy vocation. Perhaps they will rid the world of the NWO, secular-humanist, lgbtq, financial/cultural tyranny that we see exemplified in Zelensky, the US elite, etc.

The Pope is the representative of Christ on Earth. One of Christ’s titles is “Father of the World to Come”– since he is the author/father of the salvation which is completed in Eternity. The Pope as Christ’s representative is also, in a way, “father of the World to come.” Now the whole of the human race has been summoned to/ordered to Eternal Life with God. (Whether each man attains that end is another question.) *Thus the whole human race has been entrusted to Christ as author of their salvation and, therefore, to the Holy Father (“Pope” means “Father” of course) as Christ’s representative.* Thus the whole human race “belongs”, in a way, to the Pope, as the *spiritual father of mankind.* He is responsible for promoting the salvation of all, just as a good father seeks the happiness of all of his children.
Pius XII even (supposedly) spoke of the very non-Catholic Stalin as “our son”, when he heard of Stalin’s famous “How many divisions has the Pope?” : “When you see Our son Joseph again tell him that he will meet our divisions in heaven.” Rather optimistic about where Joe would end up, but OK.
I might add that the Pope is the father especially of the baptized, even if they do not acknowledge him as Father.
If, as the eastern orthodox churches believe, the Pope lacks the authority/status to consecrate, then his consecration of Russia should be regarded as ineffectual or as a harmless good will gesture.
Just to make it clear: I do not believe that Francis is the Pope, so I am skeptical as to whether this will do much good. But, Francis aside, there are many good and pious people who will be praying for a just peace (the only real peace), and *their prayers will work in Russia’s favor, since Russia’s cause is just.*

Putin knows of this and Francis refused to discuss the consecration when Putin visited the Vatican in 2016. This consecration is likely a very good thing. It means God will be on Russia’s side now. Most traditional Catholics fear Pope Francis will anger God for this decision because of his past heresy and the likelihood that Pope Benedict was removed from office by force. I am praying God will tolerate this and give humanity the full benefit of the consecration anyway.
